A Dutch secretaire à abattant Holland, Louis XVI, circa 1785 Veneered with sycamore, tulip-, purple- and boxwood 146 x 97 x 40 cm € 52.500 The shaped and moulded marble top above a frieze-drawer, the fall-front with green leather-lined writing surface, the friezedrawer and the sides of the frieze with a marquetry of scrolls with a flower; the fallfront, the two lower doors and the sides with flower head filled trellis, the medallion in the centre of the fall-front with a marquetry of two lovebirds enclosed by musical instruments, the canted angles decorated with a flower head, laurel leaves tied by a ribbon, and fausses flutes; the fitted interior with pigeonholes above a central door with a marquetry of flower branches flanked by secret detachable ‘column’ and ‘their base’ and four drawers with trellis marquetry, on straight legs.
