TRIMMER-HEAD APPLICATION CHART
WARNING
High speed cutting tools present risk of serious injury to
operators or bystanders from thrown objects or from contact
with rotating cutting attachments. Read and follow all
instructions below for proper fitting and for safe and proper
use of blades and trimmer-heads.
ATTENTION DEALERS:
The application charts on the following pages are based on the
best information available to Oregon® at the time of printing.
We take care that listed applications are accurate, but it is your
responsibility to assure that Oregon® cutting attachments are
correctly and appropriately fitted to equipment you service.
Some trimmers and brushcutters offer more than one cuttingattachment shield. Be sure to use the appropriate shield for the
cutting attachment installed. Inadequate shielding can expose
operators and bystanders to the risk of serious injury.
Important safety and maintenance information is often printed
on Oregon® packaging. When installing new cutting attachments, do not discard such packaging — give it to your customer.
TRIMMER/BRUSHCUTTER SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The shield protects against inadvertent contact with the cutting
attachment and reduces the risk of the operator and bystanders being struck by objects that may be picked up and thrown
violently by the rotating tool.
• Read and follow all instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the trimmer/brushcutter.
Manufacturerʼs instructions include important additional information regarding safe use and proper maintenance procedures for
their products.
• Rigid blades must be used only on brushcutters designed
to accommodate blades. Never use a metal cutting attachment on a brushcutter without a shoulder harness, properly
mounted barrier handlebar and cutting-attachment shield
in good condition. Never remove the cutting-attachment
shield.
These features are designed to minimize the risk of inadvertent
contact with the cutting blade, reduce the risk of injury to the operator and bystanders from thrown objects, and to aid in control
of the brushcutter.
Contact with rigid blades can result in severe bodily injury.
• Be certain that replacement cutting attachments are fitted

properly with regard to the direction of rotation and the size of
arbor or mounting bolt.
Improperly mounted attachments can damage the machine or
work loose and be thrown off, causing injury to the operator or
bystanders. Do not mount any attachment on any trimmer or brushcutter without a solid, secure fit of all parts.
• Do not install Oregon® trimmer-heads on any trimmer capable of spinning the attachment faster than 10,000 RPM. And do
not install Oregon® metal blades on any brushcutter capable of
spinning the blade faster than 10,000 RPM.
Speeds higher than these may cause the cutting attachment to
break and fly apart, especially if they become damaged in use, with
pieces possibly striking and injuring the operator or bystanders.
• Check the condition of cutting attachments frequently.
Always replace cutting attachments that are cracked, bent, or
warped—even if such damage appears to be superficial. Never
attempt
to repair damaged cutting attachments by welding or bending.
There is a risk that damaged cutting attachments will fly apart, with
pieces possibly striking and injuring the operator or bystanders.
• Always wear eye, face, leg and foot protection during
operation.
These precautions reduce the risk of injury from material that may
be thrown by the cutting attachment. Do not wear shorts or shortsleeved shirts. Wear safety glasses or similar eye protection.
• Keep bystanders and pets at least 50 feet (15m) away in
all directions. Always clear the work area of rocks, bottles,
wire, nails or other foreign objects that can be picked up and
thrown by the rotating cutting attachment.
Trimmers and brushcutters can violently throw loose objects, or
uncontrollably thrust away from objects they contact but cannot
cut. Keep bystanders away.
• Sharpen or maintain the cutting attachment according to
instructions packaged with the attachment.
A dull tool is more difficult to use. Failure to sharpen, or incorrect
sharpening of metal blades, can lead to cracks that may result in
breakage, exposing the operator and bystanders to the risk of serious personal injury.
TRIMMER-HEAD APPLICATION CHART
• Check that cutting-attachment shields are properly
located and in good condition. Never remove, modify or in
any way compromise the cutting-attachment shield to accommodate a cutting attachment, or for any other reason.

• Use cutting attachments to cut only the types of material for
which the attachment is designed.
If used improperly, cutting attachments may become damaged
and may break, increasing the risk of serious personal injury to the
operator or bystanders.
• Disconnect power to the trimmer/brushcutter before performing any service.
There is always a risk that the cutting attachment will inadvertently
be started if the machine is under power.
LOOP-HANDLE TRIMMERS (STRAIGHT OR CURVED SHAFT)
Loop-handle trimmers should be fitted only with nylon-line heads.
