Holiday at Lake Idro

In the surrounding hills and mountains, nature
lovers will find many romantic trails. There are
also more challenging steep mountain paths
available for the more adventurous (in Dolimiti
di Brenta or Adamelloarea).
In the last few years, a wide variety of different
and more extreme sports have been developed in addition to the better known sporting activities. An example of this would be Kids Canyon
in Casto - which is a very stimulating experience (day trips to which are organised via the
Rio Vantone campsite - under expert supervision).
There are also dedicated climbing areas in
Crone and Vesta which are ideal places in
which children and adults can learn to climb.
There are many places to learn and practice
activities such as paragliding, windsurfing and
canyoning (while travelling on beautiful rivers
and passing through an area with wild horses).
In short, Lake Idro offers everything for an
adventurous vacation.

A
Lake Idro (Lago d‘Idro) is situated in a wide
valley of steep mountains and lies at an altitude
of 370 meters above sea level in the Sabbia
Valley. The River Chiese, which springs from
the mountains of Adamello to the north, continuously fills the Lake (even in high season) with
fresh and clear water.
Consequently, Lake Idro is an ideal location not
only for windsurfing and sailing, but also as an
area in which to play and swim - which is an
exhilarating experience in itself!
The water temperature in the summer season
is usually around 23-24 °C, which is ideal for a
refreshing dip during the hot weather.
Lake Idro measures 11 km long and 2 km wide
and is located in the Lombardy province - north
of the city of Brescia - and is about 35 km west
of its very famous neighbour Lake Garda. It is
surrounded by beautiful medium to high mountains and easily reachable within a day from
the south of Germany - over the Brenner Pass,
or through Switzerland.
Our leased cottages and apartments are
constructed using the natural stone of the
region and are located in the municipality of
Idro - in the villages of Vesta (in the north east),
in Crone (in the south east) and the 4-star
AZUR Sportcamping Rio Vantone.
This campsite has been in existence
for over 40 years and has been
recently modernised to a high
standard.
From Idro, you can easily make day
trips to Salo, Desenzano and Sirmione
at Lake Garda, or to Milan, Bergamo,
Brescia, Verona and Venice.
The climate in the area is very mild.
This means that the weather from
Spring to late Autumn is warm and in
the Summer the days are mostly hot
and sunny.

village of Vesta
The village of Vesta, north east of Lake Idro is
not only the cosiest and quietest place at Lake
Idro but also the sunniest.
Vesta is a holiday village with its own beach, an
associated beach bar with boat rental (only in
high season) and a magnificent view of the lake.
You can shop for your groceries in Crone or
on campsite Rio Vantone.

Casa Ruth is a cosy holiday home with two
superposed housing units and a big garden.
The house is situated approximately 80 meters
from the lake and from the house there is a
path straight to the beach. From the house,
you will have a great view of Vesta and Lake
Idro with its beautiful mountains.

Casa Paola has four cosy and very tastefully
decorated holiday homes.
The house is situated right next to the public
beach and therefore directly on the lake. From
here, it affords a completely free and beautiful
view of the South side of the lake.
While your children are playing on the beach,
you can leisurely sun bathe in the garden and
enjoy the mountain scenery of Lake Idro.

Casa Anna not only has seven very tastefully
decorated holiday homes, but is fantastically
quiet and yet right on beautiful Lake Idro.
The big gated garden, offers a lot of space for
sun lovers and playing children. Under the
walnut trees, one can find shade and peace
for a nice afternoon nap.
From the yard, you can go directly to the lake
and beach through a gate. The house is also
available for multiple families who want to
spend their holiday together.

»Casa Anouschka«
Crone – the biggest village
of the municipality of Idro
Only 50 metres as the crow flies from the
lake, located on the northern outskirts of
Crone, set on a terrace side by side, are
the houses Casa Anouschka, Casa Elisa,
Casa Corinna and Casa Susanna.
The four modern and tastefully decorated
holiday homes all have their own big balcony
or a terrace facing the lake and access to a
communal garden.
Around the house can be found a beautiful
garden and sufficient parking for all of the
apartments. They are located with a southwest
view of the lake and a mountain panorama
behind. Additionally, these houses have their
own pool, which is only accessible for the
guests of the holiday homes.
The centre of the village of Crone has enchanting alleys, small shops and restaurants.

There is also a big market every Wednesday
morning, only 5 minutes walk away! Every
morning, you can buy fresh bread, cheese
and salami in this village without having to
drive elsewhere with your car.
Every house is light and airy and decorated
with a terracotta floor with floor heating and
a fireplace. The bedrooms are spacious, the
kitchen is fully equipped and the living room is
very cosy, making you feel at home right away!

is the four-star campsite Azur Sportcamping
and holiday park Rio Vantone.
Whether you are looking for a pitch (i.e. near
the water), a room, a mobile home, a luxurious
tent/lodge or a holiday home, here you will find
the right accommodation to fulfil everybody’s
desires.
The staff at the reception as well as the
restaurant will try to make your stay as
pleasant as possible, so that you can enjoy

Casa Valeria A and B are located on the
ground floor and are equipped for two
adults and three children. Here, you will find
a living/bedroom with sat-TV. In addition to a
comfortable kitchen and dining area, there
is also a very comfortable pullout sofa bed, a
bedroom with a double bed, a bedroom for
children with large bunk beds, a bathroom
with shower/toilet and a patio with furniture.
A lake view is, of course, also included.
Houses C and D
are on the upper floor and have capacity
for two adults with a maximum of four children. There is a living/bedroom with sat-TV
and a comfortable kitchen and dining area,
a pullout sofa bed, a bedroom with a double bed, a children’s room with large bunk
beds. There is also a space above the living
room, accessible through a staircase, with
two beds and plenty of space for children to
play. This space is ideal for the older children (no young ones!) adolescents or adults,
who are able to walk up the stairs on their
own. A bathroom with shower/toilet and a
broad patio with furniture, and a lake view
are also included in this house.

Our »Mobile Homes«
In addition to a comprehensive range of
holiday accommodation four-star campsite
Azur Rio Vantone also offers a number of
mobile homes.
These very cosy “family homes” are not only
ideal for families with a maximum of three
children, but they also have all the extras that
one may need during the holidays.
Every “house” has its own patio and more
room than you might expect. From here, it is
only a few metres to the lake or to the facilities
of the campsite, such as the shop, the bar/restaurant with espresso bar, the ice cream salon
and the playground. Unfortunately, dogs are
not allowed in the mobile homes.

Since short, there are additional new
Lodge tents on the campsite!
They are located in the forest part of the
campsite, on a separate field, only a few
metres from the lake.
In these super tents not only you, but also
your children will feel completely contented.
Around the lodges, there is plenty of space
for your children to play, while you can sit
down and enjoy your holiday on the cosy
timber terrace.
The Lodge tents are the very latest in luxury
camping. Although you are sleeping in a
tent, you will imagine that you are in a fourstar hotel. This means real Glamping!
The lodges are not only modern, comfortable
and cosy, but they are an ideal alternative
accommodation for the campsite of the future.

The pitches are arranged on a piece of
land with numerous trees and flowering
plants set in its own pinewood.
The sanitary facilities of this campsite are
excellent. We have two centrally located
facilities, equipped with all the necessities,
like children’s showers, a baby bathtub and a
disabled toilet.
Cleanliness and
hygiene are our
top priorities!
Dogs are welcome
on our campsite.
Whether you have a standard pitch on the
campsite, a comfort pitch or a water pitch on
the front row overlooking the lake, there is
plenty of greenery and trees providing shade.
Of course we will always have time to listen!

Lake Idro. Pure outdoor adventure in the water or in the mountains.
Sports enthusiasts and adventurers are offered
many possibilities to entertain themselves climbing a mountain for example.
Surf school “Leo”, which has been located
on Azur Sportcamping Rio Vantone for over
25 years, provides both high quality modern
equipment and of course a very good vibe.
We recommend a family walk or even a thrilling mountain tour - whilst clambering over
the rocks. After arriving at the top, there is
almost always a wonderful Trattoria or Refugio,
where your taste buds will be pampered and
you can rest your tired body for a while.
We organize guided tours on request that
both you and your children will enjoy.
A highlight is the Kid’s Canyon in Casto, or
the (adult) canyoning tour in Palvice. Watersports are a big priority here and we have
an ample supply of them.
You can lie back sunbathing on the beach,
or you can go surfing, sailing, canoeing,
rent a motor or sail boat, enjoy a boat ride,
or even fly over the water while kiting!
Hikes and mountain tours around Lake
Idro, in the beautiful Val di Daone or in the
region around the Adamello glacier are
organised regularly.
With our hiking maps, it is always possible to
make a daytrip or hike with family or friends
in the vicinity of Lake Idro

The climbing wall in Crone takes you to a height
of 400 metres. In Vesta the climbing wall takes
you 3000 metres horizontally along the lake.
The climbing walls around Lake Idro are
only a few minutes away. For 3000m horizontally on the Via Ferrata Sasse in Vesta,
or 400 m higher on the Via Ferrata Crench
in Crone, the opportunities are huge and
with Lake Idro, right beneath you, it is a
wonderful outdoor experience.
Climbing opportunities in the vicinity also offer hang bridges, slides, waterfalls and many
other attractions. Climbing gear is for hire at
the reception of Azur Camping Rio Vantone.
Canyoning tours (also for families) have in
the last couple of years become a big favourite. Whether you book the “Family Canyo-
ning Tour” (for families with children from
8 years and older) or the tour of “Palvico” or
“Rio Nero”, you will definitely be impressed.
Experienced climbers will also be in their
element. More than 40 climbing walls of
various degrees are waiting here for you.
When that is still not enough, a one-hour
drive north is the climbing Eldorado Arco,
of the Brenta-Dolomites.
Our mountain bikes are replaced every
year for new models. This guarantees
quality and a lot of fun during the tours in
the mountains.

you are here, you should spend your time
near our beautiful lakes
The larger northern Italian lakes are situated
relatively close to Lake Idro and offer many
possibilities. You will have a wonderful holiday
to everybody’s taste and desires.
If you are looking for a culinary surprise, then
at Lake Idro, you are in the right place. The
cuisine impresses not only with its wonderful
pizzas but also the delicious pastas and flavoursome meat dishes and homemade desserts.

A reasonably priced, but irresistible temptation
is shopping at the weekly markets with their
variety of clothing and typical Italian salamis
and cheeses.
Visit one of the many outlet centres with the
famous Italian fashion brands or take a stroll
along the promenade of Lake Idro in the
enchanted town of Crone near the lake. A real
Italian ice cream cone to go with it; that is a
must in Italy!
San Marco in Venice
Arena di Verona
We have for several years organised day trips
to Venice or the Arena di Verona for the
opera Aida, Nabucco and many others.
Sirmione on Lake Garda
Every Wednesday there is a market in Crone.
Those who seek more shopping possibilities
can take a drive to Salo (30 minutes) on
Saturday or to Desenzano (45 minutes) on
Tuesday, on the shores of Lake Garda.
Further shopping opportunities can be found
around Lake Garda or in the provincial capital Brescia.
Lago della Vacca
You can explore Lake Garda by car, of course,
but it is also possible by boat. (without a licence,
a maximum limit of 40 hp limit applies).
Rocca d‘Anfo
Above Lake Idro lies the mountain village of Bagolino. It is considered one of the most
beautiful, mountain villages of Northern Italy but is relatively tourist free. Bagolino is very
famous for its local cheese “Bagoss”.

Lake Idro
Useful Information:
Holiday in May/June
From mid-May, you will find experienced surfers at Surfing point
Idro each year for the start of the new season. After a tiring day,
you can find each other again, in the evening on the beach, in
the bar or in a Pizzeria at the lake.
Additionally, bikers and hikers come to the region in May and
June. The mountains and mountain passes around the lake,
with heights up to 2000 metres in the Adamello glacier or the
Brenta Dolomites area, are a must for every biker…
Holiday in September/October
The month of September is the ideal holiday time for nature
lovers and those in search of peace and tranquillity. The water
of Lake Idro is warm, the big rush of July and August is over
and wine festivals are held in the small villages of the Sabbia
Valley. Here one will find fresh salami from the grill (salamine),
together with a nice polenta, and of course a good wine from
the Garda region.
