About The Speakers
Christine Weerts NP — Christine Weerts
achieved her MSN at the University
Wisconsin Madison in 1997. She is board
certified as an adult and geriatric Nurse
Practitioner and currently works as an
Internal Medicine /Geriatric Nurse
Practitioner at Aurora’s Delavan Clinic. Prior
to this, she spent a number of years working
at the Senior Health and Wellness Clinic in
East Troy performing comprehensive
geriatric assessments of elderly in the
community and at local long term care
facilities. In addition, she established the
Acute Care for the Elderly program at
Aurora Lakeland Hospital.
Dr. Diana R. Kerwin — Dr. Diana R. Kerwin
is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics and
Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s
Disease Center of Northwestern University.
She specializes in the identification of risk
markers and prevention of cognitive decline
and dementia. Dr. Kerwin served as
President of the Board of the SE WI Chapter
of the Alzheimer’s Association, Director of
the Geriatric Memory Disorders Clinic and
Latino Dementia Center, Scientific Advisory
Board to the Alzheimer’s Association, and on
the Board of the Extendicare Foundation.
She has lectured extensively on cognitive
aging, caregiving and Alzheimer disease,
both regionally and nationally. Her research
has been featured in Time Magazine, Boston
Globe, ABC News, CBS Radio, BBC and she
appeared on a Chicago morning news
program.
Loren Waite — Loren Waite is a local
resident who has been caring for his wife
Harriet nearly 6 years. Learn about his
caregiving journey.
Terry Lynch — Terry Lynch is the owner of
Strategies for Independent Aging and
author of “But I Don’t Want Eldercare!” He
helped his mother enjoy life in her home for
10 years in spite of a life-changing memory
disorder and other challenging medical
problems. He learned that most of us have
more control over the future than we realize
and will share his keys to success in his
Conference presentation. Terry serves on
the Wisconsin Board on Aging and is actively
involved in improving Wisconsin homecare
programs.
