Yantra.......................................................................................52 4 Introduction Yantra literally means "Loom, "Instrument or Machine". In actual practice a Yantra is a symbolic representation of aspects of divinity, usually the Mother Goddess. It is an interlocking matrix of geometric figures, circles, triangles and floral patterns that form fractal patterns of elegance and beauty. Though drawn in two dimensions, a Yantra is supposed to represent a three dimensional sacred object. Three-dimensional Yantras are now becoming increasingly common. Although the Yantra is primarily a meditation tool both for serious spiritual seekers as well as sculptors in the classical tradition, its Shakti is also available to new seekers with sincere devotion and good intention. Before creating Yantric artifacts in wood, stone or metal, they draw a Yantra that represents attributes of the god or goddess they wish to sculpt, etch or create. Intense meditation upon it causes the fully formed image to leap into the mind's eye with remarkable intensity with imprinting ability. In some cases, traditional Yantra-makers do not need to make a sketch before creating the image. Yantras are also used for innumerable mundane purposes such as to enhance the quality of one's life, attract prosperity, abundance, love, harmony, peace, enhance learning, promote healing, relieve health problems, for career advancement, achieve desired goals in projects, improve business and protection from negative forces. Yantras are often mistakenly thought to be symbols purely of the manifold aspects of the Mother Goddess. This is an understandable error as most Yantras are indeed connected to the Goddess, the most famous being the Sri Yantra, an abstract representation of the Mother (and Father too!) as Cosmos. The Sri Yantra is also commonly misunderstood to represent Lakshmi, the Goddess of Fortune but it is more true to say the Sri Yantra includes and transcends every notion of divinity ever conceived of the pantheons of deities relating to the Sanatana Dharma. However, there are Yantras for male deities such as Lord Ganesha and Lord Kubera but they share a common Yaksha origin with Goddess Lakshmi. The Yakshas were original chthonic deities of India and Yantra systems seem to have been incorporated into the Vedic worldview at a later stage. Within the body of more complex Yantras, monosyllabic mantras, the Beeja or "Seed" mantras are inscribed to constitute the subtle forms of respective Gods and Goddesses. Most designs often focus attentive detail upon the center of Yantras usually a dot or Bindu which is the Locus Mundi, the center of all things and represents the Unmanifested Potential of all creation. Other figures usually symbolize various stages within the unfolding of creation. Thus, every Yantra is a symbolic representation of both the deity as well as the universe. The Mother Goddess not only permeates the substance of the universe, but is literally the Universe itself. Abstract geometric representations of the universe that do not represent a deity, are called Mandalas. Every Yantra is an also a Mandala, though not all Mandalas are Yantras. In ancient texts, Lord Shiva is supposed to have explained the mystical meaning of the Yantra to his consort, Goddess Parvati: "The Yantra is as essential to a god as oil is to the oil lamp or as a body is to a living human being". Yantras are constructed with observing immutable laws of sacred geometry, being symbolic representations of energy patterns of a deity and rank amongst the most powerful 'centering' devices for harnessing divine energies. The Yantra is actually more powerful than a picture of a God which, to be energized, requires a Yantra to be affixed at its base or back. A Yantra always contains a Mantra associated with it. Just as the mind is a part of, yet different from the body, so is the Mantra from the Yantra. The Mantra is the mind consciousness while the Yantra is the form of the deity. 5 Elements in Yantra The world is composed of Five elements Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Sky. In Yantras where lines are used with the basic concept of Bindu or point, all these elements are used particularly Earth, Water and Fire. Yantras are rectangular and of Water element are round whereas that of Fire are Triangular. Five or more sides Yantras are too used. Triangular Yantra when is of raised lines indicates Lord SHIVA'S Yantra and when is of Carved lines denotes of BHAGWATI Yantra. These Fire elements Yantra indicate specific use, which are to be memorised by the Sadhaka. Prithvi Tatva:- These Yantras bestow contentment, comforts, ambitions and success. Jal Tatva :- These Yantras bless the native with respect, Love, Contentment, removes restlessness, Smoothness, affection in life and wisdom. Agni Tatva:- These Yantras are helpful in gaining respect, success, avert failures and troubles etc. Vayu Tatva :- These Yantras stand for difficulties, disrespect, unintelligence, etc and they increase such instinets and attract the users to vices. Akash Tatva :- These Yantras are useful for creating affection, education, Love for all, removing worries, and success in efforts for spirituality in solitude. In Mohammdan practice, Yantras has been divided into Four types, and known as Atshi, Badi Abbi and Khakhi which corresponds to Fiery (Agni), Airy (Vayu), Watery (Jal) and Earthy (Prithvi) respectively. In Hindu and other religions these are used for specific but for same purpose. Agni or Atshi Yantras are written on paper, Bhoj Patra, old clothes, China wares etc. hese Yantras are put in Fire or burried near hearth place or Fire place etc. They bless the the native with success and help in overcoming the diffculties of life and for controlling dreams etc. These should be written facing East, sitting on one knee and near the Fire. Badi or Airy yantras are those which are bung with a tree or are placed at a height where they should remain in motion. These are used for affection, love affairs or for stopping the speech of another man etc. It should be written while sitting at aheight or roof top of a house. Abbi Yantras are known as Jal or Watery one, these are thrown in river, canal, well or any place where there is water as per specific directions. Generally are used for release of prisoners etc. Write facing West, standing in water. Khaki or Prithvi or Earthy Yantras are burried under the Chowkhat, cremation path, mountain or at the places where four roads meet. These are used for the death of enemies. These Yantras be written while facing South, sitting on one knee, dhoop or incense be lighted. 6 The Grammar of Yantra 7 Division of Yantra According to Shastras, Yantras are divided into Seven types which are used accordingly. Sharir Yantra :- There are six chakras in the body, through which Kundalini is awakened. These are specific Yantras for each Chakra which are worn or used accordingly. Each Yantra carries seperate mantras which if recited indicates different gains. These are called Sharir Yantras. Dharn Yantra :- As the name indicates, these Yantras are worn on different parts of the body for specific use. They bestow the results when used accordingly. There are several such Yantras and methods. Asan Yantra :- Such Yantras are kept under Aasna at the time of Sadhana. These bears fruits early than other Yantras These are Yantras which are placed in temples, in the foundation of houses, used as Devas as mentioned earlier. Such Yantras are kept under every Deva for early good results. Mandal Yantra :- In this the Sadhakas are made to sit in the shape of Yantras itself. Nine persons take part in it. One sits in the centre, four persons in four directions and others recite other mantras. The Sadhana with this Yanra bears fruit early. Pooja Yantra : - We have earlier indicated that Tantras are installed in temples and Pooja is performed. Actually these Yantras are of a different devas. Such Yantras are installed in many ways namely:While installing the idols of Devas, the Yantras are written in digits and accordingly while performing pooja, the names of respective Devas are recited. The Muslims write 786 which is a digital Yantra for the word "Bisam Allah". In Yantra, the name of Deva is written in the centre and pooja is performed. Some Yantras are prepared while writing the mantras, in such case, we write full mantras some where, at other place the first words of mantras are written, whereas in other cases we write Beej mantras only. On some yantras the photos of Devas and Devi etc are pasted or drawn and pooja is performed. In Such yantras colours are used in the pictures of Devas etc. Chhatar Yantra:- The above yantras enuomerated at Serial 1 to 5 are writeten at the place where you sit, on at the roof top, on the Skull etc and are Called Chhatar Yantras. These yantras are kept under turbon, hat, or in a Cloth which is kept always with the man as towel etc or be kept in a pocket. Darshan Yantras:- These are yantras, which are if seen by the Sadhaka, he is benefitted. Or the place where these are installed or worn, blesses the native with Success. In India there are places where purified yantras are installed and those places are very powerful to mitigate the rtroubles and evils of the people if pooja is performed there. In temples of Jagan Nath Puri, Ishairon Yantra and in Shri Nath Dwar is installed Sudarshan yantra etc. But the above yantras be writte in a methodical way, following the right directions, material. 8 Blessings of Yantra Yantras are sanctified and energized through an elaborate ritual by specialized priests at a temple. The Pranapratistha ritual is performed to infuse the Yantras with "life force" or energies of respective deities. The Mantra audio files are emailed to you on purchase of Yantras. The Mantras are also sent in a free Book along with the purchase. Things you need to do after receiving Yantra: You need to install yantra after bath in the morning in direction as stated in the booklet or facing East direction. Light incense/oil lamp, offer a flower and chant the deity mantra or mantra of Yantra a minimum of 9 times. You may choose any auspicious day morning as per your convenience to install or wear your yantra. If worshipped with sincere devotion, rewards will unfold. It is important for a Yantra to be energized as it has to be brought "to live" through the specifically prescribed ritual so that it can radiate its beneficence optimally. An un-energized Yantra can be compared to a very complex music system that has been plugged in but not tuned or turned on and the aspirant has no idea which button will activate it. Trial and error over a period of time will cause the music system to function with erratic and irregular efficiency until one finally manages to figure it out, if at all. Energized Yantras are immediately "tuned and turned on" so to speak. A Yantra will function even if not energized but it will take years, even decades, before it absorbs enough energy (from normal prayers and worship) to function as it should. The ritual of energizing Yantras prevents all this delay and uncertainty while ensuring efficient peak functions from the moment of purchase. It pays to remember that Yantras find their own homes; the intended worshipper does not find it just because he or she buys it. 9 Puja of Yantra Before use and wear pooja of every Yantra is to be performed for which there is a specific method. The method is provided here-under for the candid use of Sadhaka. The step wise method is to be adopted. Since every Yantra is associated to a particular Deva or Devi, so the Sadhaka should first keep in mind, the particular Ishat. One should take flowers in both hands, the flowers should be of Anjeel and be offered to yantra reciting the Beej Mantra. This is a worship of Deva, Ishat or Deity and Yantra. Poorv Poojan (Starting). Flowers be offered while speaking "Devaye Namah Aavahanam Samarpayam". Flowers be offered for Aasan while reciting. "Devaya Namah Aasanam Samarpayami" Water be offered to wash the feet of Lord or Deity while speaking. "Devaye Paydam samarpayami" Take three Achmans while reciting "Devaye Aaradhye Samarpyami". Bath be offered to Deva While reciting "Devsya asnanam samarpayami" Panch Amrit bath be offered with mantra, "Devaye panchamritasnanam samarpayami" Utter Pooja:For Vastar or clothes up vastar and Yajya Paveet, recite the mantras. Ghand be appliet while reeiting, "Devaye Gandh Samarpyami" Unbroken rice be offered while reciting "Devaye akshtaan samarpyami" For wealth this mantra be recited, "Devaye pushparni samarpyami" Dhoop be lighted and offered with mantra, "Devaye dhoopam samarpyami" Deep be lit and offered with mantra, "Devaye deepam samarpyami" Fruits be offered while reciting, "Devaye navedyam phalam cha samrpyami" Pan Supari be offered with mantra, "Devaye tambulam samarpyami" For Aarti recite the mantra, "Devaye pradakshirnam samarpyami" Pradakshina, means to walk around, be made thrice with mantra "Yani Kan cha papani janmantarkirtani cha Tani Sarvani Nashyantu Pradakshin Pade Pade" In the end offer flowers and Namaskar with folded hands, and prayer be performed with Beej Mantra with specific desires which be expressed. The above 16 steps are for pooja of Yantra. In case one can not do all for any reason, then Sadhaka is advised to light dhoop, apply Chandan, red vermillion and scent while reciting Beej Mantra or Mahamritanje Mantra. After taking bath and wearing new or washed clothes. You can use your Ishat mantra for pooja. Do it yourself in the way it is easy for you. All your desires will be fulfilled. 10 Auspicious Period Months: - The auspicious months for writing the yantras are Shara Vana, Bhadra pad, Aswij, Kartik, Maghasar, Vaisakh, Pause, Magha and Phalgun. These months are Hindi Bikrami month. The yantra prepared during these months indicates successful results. They are beneficial for wealth, Gold, gain , respect, Comforts from Children, promotion, success, education etc. The months of Chaitra, Jyestha and Asar are middling for writing of yantras. Other months are not fit for writing of yantras. Paksha: - Shukal Paksha is better than Krishna Paksha. The former is auspicious whereas latter is middling. Thithi:- For Vashi Karan Nand tithi, For Lakshmi and education Bhara Tithi, for Moksha and spirituality Siddhi Jya tithi and for Maran Rikta tithis are suitable. For all auspicious works Pooran tiithies are most suitable. Colours:- For spiritual Sadhana white, for Maran, Uchattan Black, for Vashi Karan, Mohan etc red, for acquisition of wealth yellow, Kesari, and for Aakarshan Blue colours are most successful and bears early results. Period of Benefits Another common question is how soon can one expect to experience the benefits of wearing or installing a Yantra. This usually takes 45 days but this is a conservative estimate. Some Yantras activate results almost immediately if one's karmic potential is ripe. Others work better over the long term, gradually but steadfastly increasing stages of blessings. Yantras for prosperity and wealth are usually of this catergory. Hence patience is required. For example, the Lord Kuber Yantra may or may not bestow immediate results but the patient person will eventually see benefits. It is known that the greatest bounties that can be conferred by the Lord Kuber Yantra come after 3 years in many cases. Yantras for health, preventing accidents and mishaps and the like, are known to be working if nothing is going wrong! However, despite one's best intentions, the desired results may not always be achieved. This is usually due to reasons of karma that have to be worked out and experienced before the organism can achieve its desire. 11 Principles of Yantra Since time immemorial, it is believed that mystical Yantras reveal inner basis of forms and shapes abounding in the universe. In this respect, whatever the outer structure, all matter consists of an intrinsic basic unity, the atom. Thus each aspect of the world can be seen in its structural form as a Yantra. Ancient Indian Shilpi-Yogins (Makers of Ritual Art) sought to identify the innermost structures of the universe by concentrating world-appearances through intense yogic vision into simple form equations. Yantras function as revelatory symbols of cosmic truths. They are serve as instructional charts of the spiritual aspect of human experience. All the primal shapes of a yantra are psychological symbols corresponding to inner states of human consciousness. Through constant ritual worship, Yantras shed dormancy and act as emblems of psychic power. In this respect, the Yantra moves beyond "form" and "function" thus becoming a "Shakti-rupa" (power diagram). Yantra holds a supreme status amongst metaphysical sciences and disciplines. Adepts mention Yantra as an entrance to all occult sciences and result-oriented accomplishments. Metaphorically, Yantras are abodes of all deities whose seats lie at some point, direction, region, corner or angle within a Yantra. The deities are elated at respective designated "places" in a Yantra. Yantras are also visual forms of Mantric energy. The power of a Yantra is designated in the same method as a building is hidden in architectural diagrams. Simple Worship of Yantras For those who prefer simple worship of a Yantra, traditionally a small lighted oil-lamp or ghee lamp placed in front of the Yantra is regarded as the best form of simple worship. The lighting of incense of various types is also well regarded as is the auditory stimuli of chanting Mantras or playing tapes of sacred chants. As Yantras are living energy systems, they respond to all sensory stimuli. Perfume is perceived as a vain affectation and is to be avoided especially as most perfumes consist of synthetic components. Energy workers such as Reiki masters and Pranic healers can direct their own energies at the Yantra as a gesture of giving thanks or in worship. Some healers have reported stunning positive responses that were evoked. Positioning of Yantras It is generally recommended that a Yantra be placed in the north/north-west direction facing the south/south-east direction in a room. However, this rule of thumb does not apply to the Vaastu Yantra as it is supposed to be placed in the south-west corner of the house, facing north-east. The Sri Yantra is supposed to be placed in the east, facing west. The Lord Kuber Yantra should be positioned in the north facing south or in the east facing west. Placing of Two or More Yantras Together Two or more Yantras may be placed together but caution is advised that a Lord Kuber Yantra must always be positioned at the extreme left of any group of Yantras. This particular Yantra should be on the left-hand side when we look at the Yantras. The Sri Yantra should be in the exact center of the group. If an altar has only the Sri Yantra and a Lord Kuber Yantra, then the Sri Yantra should be to the right-hand side of Lord Kuber when we stand or in front of them. A Ganapati or Ganesha Yantra should always be placed at the extreme right side of any group of Yantras. 12 Prohibitions Regarding prohibitions when wearing Yantra Pendants - say when socializing, during sex or visiting a place of death, Rudra Centre does not suggest strict prohibitions and leaves it to the wearer's discretion and comfort levels. Associated ancient literature on the subject of prohibitions is not authoritative and indeed sometimes seem mutually contradictory. Generally some individuals prefer to take off their Yantra Pendants and wear them again after taking a bath. Of utmost significance and importance is the intention, faith and devotion of the wearer. However, it is generally maintained by persons of strict upbringing and background to remove all sacred objects when having sex. It is believed that psychic energies generated during the act frequently interfere with the spiritual energies of Yantras. It is also a good idea, though not mandatory, to remove them in places of death as there are intense negative and sorrowful energies accumulated there. These tend to "stick" to the Yantra and darken or dull the energies. Normal social interaction does not require Yantras to be taken off. Preferably, it is best to avoid getting the Pendants wet so as to help maintain the lifespan of its plating. 13 Different Types of Yantras Yantra For Business Yantra For Attracting Wealth Sarv Karyasidhi Yantra Shri Yantra Kuber Yantra Subhlabh Yantra Mahalakshmi Yantra Vyapar Vridhi Yantra Yantra For Attraction Shukra Yantra Vashikaran Yantra Yantra For Children Santangopal Yantra Yantra For Education Gayatri Yantra Saraswati Yantra Yantra For Prosperity and Luck Durga Bisa Yantra Ganesh Yantra MeruYantra Nav Graha Yantra Ramraksha Yantra Sarv Karyasidhi Yantra Vaastu Dosh Nivaran Yantra Yantra Overcome Enemies Bagala Mukhi Yantra Hanuman Yantra Mahakali Yantra Yantra For Health Yantra For Planets Other Yantras Mahamritunjay Yantra Mangal Yantra Surya Yantra Vahandurghtna Yantra Nav Graha Yantra Brihaspati Yantra Chandra Yantra Ketu Yantra Mercury Yantra Rahu Yantra Shani Yantra Shukra Yantra Mangal Yantra Surya Yantra Kaalsarp(Naagpash) Yantra Batuk Bhairon Yantra Durga Bisa Yantra Hanuman Yantra Mahakali Yantra 14 Shree Yantra Shree Yantra is one of the most auspicious, important and powerful Yantras, which not only gives the maximum benefit, but also proves beneficial for almost everybody. Perhaps, the thought of conceiving yantras for the benefit of mankind was formed during the Vedic age when metal came into being. Literally, "Koorm Prishthiya Meru Shree Yantra" means Shree Yantras which is mounted at the back of tortoise upwards. It is also believed that the tortoise lifted weight of the earth over its back. In relation to Lord Kachehap avtar (incarnation of Lord Vinshnu) it is also believed that the whole energy and substance of this living world or earth is created around Meru Prishth (back of tortoise) which has the elements like water, earth along with mountains etc. Shree Yantra designed over the back of Koorm or tortoise has eight petals as in the case of the original Shree Yantra where the flower Lotus or Kamal has eight groups with sixty four Lotus dal. It is also seen that most of the designs of Yantras are based on the growing Lotus flower. Here the question arises as to why Guru Dattatreya chose only the Lotus flower as the base of Yantras. The reason is, Lotus is the only holy flower which originate from the navel (Nabhi) of Lord Vishnu. Where the God of knowledge and creator of Veda i.e 'Lord Brahma' is also believed to be seated. Guru Dattatreya is said to be the representative of the United Trinity' i.e. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Mahesha. Therefore, the force which pushes man to worship the Yantras lies in the strong belief that these Yantras are created by this "Trinity themselves who are the creator, preserver and destroyer of the world respectively, who also control the Sun, the Moon, Planets and hence, the whole universe itself.
