Robo Master HOW TO DO A PRINT AND CUT by Melinda (AKA: lovemyzombie) [email protected] Using your left mouse button double click on your Robo Master desktop icon The program opens and you are shown this screen After a few seconds the above screen disappears and you now have the main screen To start using the program, press the “NEW” button (it looks like a white sheet of paper) The “Document Settings” box appears. Here you will select the size of your paper (which you can change by clicking on the “Specify User Size” button), decide if you want portrait or landscape, make sure “Use Registration Marks” has a checkmark in it. Then press OK You now have a blank sheet of paper with three Registration Marks You will need to find the JPEG clipart or JPEG photo on your computer that you want to print and cut. On your toolbar at the top of your screen click on the “LOAD FILE” button Robo Master is very limited to the extensions it can open. Make sure your image is a JPEG The “Load File” box appears. Find the folder that your JPEG image is in. To find your JPEG images by picture icons press the “View Item” button and click on “Thumbnails”. Find the JPEG image you want, click on the JPEG image to highlight it and press OPEN You will see a blue box. Move the blue box onto the paper where you want your image to materialize and then using your left mouse button click once on your paper. Your image will appear If you look at your image it still has the blue box around it, however the box now has four middle arrows and four corner dots. To make your image a different size, move your mouse over the arrows or the dots until they change shape and then drag them in the direction of your choice. The corner dots are used to make your image bigger or smaller without changing the inner scale size. The side arrows are used to make your image narrow or wider. The top and bottom arrows are used to make your image taller or shorter. Adjust your image to the size you want BUT make sure that the blue box which surrounds your image is NOT touching or going over the grey shadowed Registration Marks. Your blue box should always be BETWEEN the grey shadowed Registration Marks. You are now going to add cut lines to your JPEG image. With your image highlighted and showing the blue box around it, click on the “Get Outline” button. The “Auto Trace” box will appear and your image will be shown to you in black and white Do you notice how white the arms look? I need to darken my image before I add any cut lines. To do this I will move the slider to the right. (If I move the slider to the left my image will get lighter) My image is much darker I will now tell the program to automatically draw cut lines around the outside of my image. I am going to place a check-mark in the box that is beside “Outer Frame Only” then press the “Convert to Outline” button My image now shows tiny little node which are the cut lines If I want to see what my cut lines and my image look like together, then I would place a check mark in the box that is beside “Show Background” Now I see both the cut lines and the shape of my image (shown to me in blue) If you want to see your entire image you can do this a number of ways. You can move the scroll bar up or down. Shown to you in the red box Or you can click on VIEW then ZOOM RATIO and pick the size you want Or you can click on VIEW then FIT which is what I will do right now My entire image now fits on my screen If you look at the first image you will see that one of his arm is not outlined on the inside, this is fine. I will correct this later using the SPLINE tool, but for now, I want to save this image with the new cut lines. To save the image with the new cut lines I will click on the button that says “Paste then Exit” The image appears on screen with the cut lines around it. To confirm this you can click on the “Preview” button The “Preview” screen will appear. There are three buttons at the end of the new toolbar. They are the “Print and Cut Data” button which will show you both your image and cut lines together. Beside that is the “Print Data” button which will show you how the image looks without the cut lines and finally the last button is called the “Cut Data” button which will show you the cut lines only. I will click on the “Cut Data” button My image is now shown to me with the cut lines only To turn off the Preview feature and to go back to the main page click on the “Close” button You are now on the main page without the blue box surrounding your image Remember how I said I will use the SPLINE tool to add cut lines to the arm. Now is the time to do this. I would like to make my image as big as possible so I can see what I will be doing. To enlarge the image I will click on the “Zoom In” button I will click on that button a few times until my image is as big as possible. Using the side scroll bar and the bottom scroll bar I can move to the exact part of my image, which is the inside arm Click on the “Spline” button It takes some practice, but basically all you are doing is manually outlining your section of the image. Remember where you start when you first begin because that will also be your finishing spot. Click once, move just a little bit more and click again. You are placing nodes (cut lines) where you need them. The SPLINE tool will bend and curve with you, so make sure you do it in little steps and go around the image you want to add a cut line to. When you come back to your original starting point double click with your left mouse button to stop the SPLINE tool. This is what my image looks like as I was using the SPLINE tool Click on the “Select” button I now need to group up both of my images (the automatic ones generated by Robo Master and the extra cut lines I made). You want to have both of the images grouped up so all the cut lines move together and do not fall apart. Highlight your entire image Place your mouse on top of your highlighted image and click once with the right mouse button. Move down to the word Group and click on it Your image is now grouped up Now I will print out my image. Remember to make sure your printer is plugged into a power source. Turn your printer on, double check that it is also plugged into your computer and that you have enough paper and ink in your printer. Click on the “Print” button The “Output to Printer” box will appear. Make sure your printer is listed and press OK Your image is printed out with the three Registration Marks You will notice two arrows on the bottom of the printed paper and the words “FEED THIS SIDE FIRST”. You will now need to place your paper on to your carrier sheet (sticky mat), making sure to have the tip of your paper (with the two arrows) begin exactly where the sticky part starts. Do you see how the non-sticky see-through border remains free and clear of paper? It is very import that you line up your paper exactly as shown in this photo If you look closely at your Craft ROBO you will see three different guide lines. These lines are engraved into the metal. The first guideline is on the left side of the machine close to the roller as seen in the photo below The next guideline is inside the machine at the top left just above the first guideline Your next guide line is inside the machine at the top right Now that you have your paper loaded on your carrier sheet. You need to load it in with the arrows first. Make sure your carrier sheet is lined up right beside the first guide line and directly under the rollers Manually roll the mat into your Craft ROBO but stop rolling when your mat hits the next guide line Now you are all set. Click on the “Craft ROBO” button to start cutting The “Output to Craft ROBO” box appears. Press OK The “Craft ROBO Controller” box appears. Set your paper, speed and thickness. Make sure there is a check-mark beside the word “Search Registration Mark”. Press the “Cut” button Your Craft ROBO will search for your three Registration Marks. If you loaded your paper exactly I showed you, all three of your Registration Marks will be read perfectly every time and the following screen will appear. Click on OK to start cutting out your image Once cutting has finished, remove your images from the carrier sheet. This is how my images turned out
