Our standard compliment of indexable trepanning tools covers
a range of diameters from 3.500” to 30” and can be threaded for
internal or external thread mounts. This tooling line is designed
with robust pressed inserts with multiple carbide grades, coatings and chip breakers. This tooling can also be designed for
internal or external chip removal. All of our trepanning tools feature reversible carbide pads for added life and straighter holes.
Our stabilizer trepan tools are designed with additional carbide

The basic principle of Skiving Roller Burnishing is where the skiving tool (a modified
floating reamer) produces a geometrically true round bore, a prerequisite for successful roller burnishing. To date, this process has proven to be the fastest method of ID
finishing of seamless or DOM tubing, with average rates of metal removal of 100 up
to 150 inches per minute. Due to certain industry demand, the Skiving/Roller
Burnishing tool assembly has become a combination Reaming/Skiving/Roller Burnishing tool assembly, capable of removing up to as much as .250” total stock removal in one operation.
BTA Heller Inc. offers a full range of individual or combined Skiving / Roller Burnishing tool assemblies starting at .500 up to 20.000” diameter and for cylinder lengths
up to 33 feet long. Due to the productivity and accuracy demands, our Skiving Roller
Burnishing tooling is mostly utilized on stand-alone deep hole drilling machines.
• I.D. Burnishing Tools ranging from .187” – 20.000” diameters.
• One Direction Skiving / Roller Burnishing Tools ranging from 1.480” – 20.000”

BTA OIL PRESSURE HEAD ASSEMBLIES
PRESSURE HEAD RATED FOR 2.000” – 8.000” DIAMETER DRILLS.
This pressure head will more than handle pressures up to 600psi which is enough to
drill a 2” diameter hole 30 feet deep. BTA Heller Inc. has higher rated pressure heads
when we need to drill smaller holes deeper, but they don’t go up to 8” tool capacity.
The pressure head is built like a spindle, because it does much of the same work
(precisely rotate the part, minimizes deflection under load, carry a precision fixture
(drill bushing and chuck), run cool without loss of tolerance.) Because of its inherent
rigidity, the seal carrier does not deflect and allows the use of more durable carbide
seal material instead of plastics, irons, steels or the worst choice, graphite packing.
The finished assembly can be freely rotated by hand.
The rear packing gland is retained by a large bayonet which allows the use of heavy
studs and retaining nuts, a system which is rapid to install and provides high safety
factors. The use of many cap screws is avoided because the operator probably won’t
tighten them all and it won’t be safe. Smaller series packings through reducers use
fewer and smaller cap screws, in proportion to load induced by coolant pressure.

The BTA HELLER CUT 1 is a moderate to heavy duty, light viscosity oil. Sulfurized and
chlorinated extreme pressure additives and unique lubricity additives provide hydrodynamic
an d polar lubrication. The BTA HELLER CUT 1 outperforms other cutting oils and is specifically designed for deep-hole drilling, gun drilling, ejector drilling, trepanning, and other difficult
operations. It is ideal for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. BTA Heller Cut 1 is the first
choice for drilling small diameter holes ranging from .055” – 1.500” diameters.

BTA Heller Cut 2

hydrodynamic and polar lubrication. The BTA HELLER CUT 3 outperforms other cutting oils
and is specifically designed for deep-hole drilling, gun drilling, ejector drilling, trepanning, and
other difficult operations. It is ideal for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. BTA Heller
Cut 3 is the first choice for drilling small to large diameter holes ranging from .055” – 8.000”
diameters where Chlorine cannot be used due to environmental issues.
