Hickory Chair is pleased to announce the new furniture collection
designed by licensing partner, Susan Hable, Hable for Hickory
Chair™. The collection features bedroom, dining room and living
room furniture. Hickory Chair’s collaboration with Susan and
Kate Hable began in 2011 with the industry’s first exclusive fabric
collection, Hable Construction for Hickory Chair. A select throw
pillow collection followed in 2013. Showcased along with the
Hable for Hickory Chair™ Furniture, Textile and Throw Pillow
collections in this catalogue, are Hable’s new Accessory Collection
by Maitland Smith® and Mirror Collection by La Barge®, our
sister brands.

Hable’s debut furniture collection is an innovative marriage of form,
texture and color. Practicality and ergonomics are emphasized via
elegant lines and material combinations. Walnut and Beeswing
Primavera, polished gold and polished nickel, printed leathers and
extruded metals, live alongside rich linens, velvets and organic cottons cultivating a fresh, vibrant and
all-encompassing furniture collection.
Refined lines catch one’s eye, leading to unexpected textile pairings and playing with proportions and
visual balance. This dialogue creates a harmony as each piece’s story unfolds, creating meaning and
inviting one to share in this aesthetic and form driven narrative. “Designing this collection is very much
an expression of my art, how ‘lines’ play a huge role in my life. It all starts with the elegance of a line,”
says Susan Hable. “I love delving into cultures and cultivating these influences over history and time;
this concept, and the literal layering of materials and textures, play such an import role in creating an
elegant space with impact.”
Inspired by pioneers of mid-century design, like Gio Ponti, and the clean lines and purity found in
Scandinavian design, fused with world history, travel, art, and textiles, Hable for Hickory Chair™ is the
natural progression of Hable Construction, a design firm at the forefront of colored textiles printed in
the United States.
Susan brings a new dimension to the expansive Hickory Chair product line. Her passions for color,
fashion and inventive designs, have joined to create a collection of furniture with a progressive and
transitional vibe. While the Hable for Hickory Chair™ Furniture collection has its own iconic aesthetic,
her pieces will coalesce easily with our existing product offerings.
The Hable for Hickory Chair™ Furniture launch is a culmination of personal expression, exploration of
color, textiles and materials, joined with the creative spirit of Susan Hable, “All in all, a masterpiece”.
Susan continues, “I’m not obsessed with anything besides making.
Design is paramount in life; I design pieces that I want you to live with.”

Gray Goose Feather fill in a down-proof ticking. The Fabrics were designed by Susan Hable and

Hable for Hickory Chair™ Fabric Collection
The Hable for Hickory Chair fabric collection was introduced in 2011 as Hickory Chair celebrated
its 100th Anniversary. This partnership is the first in our industry to pair an American textile brand
with a domestic furniture maker. A group of thoughtfully designed woven fabrics and distinctive
prints by Hable Construction have been created in collaboration with our team that are dynamic,
classic and only available through Hickory Chair. Each fabric in this exclusive collection is made in
North Carolina. These energetic fabrics designed by Susan Hable were carefully created to accentuate
and complement the color palette of our existing Hickory Chair fabric assortment.

Hable for La Barge™
Susan Hable collaborated with the talented artisans and craftsmen of Maitland-Smith to create this
sneak preview of a large accessory collection that is being introduced in October 2015. Crafted from
fine materials, Susan has and is, creating a distinctive collection of mirrors, candlesticks and table
top accessories exclusively for Maitland-Smith. The inaugural assortment is shown below and many
