HEALTH CARE KITS
AND SCHOOL KITS
FOR CONFERENCE
JUNE 17, 2016
What a wonderful adventure it is to seek the
assistance of members of Northview to complete any
task. I am at a loss for words except thank you, thank
you and thank you.
Each Monday I went to Northview to check kits
and pack them for shipping to UMCOR. Many of you
left extra supplies and all of those
items were utilized complete
additional kits. A handful of pocket
combs were left over which could not
be included in the kits per the
instructions we were given. Those
combs were donated and placed in the
Samaritan Inn box.
On Thursday, June 9, 2016 when I did the final
count, you had furnished 47 Health Care Kits and 27
School Kits. This count includes kits purchased with
the monetary donations. The United Methodist Women
had budgeted funds (from bake sales) and with the
dollar donations you included in the kits, we had
enough money to send to the district to cover the cost of
tooth paste and shipping.
Thank you to Phyllis Campbell for sewing the
containers for the school kits.
Again, many thanks to all of you.
Thanks to Emma for helping me load them in
my car on Friday so I could take them to the Berglund
Center.
Again, it is a pleasure to work with the people of
Northview.

ALL-U-CAN-EAT AND MORE!
Did you know that there's a Taco Pizza or a
Banana Cream dessert pizza? Both are available at the
local Pizza Den where Social Club members and
volunteers enjoyed the salad/pasta/pizza/dessert buffet
on Sunday, July 10. We ventured there last year and the
food, service and accommodations were just right for
our group. So, we went back! We enjoyed the food
and the fellowship and the Food
Committee enjoyed a welldeserved day off! This was all
made possible through a donation
2
from the Pathfinder Class and gifts from various
individuals in the congregation. An hour before
lunch, Pastor Joe had preached about loving your
neighbor. Hopefully, Social Club members can
“feel the love”.
Kemberly Smith from Blue
Ridge Behavioral Health Care will
present a program at the August 21
meeting (note date change) and the
Journey Class will provide lunch.
The All Social Clubs Picnic will be held on
Thursday, September 22.

THANK YOU!
I would just like to thank the Northview family
for the many prayers, calls, cards, visits and gifts during
my illness and surgery. God has blessed me with such a
praying church family and those prayers held me
together during this tough time.
Blessings, Marcella Jordan
Thank you to all for the phone calls, cards,
prayers and visits during my hospital, rehab stay and
finally relocating to assisted living. Your thoughts and
caring has meant very much to me during this difficult
time.

To Northview United Methodist Church and
Congregation,
I really appreciate the generous graduation gift.
I also appreciate all of the support and encouragement I
received from the Northview congregation. Going back
to college this late in my life was a struggle, but with
everyone’s love and support I was able to see it through
and obtain my degree.
With love and blessings, Mark Shay
Dear Northview,
I am overwhelmed by the number of people who
have called, sent cards, offered their
time and assistance and of course their
prayers after my recent mishap with a
mechanical bull on Father's Day.
Thank you all very much. I am doing
unbelievably well and can't help but
think that there is someone watching
out for me who protected me from a much greater
injury.
I would also like to thank all who have offered
advice concerning my future endeavors in the Senior
Rodeo Circuit. After careful analysis of the video of
my accident as regards to my riding skills and technique
and of course taking into consideration the damage that
could be done by another blow to my neck, you will be
happy to know that I have decided to give up any
thoughts of continuing to pursue this path.
Have any of you seen those birdmen videos?
That looks exciting!
Love, Keith Moore
(June 19 date of injury)

Dear Northview UMC Family,
Thank you for all your friendship, support,
and encouragement for the past five years as pastor
of this very special congregation. Ann and I have
been blessed by the many worship, study, service,
and fellowship opportunities that form the strong
bonds of love between us.
Bishop Cho has appointed me to continue as
pastor for a sixth year. I believe that God is calling
me to faithful, fruitful ministry with you all. I look
forward to working together to discern God’s vision
for our church in the coming months.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Joe and Ann Klotz, Jr.
I would like the thank the
congregation of Northview for
helping and supporting M.A.D.
Camp this year. It was a
wonderful success and the
children were filled with joy and
song throughout the week.
Students created beautiful
masterpieces in art class, enjoyed
shaking and ringing bells, learned to dance while
swinging a bandana, and learned to project,
articulate, and pantomime a character while learning
about our Lord and Savior. Students learned Bible
verses each day, said their prayers, and practiced
good manners and showed love to their neighbors.
On Friday evening a fantastic show of handbells and
a visit to Tex Arkana's Donkey Dude Ranch relayed
the stories of "A Donkey Brayed and Balaam
Obeyed", "The Good Samaritan", and "A Donkey
Brings a Humble King". We finished the evening
with an art show, desserts and fellowship in the
Family Life Center. A good time was had by all.
Hee Haw!
Thank you,
Beth Simmons

Actual - Actual income and expenses for the six months ended June 30, 2016.
Approved Budget - The budget that was approved by the Administrative Board based on income
projections.
Percent of Budget - The percentage of actual income and expenses to the corresponding line item's approved budget for
the year.
Fully Funded Budget - The originally proposed budget that included payment of all apportionments, a 1.5% salary
increase for all personnel, equipment upgrades and full committee requests.
Net - A positive number represents income exceeding expenses and a negative number represents a loss position where
expenses exceed income. The budget for 2016 included the utilization of much of the prior year surplus to bring the
budget into balance.
Summary: We continue to be in a positive net income position for the six months ended June due to stronger collections
and timing of a special offering. Total expenses were under budget primarily due to timing of expenditures.
So far this year, we have not had to use any of the prior surplus that was budgeted.
Family Life Center Mortgage - 53 payments remain on the Family Life Center loan with a mortgage balance of
$155,966 at the end of June. The monthly mortgage payment is $3,261 and the current campaign ended in June.
FAMILY LIFE CENTER CAMPAIGN
July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2018
Thank you to all who pledged to the Family Life Center Building Fund Campaign.
To date: 46 pledge cards received for a total of $68,264.00.
