The braided cord does not have a reverse roll stop on
shadings with the Shangri-La Hardware Systems. If a shading
with the UltraSleek Plus or the UltraSleek Head Rail is raised
above 24” in the reverse roll mode, there is a possibility of
the fabric rubbing on the head rail. Comfortex reserves the
right NOT to warrant wear and tear of fabric if damaged by

shading will become slightly shorter.

Omni-View System
Shangri-La with UltraSleek, UltraSleek Plus Systems feature
the Omni-View™ Cord System. The Omni-View System
provides the ability to manipulate the shading into various
viewing positions. There are variations in visibility through
the shadings when the vanes are tilted to their maximum
open positions. The following five modes can be obtained
with standard shading operation when viewing the
shading at eye level.
• Closed top, open bottom: By partially lowering the
shading from the fully raised position, the upper
portion of your window will become semi-opaque
while allowing a clear view below.
• Fully private: When lowered completely, Shangri-La
provides complete privacy and softly diffused light.
• Partially open: Opening Shangri-La slightly will
gradually increase the level of light and allow varying
levels of view through.

easy, cord free motorized operation for the budget
savvy homeowner. PowerTouch uses Simplicity motors
and components. No programming is required with

Ultraviolet light, entering the home as sunlight, damages

Vanes on the three styles of Shangri-La fabrics open to
slightly different degrees. Consequently, there are variations
in visibility through the shadings when the vanes are tilted
to their maximum open positions. The variations among the
products are shown in the below illustration when looking
through the shading ¼ of the way up from the bottom.
Shangri-La vanes are not designed to close
tightly. The inherent nature of the fabric will
cause a slight increase in the distance from the
front sheer to back sheer as you move further
down the shading. These vanes do not form
a perfect seal against light leakage which is
most visible toward the bottom of the shading.
Vane overlap ensures that privacy is not
compromised.

Please use a metal tape measure for accuracy from home
to factory.
The head rail must be installed perfectly level and installed
evenly to ensure smooth operation. On an inside mount, it
is recommended that you check to see that the mounting
surface is level and consistent. If your soffit needs to be
leveled, this should be done before measuring.
Inside Mount
Measure across the width of your window opening in three
different places - top, middle and bottom. Measurements
should be taken within the window jamb. Provide the
smallest of the three measurements to Comfortex. Be exact.
Comfortex will make the necessary deductions to fit the
window opening.
Measure the length of the window opening from the
underside of the soffit to the surface of the window sill in two
places - use the smallest of these two measurements.
Outside Mount
Measure the exact width and length of the area to be
covered. On the width, allow at least 1½” of an overlap on
each side. An overlap of 3” on each side is recommended.
Be sure to take into consideration any obstructions such as
window trim, molding, locks and window cranks.
Side Mount
Side mount is not available with the roller system or with
DoorStyles Shadings.
Shangri-La may be side mounted using “L” brackets. For
side mounts, follow the instructions for inside mounts. An
additional ½” will be taken off the standard inside mount
deduction to allow room for the “L” brackets.
The maximum shading width utilizing the side mount option is
48”.
Hold Down Brackets
Shangri-La hold down brackets are made of a clear plastic
which fit into holes in the endcap of the bottom rail.
Extension Brackets
Extension or “L” brackets are available to project the back of
the shading from the mounting surface. Those shading with
metal roller system, it will project 2½”. The extension brackets
for UltraSleek and UltraSleek Plus Head Rail projects it 3”.
Spacer Blocks
Spacer blocks project the shading 3⁄8” from the mounting
surface. Use spacer blocks to obtain clearance when
obstructions, such as window cranks or door handles, obstruct
the movement of the shading.
Leveling Shangri-La Sheer Horizontals
Shangri-La Window Shadings are leveled and weighted in
the factory. When installed level, the fabric will not skew
when raised. If the head rail is not installed level, skewing
can occur that can damage the edge of the fabric. Be sure to
follow the installation instructions carefully to ensure correct
and balanced operation.

Fabric Positions
Shangri-La SoftTones Shadings Operation
Shangri-La SoftTones Shadings incorporate solid and sheer
front fabrics with 5½” solid fabric vanes. By aligning the
sheer or the solid portion of the fabric, you can control the
amount of light that enters the room.
Shangri-La SoftTones Shadings cord loop control provides
the ability to manipulate the shading into various viewing
positions. There are variations in light control when the
solid and sheer horizontal front fabrics and the 5½” vanes
are moved into different positions. The following can be
obtained with standard shading operation when viewing
the shading at eye level.

When privacy is a concern, Ballet
light filtering vanes are recommended.
The light filtering vanes provide
maximum closure and privacy while
retaining the light diffusing properties
of the sheer fabric.

Ballet Operating Options
Inside Mount: Fascias are assembled prior to shipping and
attach to the head rail with bracket (Figure P).
Ballet Performance Drapery Sheers are available with two
options to operate the sheers:
• Cord and Chain Combination • Tilt Wand
Cord and Chain Information
The Ballet track system uses a cord and chain combination
for vane rotation and traversing. This easy-to-use combination
opens and closes the sheers, along with providing smooth
vane rotation. The cord, chain and cord tensioner are white.
• The chain rotates the vanes effortlessly and is supplied
with chain tassels.

Outside Mount: Fascias are assembled prior to shipping and
attach to the head rail with a mounting clip (Figure Q).
• The traverse cord allows the vanes to move to and from
the stacked position. The traverse cord is fitted with a
cord tensioner device.
• The standard traverse cord length with the tensioner will
equal the height of the blind and is fully adjustable.
• The standard rotation chain length is 2⁄3 the height of the
vertical sheer and is fully adjustable.
• Custom length drops are available on both the traverse
cord and rotation chain. Please specify the length in
inches when ordering. The minimum chain length is 12”.

The rotation chain and traverse cord may be placed on either
side for a split or side stack shadings. The controls must be
placed on the same side and cannot be split. The standard
side stack cord and chain position is on the stack side. For
split stack applications, the track system is symmetrical,
allowing for easy installation and reverse-ability.
Tilt Wand Control
The Tilt Wand is a convenient
alternative to the traditional cord
and chain control. This single
control system protects children
and pets from injuries caused by
pull cords.
• The wand is a single control
that provides both traversing
and rotation of the vanes.
Twist the wand to rotate
vanes open and closed. Pull
the wand across the blind to
draw the vanes back and forth.
• The wand control is white.
• Opposite side to stack control placement is not available
with tilt wand control.
• Split stack verticals are not available with tilt wand
control.

Ballet Fabric may be processed with a topical treatment to
resist flames and adheres to strict flammability codes.
Ballet Drapery Sheer Fabric
Ballet Performance Drapery Sheers fabric may experience
minor variations due to heat, humidity and other room
conditions. These variations can result in light bowing,
puckering and dimpling of the drapery sheer material. This is
considered normal and does not constitute a failure in either
workmanship or materials. The possible variations are minor
and have been shown through case study not to detract from
the beauty of the product.
Rotation
Ballet Performance Drapery Sheers are a unique and highly
innovative soft drapery alternative that provide UV protection,
light control and privacy.
• The Drapery Sheers’ unique hinged fabric allows soft
fabric billows to form without the necessity of vertical
vanes. When in the view through position, the soft
flowing drapery billows show only sheer fabric, keeping
the solid portion hidden.
• When standing in front of and looking directly at the
shading in the closed position, the sheers provide peak
privacy.
Ballet Performance Drapery Sheers rotate and traverse to
the side, providing a full range of light control and privacy.
Through the use of a cord and chain combination or wand
control, Ballet Sheers can be rotated into the following
positions:
Vanes Stacked: The sheers are
pulled to the side to provide a clear,
unobstructed view. Sheers should be
rotated to the open position before
being pulled closed and stacked.
Vanes Rotated: Enjoy variable degrees
of privacy and light control when the
sheers are rotated closed.
Ballet Drapery Sheers Light Control and
Privacy
Vanes Open: Light is softly diffused
when the sheers are open and drawn.
• Ballet sheers can be rotated in either direction (left or
right) to the desired angle of closure, allowing you to
adjust the level of privacy for any point in the room.
Vane closure varies from top to bottom providing
optimum closure in the top ¾ of the product.
• Optional light filtering or room darkening PVC vanes
can be added for increased privacy, closure and light
control.
Split Stack Closure Gap
Split Stack Closure Gap is the distance between the two
fabric sheers of a split stack design when the sheers are
drawn together. The gap appears in the top* portion of the
shading when the sheers are rotated to the view-through/
open position. When the sheers are rotated to the closed
position, the Split Stack Closure Gap disappears.
The split stack closure gap is 3⁄8”.
* Carriers are configured to butt together as close as possible
to minimize the gap and keep it in the top portion of the sheer
only. Sheers flow together and the gap virtually disappears
as you view along the length of the drapery (Figure R).
End Closure Gap
An End Closure Gap is the distance from the end of the
Performance Drapery Sheer to the end of the track. The End
Closure Gap is up to 2” when the sheers are rotated to the
view-through/open position. When the sheers are rotated
closed, the End Closure Gap disappears (Figure S).

Stacking Design
Ballet Performance Drapery Sheers are available in opposite,
side or split stack designs. Any design may be mounted
inside or outside of thewindow opening. The rotation chain
and traverse cord must be placed on the same side and
cannot be split.
• Side stack shading may draw open to the left or right
side. The controls may be placed on the same side of
the stack or the opposite side. Controls cannot be split.
Opposite side to stack control placement is not available
with tilt wand control (Figure T).
• Split stack shadings draw open to both sides equally.
Controls may be placed on either side (Figure U).

• An opposite stack shading is a side stack shading that
has controls on the opposite side of the fabric stack.
Opposite stack is not available with tilt wand control.
Stack Back
For a window or door opening to be fully uncovered when
an outside mounted blind is drawn open, you must take into
account the width of the vanes stack(s) called a stack back.
These charts (found on pages 42-43) can also be used to
align the shading with moldings or other design features.
Due to the nature of the Ballet Performance Drapery Sheers,
the stack back may vary slightly based on fabric selection.
The stack back chart provides guidelines to assist you in
determining the vane stack for your customer’s application.

You can determine the stack back using the stack back charts
by following these four steps:
Side Stack with Wand Control
If the “Uncovered Width” is 85”, the “Ordered Width” size
is 100”.
Side Stack with Cord Control
2. Select the correct chart - there are charts for cord and chain
operation or wand operation. Locate your measurement
from Step 1 in the “Uncovered Width” column on the
side stack or split stack charts. The “Uncovered Width”
measurements include all measurements up to the
measurement listed on the chart. For example, if your
side stack width is 81” with cord, locate the 811⁄8”
measurement on the cord side stack chart.
If the “Uncovered Width” is 115”, the stack back amount
is 1613⁄16” for each panel. The “Ordered Width” size is
1343⁄8”.
The customer wants her 84” wide patio doors to be
uncovered when her side stack Ballet with wand control is
drawn open. To minimize any light gap on the side opposite
the fabric stack when the vertical is drawn closed, she wants
a 4” overlap on the right side.
3. Follow the line across to find the correct “Ordered Width”
for that range.
Opening width + overlap on right side: 84” + 4” = 88”
Uncovered width (rounded up to the next unit) for side stack
units: 89½”.
4. After determining the correct width to order, confirm that
there is enough room to outside mount the vertical at that
width.
The correct ordered width is the uncovered width plus the
stack back: 1031⁄8”.
Cord Control
The maximum uncovered width on a side stack is 169¼”.
The maximum uncovered width on a split stack is 165¼”.
Wand Control
The maximum uncovered width on a side stack is 126”.

1. Measure the desired uncovered width, rounding the
measurement down to the nearest 1⁄8”. With side stack
units, include in the measurement the desired amount of
overlap on the side opposite the fabric stack. Comfortex

Outside Mount (Figures Y and Z)
• Use a steel tape to measure the exact height and width
of the area to be covered. Comfortex recommends 4”
overlap on each side to minimize potential light gaps.
To measure the width for a shading that fully uncovers
the opening when drawn
• When the fabric does not hang to the floor, a minimum
4” overlap is recommended below the bottom of the
opening.
• When the fabric hangs to the floor, Comfortex
recommends that you allow for a ½” bottom clearance.
Please deduct before ordering.
• Ballet is mounted using a bracket that can be extended
to project the shading beyond obstacles. By adjusting a
screw and wing nut, the bracket can be easily adjusted.
Fully extended, the bracket measures 83⁄16” (see Figure
X).
Comfortex accepts measurements down to 1⁄16” increments.
Inside Mount (Figures V and W)
• Use a steel tape to measure across the width of
your window opening in three different places - top,
middle and bottom. Provide the smallest of the three
measurements to Comfortex. Be exact. The factory will
make the sheers ¼” narrower for operating clearance.

Ballet Drapery Sheer Panel Only Program
Drapery Sheer fabric can be ordered by the panel for use on
your own track system. The fabric panel will be fabricated
with fabric hangers that are permanently affixed (see figure
at right).
The number of panels needed will be calculated based on
the number of carriers on your track and the stacking option
selected. For more information see the Panel/Carrier Charts
below.
Each fabric panel will contain 3, 4 or 5 billows. For more
information see the Panel Configuration Chart on page 48.
Please Note: Ballet panels are designed for tracks with carrier
spacing no greater than 3½”.

Regular feather dusting or light vacuuming will help keep
your Performance Drapery Sheers looking new for years.
Spills and stains can be lightly blotted with a cloth or damp
sponge. Be careful not to pull or tug on the fabric.
Due to the delicate nature of the fabrics, limited removal and
handling is recommended. If necessary, Drapery Sheers may
be washed by hand or machine washed on gentle cycle in
a mesh bag. Please review the installation and care guide in
the Ballet Installation Instructions for detailed information on
proper removal and handling.
9. Minor wrinkles may be removed by lightly steaming or
ironing the panels on a very low setting.
Please Note: Excessive handling may lead to separation
along hinge line and subtle fraying along top and bottom
edges of fabric panels.
Washing may affect the hand of the fabric which may cause
the drapery sheers to perform slightly differently from before
they were washed.
Ballet Performance Drapery Sheers can be ultrasonically
cleaned. Comfortex acknowledges these cleaning methods
as being safe and effective. We cannot attest to the quality of
equipment or services provided by any independent cleaning
facility.
Movable Stack
The Decomatic ® track

allows homeowners to push
the vanes out of the way in
order to wash windows.
Simply draw the vanes
completely closed and
gently push the small block
on the end retainer up and
slide the end carrier in the
opposite direction that the
vanes stack. The carrier
clips will move freely within
the track, allowing the
vane stack to be moved to
the opposite end. When finished, simply slide the end carrier
back and snap it into the end retainer.
Ballet Washing Instructions
1. Remove the room darkening vanes if applicable. Be sure
to hold onto the PVC vane hangers for re-installation.
2. Gently remove fabric from track. Remember to support
the full weight of the drapery sheer panels. See the
installation and care guide in the Ballet Installation
Instructions for details on proper removal.
Child Safety
3. Treat stains with a stain remover stick if applicable.
4. Neatly fold and place each drapery sheer panel into its
own mesh bag. Do not unsnap fabric hangers within a
panel.
5.Wash in cold water on the gentle cycle with a gentle
detergent.

Child Safety
All Comfortex products have been fully tested and proven
to comply with the current WCMA Standards for safety of
corded window coverings.
Be aware that it is possible for children to become entangled
in window covering cords. To reduce the risk of accidents,
all cords must be kept out of the reach of children.
The cord and chain combination used on Ballet Performance
Drapery Sheers utilizes a cord tensioning device to keep
children and pets safe.
A wand option is also available which eliminates the need
for cords all together.
A cord tensioner is an effective way to implement this
essential precaution. Please use them. To mount the cord
cleat at a safe height, take into account furniture or other
objects upon which a child may climb. Then, after the use
of the shade, simply wrap the excess cord around the cleat.
Cord tensioners used on Shangri-La and Shangri-La SoftTones
Shadings continuous cord loops keep the continuous cord
loops taut to prevent children and pets from becoming
entangled and subsequently injuring themselves. Cord
tensioners must be used with Shangri-La and Shangri-La
SoftTones Shadings to comply with the Consumer Product
Safety Commission (CPSC) Child Safety Guidelines.
The cords on this product present a
potential strangulation hazard.

All Comfortex products are custom fabricated to your exact
specifications. We cannot accept responsibility for errors in
ordering or cancellations and charges after the order is in
production.
Service and Repair
Policies
Our policies are designed to provide a guide for doing
business with Comfortex. Our first priority and number one
policy is to provide the highest level of service and total
satisfaction.
Freight
Comfortex will ship all orders for fabricated shades or blinds
freight free via UPS, FedEx Ground or other similar method
within the continental United States*.
A $3.75 per unit transportation surcharge will be added to
all fabricated product orders, within the continental United
States, including shades/blinds, vane packs, individual
vanes, tracks, valance and cut yardage orders.
In addition, a $65.00 Common Carrier surcharge** will be
added for all orders shipped within the continental United
States*, that include shades or blinds with widths of 98” or
more and are required to ship by motor freight. Exception:
Verticals with lengths of 84” or more, and Roman Shades
with widths of 94” or more are required to ship by motor
freight.
*Hawaii: Shipments to the Hawaiian island of Oahu will
incur a freight charge of $60.00 per order, plus $3.75 per
unit. All other Hawaiian islands will incur an $90.00 per
order freight charge, plus $3.75 per unit.
**Hawaiian Common Carrier Surcharge: An $90.00
Common Carrier surcharge for oversized shipments will be
added to orders shipping to Hawaii.
*Alaska: Shipments to Alaska will incur a $6.00 per unit
transportation surcharge.

materials will be authorized for return or repair without prior

your Comfortex Work Order number and original order
information available when you call.
Specifications
All Comfortex products are designed and tested to perform as
intended within established, published parameters. Requests
for “custom fabrication” of products outside of our published
specifications may be considered, but are at the discretion
of the Comfortex Technical Services department. Restrictions
and additional charges apply.

Motorized Shadings Warranty
Somfy Motors
Somfy offers end product suppliers a 5 year warranty on
all motors and controls. Specifically, Somfy warrants its
motors and controls to be free from defects in material and
workmanship under normal and proper use for a period of 5
years commencing with the date stamped on each product.
If the Somfy product fails within this 5 year period, Somfy
will repair or replace it free of charge through the end user
product supplier. Batteries are not covered by the warranty.
Simplicity Motors including PowerTouch Shadings
We offer a 5 year warranty on all motors and controls.
Specifically, we warrant the Simplicity motors and controls
to be free from defects in material and workmanship under
normal and proper use for a period of 5 years commencing
with the date stamped on each product. If the Simplicity
product fails within this 5 year period, we will repair or
replace it free of charge through the end user product
supplier. Batteries are not covered by the warranty.
All Other Countries: All United States dealers requesting to
ship orders outside the United States must provide a freight
forwarder for Comfortex to ship to within the continental
United States. Comfortex cannot ship directly to your
customers located outside the United States.

General Information
Canada: Shipments to Canadian dealers will incur a $3.75
per unit transportation surcharge. In addition, ground
shipping charges will be invoiced on a monthly basis as
a percentage of the shade order value, together with a
$90.00 Common Carrier surcharge for oversized shipments.
Ground Shipping charges are as follows: ($1.00 to $1,000
= 7%, $1,001 to $5,000 = 63%, $5,001 to $10,000 =
5%, and $10,001 or more = 4%).
Note: Comfortex reserves the right to select another carrier,
modify shipping terms or change freight policies without
notice.
Shangri-La Warranty Information
Shangri-La Fabric:
Knitted fabric may experience minor weave variations due to
heat, humidity and other room conditions. These variations
can result in light bowing, puckering and dimpling of the
Shangri-La material. This is considered normal and does not
constitute a failure in either workmanship or materials. The
possible variations are minor and have been shown through
case study not to detract from the beauty of the product.
Warranty Information Regarding the Braided Cord on
Shangri-La Sheer Shadings and Shangri-La SoftTones
Shadings with UltraSleek and UltraSleek Plus Hardware:
UltraSleek or UltraSleek Plus Shadings built with a braided
cord do not have a reverse roll stop. If a Shangri-La or
Shangri-La SoftTones Shading with the UltraSleek or
UltraSleek Plus Head Rail is raised above 24” in the reverse
roll mode, there is a possibility of the fabric rubbing on the
head rail. Comfortex reserves the right NOT to warrant wear
and tear of fabric if damaged by roll-up in excess of 24”.
Shangri-La and Shangri-La SoftTones
and Ballet Shadings Limited Lifetime
Warranty
Comfortex warrants that its window treatments will be free
from defects in materials and workmanship for as long
as the original residential purchaser owns the product,
provided that the product was installed properly and in
accordance with the installation instructions. The limited
lifetime warranty is extended to the original residential
purchaser only, in the original window for which it was
installed.
General Information
The warranty does not include any conditions or damages
resulting from accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse,
misapplication, improper handling, installation, repairs,
operation, cleaning, exposure to any and all natural and
manufactured excessive heat sources. (Excessive heat
sources include, but not limited to; magnification of sun
light through cubes of glass, heaters of any kind, ovens,
candles, lighting fixtures, etc.) This warranty does not cover
variation in fabric color, grain or texture. Normal wear and
tear is not covered.
All moving parts, such as cords, will eventually wear out
and fabric may fray. Comfortex considers these things as
normal wear and tear which will carry a three year limited
warranty. All fabric, including fabric vanes, panels, inserts,
and shades carry a five year warranty.
This limited warranty does not cover transportation costs
to and from the retailer, costs of removal, re-measure,
reinstallation of product, or any incidental or consequential
damages.
If a Comfortex product is found to be defective in materials
or workmanship, we will, at our discretion, repair, replace
or refund the cost of a product which fails to conform to
this limited warranty. Colors vary from lot to lot and may
not exactly match sample swatch, sample book, or previous
purchases. Discontinued components or color selections will
be replaced with the closest equivalent current product. This
shall be your sole remedy under this limited warranty.
To obtain service, the end user should contact the dealer
from whom they purchased the product.
This warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other obligations,
liabilities or warranties. In no event shall Comfortex or its
licensed fabricators or distributors be liable for incidental or
consequential damages, or for any other damage, loss or
expense, cost or fee associated with such damage. In some
states, exclusions for incidental or consequential damages
are not allowable.
This warranty gives specific legal rights, and customers may
also have other rights, which vary from state to state. Policy
is subject to change without notice.
This limited warranty is exclusive of commercial use.

The factory will fabricate your Shangri-La DoorStyles Shading
to the exact length ordered when the vanes are in the open (or
view through) position. When the vanes are tilted to the closed
position, the shading will become 13/4” longer. When closed on
an inside mount or when used with hold down brackets, a slight
puckering may occur.
Standard Shadings Comfortex will fabricate your window
shading to the exact length ordered +/- 3/8” when the vanes
are in the open or view-through position. However, because the
vanes rotate when closing, the shading will become 3/8” longer in the closed position. If
closed and not raised, a slight puckering can occur on the lower most sheer section.

five shadings simultaneously, individually
or in groups. SPECIFY WHICH CHANNELS
ARE ASSIGNED TO EACH BLIND OR GROUP OF
SHADINGS. For example; program line 1 to
channel 1, line 2 & 3 to channel 2, etc. If
no channels are assigned, all shadings will
be programmed to channel 1.

Ballet Fascias are an upgrade option and are not sold separately.
The width of the Fascia rod will measure exactly what is ordered. For an IB mount, order
the Fascia rod at least 1/8” less than the ordered width of the Drapery Sheer. For an OB
mount, add at least 1” to the ordered width of the Drapery Sheer. See the Ballet Drapery
Sheer Price List for complete ordering and measuring instructions.
