THE STORY OF THE GT 185

HISTORY
Glastron has a rich legacy of design, from the runabouts of the 60’s
and 70’s to the Carlson Series, these boats were known for their style,
performance, and attention to detail. Just as Randy Vance, editor of
Boating Life stated “Glastrons were the Ferrari of boats. If you were
driving one of these you had everyone’s attention.” To honor Glastron’s
history a new generation of models have been designed. These new
Glastrons are not just a boat, it’s a tribute to 55 years of exceptional boat
building.
GTR 160 & GT 160
GT 160
The new GT 160 is a provocative, modern design that uses cues from
the original GT of the late 1960’s. This 16-footer is designed to command
the waterways with eye-popping graphics and design lines that appeal
to a broad audience of boaters. The influence of past Glastron models
is apparent in every detail from the exterior lines to the windshield and
retro pull switches.

Following the success of the GT 160, the GT 200 and 205 were designed
with the same philosophy; to build a boat in a modern way that still
includes a part of Glastron’s history. The GT 200 and 205 are much larger
boats, designed for the whole family to use.
GTL 185

GT 180 & GT185
Next to follow in line is the GT 180 & GT 185. These newest models create
a link in the line up between the GT160 and GT200. Similar style elements
are present including the signature hull side spear, sweeping style lines
and roadster inspired windshield.
COLOR PLACEMENT
The color placement on the spear in the hull makes a large visual impact.
You instantly notice this is a Glastron. Color on the deck is available as
an option for even more excitement.
Hull Design
The GT 180 is designed with Glastron’s SSV hull, Super Stable Vee Hull,
which provides great acceleration and handling.
LAYOUT
A wide cockpit allows for three to four people to sit comfortably across
the rear bench seat. The cockpit depth has been improved from past
models for a comfortable and secure ride in any location, from the bow
lounges to the aft seat.
UPHOLSTERY DESIGN
The upholstery is an improvement from the old generation models with
a 1/2 inch additional foam in the seating. The spear shape has been
incorporated into many areas through out the boat including the hull
side storage compartments, coming pads, and designators. The racing
stripe style that was developed on the GT 160 has been carried through
out the rest of the line. These stripes draw your eye from the bow to the
stern, and tie the whole interior together.
TRANSOM
Large usable space mixed with good aesthetics makes this swim platform
and transom a great design. A grey mat with a Glastron logo is available
as an option to provide a soft touch, comfortable surface. A ski tow or
optional tower is also avaialbe for any type of water sports, towing, skiing,
wake boarding, etc.
STRINGERS
A full fiberglass stringer has been designed for the GT 185 for excellent
structure and rigidity. A key component of this design is the windshield
support. Pillars have been molded in to sit under the deck where the
deck and the windshield meet, meaning the hull and windshield will not
flex when in rough seas.
HARDWARE
Three cleats, one in the center of the bow, and two on the stern are
standard on the GT 185. Pull-up cleats including two additional midship
cleats are available as an option.
RACING SEATS
An improved design from the GT 160, this seat has the same look, with
additional shape and function. More foam has been added on the sides
for additional lateral support, a thicker headrest makes the seat appear
robust, and the backrest height is taller for more comfort. The bolster is an
option on the GT 185.
WINDSHIELD
This windshield, another exclusive design to Glastron, is inspired by
roadster type cars for an automotive look. The front glass was taken
directly from the GT 200 and GT 205, which means the GT 185 has a large
windshield and full protection. It features curved glass, a center walk-thru
and optional side wings.
BOW
The bow has space for two to lounge side by side, and a center seat for
facing aft. Large amounts of color in the upholstery creates excitement
and contrast from the white color of the deck. A new feature to Glastron,
optional fill in cushions, are available and a recess has been molded into
the deck to support the fill in boards.
DASH
The dash is taken directly from the GT 200 and GT 205, and has full
instrumentation. Inspired by retro styling and American muscle cars
the dash has manual pull switches that are reminiscent of an older
generation, large aluminum over sized tubes that give a technical look,
and oversized center gauges with two smaller ones.
SHIFTER
The GT 185 has great ergonomics from the steering wheel to the shifter.
A rigid support has been added in the deck that keeps the shifter and
coaming pad in place. Vinyl wrapped hull side panels give a unique style
to Glastron for a better finish and additional rigidity.
GAUGES
Retro styling and automotive inspiration is evident down to the smallest
details. These gauges are exclusively designed for Glastron and have
many small details such as a raised mask, giving them a thee dimensional
look, chrome accents, and technical font.
GLOVE BOX
The port glove box has been upgraded with an additional stainless steel
logo trim piece on the exterior and retention cables on the interior when
opened. Inside a Sony stereo system, 12 volt adaptor, and skid resistant
mat comes standard.
STORAGE
Storage under every seat and a large ski locker provides space to keep
plenty of gear. There are two type of storage compartments on the GT
185. Molded in, as seen on either side of the rear bench seat or covered
with trunk liner, like the bow. The ski locker is a complete fiberglass
construction and has plenty of length to store large items, 75 inches to be
exact. Vents designed into the lid allow for air circulation.
DRAINING
Two types of gutter systems have been designed into the fiberglass. Top
side gutters around the perimeter of the bow and cockpit keeps the
water out of the interior. If water does come aboard, gutters around
the upholstery will drain water into the bilge, keeping it away from the
seating areas.
ACCESS
The backrest of the rear bench seat hinges up for plenty of access to
mechanical components. Three access points have been incorporated
into the backrest.
TRAILER
The Glastron trailer has been redesigned for a better appearance.
Additional aluminum plates, chrome wheels, and color matched paint
are noticeable improvements on the GT 185.
FUEL SYSTEM
The GT 185 has been designed to receive the new EPA compliant fuel
system. This system prevents overflow with an automatic shut off, and has
additional components including better vapor barriers, heat shields, and
filters.

A brand new design, started on the GT 200 and GT 205, the GTS model
will be extended to the GT 185. Eye catching graphics and many
upgrades makes this boat stand out from the rest. A two tone gel
scheme offered in black or red with dynamic stripes and an overlapping
signature Glastron spear gives a unique look to the exterior style. The
optional tower is an exclusive design to Glastron and enhances the look
of this boat with it’s sporty lines and black color. The custom interior of the
GTS comes standard with two-toned red and black vinyl, an upgraded
steering wheel, and optional embroidered carpet.

SKI & FISH
The ski & fish is full of features you would expect to see on a fishing
boat as well as a few new ones. This model is designed to improve the
functionality and style of a typical fishing boat though new features
and graphics. Inspired by the professionals such as our sister company
Ranger, the unique hull side graphics are eye catching and represent the
activities the boat will be used for. The two styles of fishing seats offered
are designed to be multipurpose and easily storable. A casting “bike”
style seat and a folding bucket seat can be interchanged between the
bow and stern casting platform or stored away completely.
GTL 185
GTL - LEGACY PACAKGE
To bring a touch of luxury to Glastron, the GTL package which started
on the GT 160, will be extened to the GT line. This package includes
many upgrades such as a solid color interior in a rich saddle hue with
contrasting white sitiching and detailed diamond stitched vinyl. An
upgraded steering wheel with spinner cap comes standard as well a
unique patterned “chain weave” hull side material. The custom gel
scheme with a solid hull bottom and color on the deck makes this boat
truly unique.
