We had 25 people attend Monster Jam on February 16th. This time we switched it from the afternoon to the evening show. The result was we more than doubled our attendance from the last time we did this outing 2 years ago. Check out our recap and pictures of all the action here in the Trail News. Fatburger in North Olmsted was invaded by 21 hungry Trail Blazers for our meeting on February 24th. We enjoyed some great food and shakes. You probably noticed the picture on the front page. That’s Christian Apel about to devour the Triple King Burger…and he did! As of this writing, I am very pleased to report we have 8 people paid and registered for our NEW Spring Adventure at Camp McPherson and we already have 10 people paid and registered for the NEW Summer Adventure at Camp Oty’Okwa in Hocking Hills which includes the outdoor drama Tecumseh. We have finally distributed the call lists for the Ramrods. In addition to the emails you get from our Trail News Editor and us, from time to time you can expect a call from your Ramrod to either remind you of an upcoming event, or simply to inquire to see if you are planning to attend. This helps our OIC in the planning stages of an event. Join us for our NEW March events that include Indoor Baseball Training at Up To Bat West on Saturday March 1st from 7:45 PM to 10 PM and then hooking up with us at the Tow-Mater Exhibit for a Trail Blazers Meeting at the Cleveland Auto-Rama at the IX Center on March 16th at 1:00 PM. See details here in the Trail News. Old Trapper Mr. Zimmerman asked us at the meeting where exactly “Tow-Mater” might be located. Guess what? We really don’t know. We just thought it would be a pretty cool meeting location. From there, we’ll move to an area with tables and chairs. Here we have the makings for an adventure; something our sons can help Dad find! Good Luck! We hope to see you there! Greg & Matt Peel, 2008 Trail Boss [email protected] 440-884-2115 RECAP MONSTER JAM FEBRUARY 16, 2008 A group of 25 (Bena, Golias, Zimmerman, Puhalik, Gallo, Zgrabik, Everett, Muscatello, Kovacs and Peel) attended the Trail Blazers outing to the evening show at the Quicken Loans Arena for Monster Jam. Monster trucks in action were Full Boar, Pastrana 199, Brutus, Aftershock, Avenger, Rap Attack, Bad Habit and Grave Digger. We also got to see some freestyle motocross including one nasty fall off a bike, RC monster trucks leaping through the air and “the cannon lady” who was launched across the arena onto a net! We sat in section 130 and got to see plenty of excitement. This was the first monster truck event for not only some sons but dads too! Aftershock rolled over backwards in his wheelie attempt and Grave Digger won the wheelie competition. Brutus defeated Grave Digger in the racing competition. In freestyle, Avenger won but only because the silent judge broke the tie. It has 23 rooms, each with 2 queen beds. In the words of Matt from across the street, it looks like a motel but it’s located in a camp. And yes, linen and towels are provided so you can leave the sleeping bags at home. Only amenities these rooms don’t have are televisions. Lobby Room Fields Paintball Room Assignments: We will assign 2 fathers and 2 sons per room and we encourage you to request your roommates when you register. If you are a father with 2 sons, it will be just the 3 of you in the room. If your son is one that gives you a knee in the back (this might not be such a problem with a queen-size bed), you can also request a “single occupancy” for an additional charge ($35) and rooms are subject to availability. Meals: The camp will be doing an ice-cream social on Friday evening, serve a full breakfast on Saturday morning that includes sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, French toast, juice and coffee, provide Pizza Hut pizzas for lunch on Saturday and also provide us a continental breakfast on Sunday morning. Trail Blazers will grill a dinner which will include steak, potatoes and other meats on Saturday evening. Mystery Guest Saturday Morning The Peels are not only strong believers in making your events FUN, but we also believe they should be a bit INSPIRING and EDUCATIONAL. At 10:00 AM on Saturday morning, the Trail Blazers will welcome a mystery guest who will be making a presentation to our group. There is of course, a story behind why we’re doing what we’re doing and we will tell you about that as well. You are encouraged to bring your cameras. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Registration Trail Blazers Spring Adventure Apr 25-27th DADS NAME PHONE SON(S) NAME(S) REQUEST TO ROOM WITH (Please Make Checks Payable to Trail Blazers) Trail Blazers @ $70.00 per person =$ Paintball =$ Request for Single Occupancy @ $35.00 =$ TOTAL =$ Mail or Deliver To: Questions? @ $20.00 per person Greg & Matt Peel, Trail Boss 7682 Nassau Dr Parma, OH 44130 [email protected] H: 440-884-2115 C: 216-905-3247 * DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS SATURDAY APRIL 12, 2008 * 2008 TRAIL BLAZERS SUMMER ADVENTURE NEW IDEA…NEW EVENT…NEW DESTINATION “Of all destinations I’ve been to in Ohio…Tecumseh might rank #1” Greg Peel, Trail Boss th August 15-17 *HOCKING HILLS *TECUMSEH OUTDOOR DRAMA *LODGING AT CAMP OTY’OKWA $65 per person Limited to 45 Fathers / Sons REGISTER BY SATURDAY AUGUST 02, 2008 2008 Trail Blazers Summer Adventure Lodging Details, Details Trail Blazers have reserved the Coultrap and Cardinal Lodges at Camp Oty’Okwa, operated by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, and nestled in the forests of the Hocking Hills State Park and Nature Preserves. This camp has 700 privately owned acres alone to explore on the property that include rock formations, hollows and two large caves. The camp is also very close to major attractions within Hocking Hills State Park, some of which you will pass on your drive in. We also have access to their outdoor swimming pool so bring your swimming gear. Coultrap Lodge sleeps 25, has a great room with a TV/DVD/VCR unit and a furnished kitchen. The great room opens onto a deck which overlooks the woodlands and the front porch runs the full length of the lodge. It has bathrooms and showers inside. There is a nice grilling area outside and fire ring. Cardinal Lodge sleeps 20 and has a kitchenette and full bath. Both of these lodges contain bunk beds. You will need to bring pillows and sleeping bags. BEDDING, LINENS AND TOILETRIES ARE NOT PROVIDED. On Saturday evening, we will venture over to Chillicothe (hopefully by bus) for the ultimate outdoor drama experience…Tecumseh! Witness the epic life story of the legendary Shawnee leader as he struggles to defend his sacred homelands in the Ohio country during the 1700’s. A spectacle surrounds you with galloping horses, live military cannon in action and dazzling battle sequences.
