With each new year, organizations and individuals
working with Oracle technology and applications
face new opportunities and challenges alike. With
the complexity and change that issues like Big
Data and the Cloud bring to our universe, there
is a growing need for users to be more informed,
educated and connected to continue to advance
their organizations’ goals. This is where users
groups come in.
Participation and membership in user communities and groups is vital to remaining
informed and connected to resources to help you grow and advance professionally.
At COLLABORATE 13, three fantastic Oracle users groups, the IOUG, OAUG and
Quest International, come together under one roof to combine the strength and
expertise of each individual group to create something really special. By joining
forces, we’re able to provide unmatched training and education for and by the
Oracle user across multiple tracks and topic areas. In addition, COLLABORATE 13
provides an incredible venue for the 5,000 + members of our strong community to
connect, share experiences and do business.
Jeff West
Quest President
We extend our sincere thanks to our many speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and
volunteers. Through their efforts and unwavering involvement, the heart of the
conference — the educational content — takes shape. Please be sure to thank
them for contributing to the field of knowledge that provides the pathways for all
of us to grow and advance personally and professionally.
We have a tremendous Oracle presence this year, with over 300 associates
participating in sessions, panels, roadmaps and demos to exchange vital information
with you, to listen, converse and help propel you to greater success with your
technology investments.
This year, we have a few surprises in store, starting with a tag team effort for
the Oracle keynote presentation. Oracle President Mark Hurd will be making an
appearance at COLLABORATE 13 with a special announcement, so speculate
away! Joining Hurd is famed Team Oracle aviator and daredevil Sean D. Tucker,
whose full-throttle way of life is both inspiring and thrilling.

the word. Aron Ralston, fearless adventurer and subject of the Oscar-nominated film
“127 Hours,” joins us to present his keynote, “127 Hours: Between a Rock and a
Hard Place.”
Once the conference is over, please take some time to share your feedback. We are
committed to continuing to improve and enhance the value that COLLABORATE
provides to Oracle users, and your valuable input makes that possible. Please watch
your inboxes for your post-conference surveys and share your opinions to help

Aron Ralston
Adventurer & Subject
of the Film “127 Hours”
Aron Ralston demonstrates the human capacity for the extraordinary, proving anyone can survive the most
grueling circumstances. In 2003, his human drama grabbed headlines. An experienced climber, Ralston was
descending a remote Utah canyon alone when an 800-pound boulder broke loose, crushing his right hand
and pinning him against the canyon wall. After nearly five days—without water and with no hope of escape—
Ralston made a life-or-death decision. He chose life by severing his arm, rappelling a 65-foot cliff and trekking
seven miles to find his would-be rescuers. Ralston documented his experience in the New York Times bestselling memoir, “Between a Rock and a Hard Place,” which was adapted for the film “127 Hours.”
