The original McClellan saddle was developed for men during the 1800's who averaged in height of 5.5 to 5.7 and weighed 116 to 123 lbs., and rode horses that were extremely narrow with razor withers. We know exactly how this original equipment can hurt a horse and cause him to perform badly. This modern day McClellan saddle has two important distinctions from the original: It’s comfortable for you and won’t hurt your horse. The narrow to moderate twist with a low rise, dished cantle and slight seat pocket make this saddle extremely comfortable for long hours of riding at any gait or speed. The Captain version has the best of two saddles put together, the security of the Officer with front and rear leg blocking and the seat of the Battery. Weight: 19, 20 and 21 lbs. Bar length: 20, 21 and 22 for 15, 16 and 17 inch seats Fork: Slick and 4 inches high, measured from base seat. Cantle: 5 inches tall and 11.5 inches wide.
