Create Space
(Ages 8 - 14)
Calling all creative kids!
Are you curious? Creative? Inventive? Artistic? Or just bored and looking for something
fun to do with other creative kids?
Come join us for an opportunity to explore
your inner creative genius in a highly supportive and kid-driven environment. All projects
will be child led, hands-on and individual. We
will incorporate stress relieving techniques
to inspire children to get into their creative
minds and dig deep to explore such areas of
art, creative writing, cartooning, crafting and
designing. Some materials will be provided
and adult guidance will be available to help
move kids through their process. Please feel
free to send your child with any additional
materials you may have at home to enhance
their experience.
During their session children will move at
their own pace to develop their passion or
craft while learning more about themselves,
how they learn, what their creative process is,
and how to calm their mind.
Think of Create Space as a hands-on trip to
the Children’s Museum where children can
get lost for hours creating in their own time
and in their own way.
Over 14 years old and interested in Create
Space?
Great! Volunteer to be a mentor and create
alongside the younger kids.
What’s in it for you?
A chance to mentor a child, service hours, the
opportunity to explore your own creativity for
free! (Fee waived for all volunteers)

Wild Turkey Trek: Novak Sanctuary
Wild Turkeys are among the largest of our
local native birds. Help us search for these
alert and secretive birds earning their
living while hiding in our forests. Once
extirpated from Ohio they are now found
in every county in the state. It is hard to
believe that these 16 pound, 46 inch long
creatures with a 64 inch wingspan can
blend in so well that we rarely see them.
Meet at the Novak Sanctuary parking lot
on the east side of Townline Road almost
a mile north of State Route 82 on the
Aurora/Mantua border.

Winter Solstice Night Hike:
Aurora Sanctuary
The Winter Solstice is just a few days away
so come and celebrate some of the longest
nights of the year just a few days after
the December’s “Cold Moon” with a night
hike in the winter woods. The quiet, snow
covered forest is a special place and instills
a magical feel. If we have a clear night the
winter constellations along with the moon
beams will light out way. If clouds are covering us then bring a flashlight. Meet at
the Bretschnider parking lot on the north
side of Pioneer Trail a few hundred yards
east of Page Road in Aurora.

Gentle Flow Yoga
Flow Yoga is a popular form of yoga that synchronizes the body’s motions with the breath.
This synchronization results in a gentle, steady
workout. Achieving this breath synchronization ultimately increases the positive effects
of the yoga practice, which include: regulating the heart rate, warming the body to facilitate deeper stretches, and increasing mental
focus. Becoming aware of each and every
breath and movement blocks out distractions
and results in a kind of “moving meditation.”
Plenty of time is spent on integrating the practice through deep relaxation.
Bring a sticky yoga mat, a blanket, and a pillow.

Yoga and Meditation
Just in time to give you some extra skills to
navigate the holiday season! Yoga and Meditation! What is meditation? Swami Rama
says: “Meditation is a specific technique
for resting the mind and attaining a state of
consciousness that is totally different from
the normal waking state. In meditation, you
are fully awake and alert, but your mind is not
focused on the external world or the events
taking place around you. Neither is your mind
asleep, dreaming, or fantasizing. Instead, it is
clear, relaxed, and inwardly focused.” This has
practical value for all of our lives as it gives
us a chance to approach our affairs with this
same attitude so that we are more “responsive” and less “reactive”.
Our yoga practice is designed to de-stress the
body and mind through breathing techniques
and deep stretches that allow us to relax and
sit more comfortably in the meditative posture. You will have the option to sit either in a
chair or on the floor. Bring a yoga mat, pillow,
blanket and a meditation cushion (optional)

Ghost Hunting at the
Mansfield State
Reformatory
Journey to Mansfield Ohio on a unique ghost
hunting adventure. Stone walls and iron bars
they’re still here, but what of the humanity, if
you can call it that, of the old Ohio State Reformatory at Mansfield. What of the 154,000
inmates who passed through its gates in its
94 years as a working prison. Not to mention
their keepers, the wardens, and the guards,
the gravediggers, and the rest, what of them
remains? As it turns out, more than you might
think. No matter what their crime, some sent
to Mansfield have never left. The folklore of
the building is nothing short of diabolical.
There are many inmates that still walk the
halls of the OSR in search of something most
have not yet figured out. Reports of shadow
men darting in and out of the cells and the
disembodied voices creeping from empty
rooms, doors slamming, visitors being pushed
and scratched, and equipment failure are
some of the many experiences ghost hunters
will find. The OSR has been featured on My
Ghost Story, Paranormal Challenge, Ghost
Adventures, Ghost Hunters Academy, Ghost
Hunters, and Scariest Places on Earth.
The bus will leave at 5:15 p.m. sharp! We
return to Aurora at approx. 6:30 a.m. We plan
to arrive and check in between 7 - 8 p.m. then
tour the facility from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. A late
dinner of pizza and soda will be served. Independent investigating will run from 10 p.m.

evening. There will breakfast snacks available
