1. INTRODUCTION
Dear Competitors,
The 80th Monte Carlo Rally, returning to the FIA World Rally Championship in 2012 after a three year absence,
will be held from Tuesday 17th to Sunday 22nd January.
We look forward to welcoming all professional and amateur drivers alike and wish them all every success.
Automobile Sport allows all participating categories to compete against each other head to head. However, a
Promotion Category, with a €30,000 cash prize, is reserved for amateur teams only.
The return to the World Championship has allowed us to increase the length of special stages, which this year
will be 20% longer than the 2011 Monte Carlo Centenary Rally stages.
PROGRAMME
Following tradition, the 2012 rally will start in Valence (Drome) with special stages in Ardeche, Haute Loire and
the Vercors mountains, before returning to Monaco and Alpes Maritimes.
Reconnaissance will last three days, Saturday 14th to Monday 16th January, with a limit of two runs per special
stage route.
Technical and administrative checks finish at 12 noon on Tuesday 17th January at the same time as Shakedown.
The shakedown takes place south of Valence, near the D261, on the Plateau de Lautagne, 8 km from the
Service Park (which is typically located at the Polygon, in the Parc des Expositions).
At 7 p.m. on the same day, all competitors will be presented on the starting podium in numerical order, in front
of the Kiosque de Peynet (Champ de Mars).
After the Starting Ceremony, on Friday 18th, competitors will drive the “Le Moulinon – Antraigues” and “Burzet
– St Martial (via Ray–Pic)” specials twice, with a stop at the Valence Service Park around midday.
The following day, Thursday 19th, three specials will be held in Ardeche and Haute Loire: “Labatie d’Andaure –
Laborel”, “St Bonnet le Froid – St Bonnet Le Froid”, and “Lamastre – Alboussiere” with a stop in the Valence
Service Park before a 2nd afternoon run.
On Friday, the Drome special stages will be “Jean en Royans – Font d’Urle” and “Vassieux Cemetery – Col de
Gaudissart”, followed by “Montauban sur Ouveze: Eygalayes” to Monaco, with a finish scheduled for about 8
p.m.
On Saturday, the now classic stages of “Moulinet – La Bollene Vesubie” and “Lantosque – Luceram” will be held
in the afternoon for the first run and at night for the second.
A Power Stage, which distributes bonus points to the three fastest finishers, will close the Rally on Sunday 22nd.
It starts at 10 am, and runs from Sainte Agnes to Col de la Madone, a distance of 5.2 km.
In total, there will be more than 430 km of special stages contested in the 80th Monte Carlo Rally and some
1.300 km of link roads.

In conformity with the French general regulations governing sporting events and competitions on
public highway, the Organising Committee will take out an insurance policy with one or more
companies approved by the Monaco Government against accident, fire or explosion taking place
during the competition covering:
12.1. The financial consequences of civil liability devolving upon the organizers or the competitors
resulting from corporal or material damages caused to spectators, to a third party, to competitors,
however being specified :
that concerning the stages using closed sections of publics highway, civil liability of competitors
towards each other is guaranteed only for corporal injuries;
that civil liability of the competitor handling the steering wheel towards his co-driver is
guaranteed through the whole duration of the Rally.
12.2. The financial consequences of civil liability devolving upon the Organisers or the competitors
with regard to the representatives of the State or members of any public body attached to the traffic
authorities in connection with the organisation and controlling the event, or their legal
representatives for bodily injuries or material damages caused to them.
12.3. The financial consequences of civil liability devolving upon the State, Departments or
Municipalities through any damage caused to third parties by officials, police or military
representatives placed at the disposal of the Organisers or their material.
12.4. The general conditions of this policy will chiefly stipulate that the coverage is granted up to

damage the coverage is up to 2.286.736 € per accident.
12.5. The insurance certificate must also contain a clause specifying that the insurer, in case of
accident, surrenders all claim against the state, and the departmental or municipal authorities, or
any other person connected with these authorities, in any capacity.
Rally Guide 1
www.acm.mc
17
12.6. The coverage of this insurance will extend to all French “Départements” covered by the Rally.
12.7. It will become effective, at the earliest, from the time the start is given and will continue to be
so not only during the whole of the Rally and its subsidiary events as specified in the official
program, but also during the stay of competitors in the Principality of Monaco and the department of
the Alpes-Maritimes, The Alpes de Haute Provence, the Ardèche, the Drôme, and the Haute-Loire
until Sunday January 22nd 2012, at 19h00.
12.8. In case of retirement, exclusion or disqualification of a competitor during the Rally, the
coverage will automatically cease at that time. The time of this retirement, exclusion or
disqualification shall be considered being the one of the closing of the following time control.
12.9. In case of an accident, the competitor or his representative must notify in writing the insurers
within 3 days at the latest.
In case of breakdown service in a S.S. or during a road section the costs will be devolved upon the
competitor.
12.10. The insurance policy mentioned in the present article does not cover the responsibility
towards third parties of any competitor not holding an international licence.
12.11. The Organising Committee declines all liability concerning the consequences for breach of
laws, regulations and ordinances by competitors in the “Départements” they cross, such
consequences being solely the liability of those who have incurred or committed them.
The Organising Committee also declines all liability concerning any cataclysm, riots, demonstrations,
etc... of which competitors and persons aboard the vehicle could suffer and of which all
consequences (material, penal and sportive) will have to be supported by these ones.
NOTA: Competitors are informed that the insurers of the Organising Committee of the “80e Rallye
Automobile Monte-Carlo 2012” are at their disposal regarding any individual insurance they would
like to take out :
ASCOMA JH - 24, Boulevard Princesse Charlotte - MC 98000 MONACO
Ph: +377 97 97 22 22 – Fax: +377 93 25 08 22.
12.12. The service vehicles, even those bearing the special plates “ASSISTANCE” issued by the
organiser, may never be considered as official participants in the Rally. They are therefore not
covered by the insurance policy of the Rally and remain the sole responsibility of their owner.

bearing a serial number or a specific inscription of the event.
