The main reason for such a growth will be the continued rapid growth in wire rod production. Rapid economic development of Middle East which is highly affected by oil price, accompanied with industries infrastructure development Average growth rate of copper consumption will be 5% per annual of even more for the period of 2010-2030. 17 NICICO Projects and Their Importance in Local and Regional Development NICICO as a Mine base company intends to increase its production capacity in order to feed local consumers as well export purpose. This will assist to grow up of Middle East copper industries and allow faster industrialization in this area. NICICO Intends to increase its plant’s refined copper capacity from 252,000 tons copper cathode per annual to 700,000 tons per year 18 NICICO EXPLORATION PROGRAM NICICO has developed a program for Copper Deposit Exploration in Iran in order to maintain smelters feed’s available through local mines reaching 700,000 tons Copper Cathode Production Per Annual The program targets are: 1- To Complete National Exploration Data Base in Urumia –Dokhtar Copper Belt 2- To Reconnaissance of Buried Deposits 3- To Explore Cluster Copper Mines as well Sedimentary Copper Deposits 4- To complete national copper mines information bank. 19 NICICO EXPLORATION PROGRAM – DRILLING ACTIVITIES 320000 280000 240000 Drilling (m) 200000 160000 120000 80000 40000 0 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 Drilling 300,000 tons per annual copper cathode in a period of more than 25 years. •Considering Regional and international market capacity for copper cathode •Developing of upstream industries and increasing of employments rate locally •Working on HSE topics in NICICO System and Special attention to Water Recovery 28 NICICO Expansions Program-Key Issues •Refurbishment of existing plants to achieve sustainable production lines for next 25 years. •Special attention to social program for people who are living in the region of mines and copper factories •Achieving highest added value in shortest time frame for NICICO share holders 29 CONCLUSION NICICO has defined and planed for increasing of copper refined production in its factories to reach capacity of 700,000 tons per annual of copper cathode for a period of 25 years with a budget of 7000 million USD Appx. This will assist to grow up of Urumia Dokhtar local industries, NICICO sustainable Development and ensure availability of copper regionally and Internationally from reliable source of supply 30 Thank You for Your Attention 31
