The Degree of Readability of Seventh Basic Grade Book "Our Arabic Language" in Jordan and its Relation to some Variables Dr. Sami M. Hazaimeh Al Bayt University- Jordan Abstract: This study aimed to explore the degree of readability of Seventh Basic Grade Book "Our Arabic Language" in Jordan, and to identify the effect of gender, type of school, and the nature of knowledge presented in the readability of the book. To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher used the text completion test on two scientific and two literary texts selected from the book. The researcher carried on the test on a sample consisted of 412 Seventh grade male and female students from public and private schools. The findings of the study have shown that the degree of readability of the book was within the educational level. The findings have also shown that there were statistically significant differences in the degree of the readability of the book due to gender, in favor of females, and the nature of the text, in favor of scientific texts. Finally, the findings of the study did not reveal any statistically significant differences in the performance of students due to type of school.
