Welcome to the 2016 catalogue for Pisces Aquatics.
Pisces Aquatics is a sister company to Pisces Enterprises which has
been supplying the Pet Industry in Australia for over 50 years. As a family
business with over 120 staff, we understand the necessity and importance
of offering the best in customer service and quality products at an affordable
price.
Pisces Aquatics was established in 2011 after many years of research
and development to enable freshwater ornamental fish to be successfully
farmed in Australia. With extensive breeding and grow-out facilities on our
farms, Pisces Aquatics has the capability to supply your aquarium shop
with a vast range of species.

Angel fish belong to the Cichlid family originating from South America.
They are a popular aquarium fish with a unique shape and colours. Angel
fish are generally peaceful when juveniles and can become territorial when
they reach adulthood, especially when breeding. Large specimens have the
capability of eating smaller fish.

Platy fish are commonly referred to as “Live Bearers” meaning they give

Gouramis are native to Asia, from Pakistan and India to Malaysia and Korea.
They are divided into two types, Large Gouramis and Dwarf Gouramis.
Gouramis have a special organ, known as the Labyrinth Organ, giving them
the ability to breathe air from the surface of the aquarium, which allows
them to live in low oxygen environments.

best kept in groups of five or more. Barbs are tolerant to varying conditions
and are usually peaceful enough to keep in community aquariums. Barbs
have a robust nature and should be kept with similar species.

The Guppy is one of the world’s most widely distributed aquarium fish and
is originally from the north east of South America. Guppies are live bearers,

live for 3-5 years. They are peaceful fish, preferring to be in schools of 6

suited to most tropical community aquariums. Several of the species can
live in cooler climates such as the Crimson Spot Rainbow and Pacific Blue

Most Sharks and Loaches originate from South East Asia and are suited to
tropical planted aquariums. Sharks are popular due to their ability to adapt
to a range of differently stocked aquaria and Loaches for their character and
interesting behaviours. Loaches prefer to be kept in schools of 5 or more
and some Loaches can also be used for pest snail control.

Siamese Fighting Fish, or Betta splendens, are hardy, beautiful fish that are
available in many colours and varieties. One of the most popular fish kept
worldwide due their minimal care requirements, including their ability to be
kept in small tanks with no filtration. Bettas are able to breathe air from the
surface of an aquarium owing to a specialised organ known as the Labyrinth
Organ.

Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Compatibility: Male Betts are aggressive towards other male Bettas and
fish with a similar appearance, they can be kept in tropical community

There are many different species of Catfish that range from wood and algae
eating species to bottom feeding scavengers. These behavioural traits
can be used to the advantage of aquarists in the form of a clean-up crew,
