WELCOME DR. CECILIA BANGA!
Cecilia Banga, D.O., has joined
Wilson Care OB/GYN. She joins the
practice of Drs. Elizabeth
Brandewie, Valerie Schulte and
Courtney Slonkosky and Lisa
Pleiman, certified nurse
practitioner.
Dr. Banga offers a wide range of
obstetrics and gynecological
healthcare services for women of
all ages. She has a special interest in performing
minimally invasive surgical procedures including:
Endometrial Ablation; Laparoscopic Myomectomy
(uterine fibroids); Laparoscopic Hysterectomy; Tubal
Ligation and Pelvic Reconstructive Procedures.
Dr. Banga is a member of the International Healthcare
Volunteers program and makes annual trips to Africa
to perform gynecologic surgery and health education
for the local medical institutions.
Dr. Banga completed her OB/GYN residency at the
University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey
(UMDNJ) – School of Osteopathic Medicine. While at
UMDNJ, she served as Chief Resident and Student
Education Chief. Dr. Banga earned her Doctor of
Osteopathic (D.O.) medicine degree from Oklahoma
State University – Center for Health Sciences, in Tulsa.
Dr. Banga is a member of the American Osteopathic
Association as well as the American College of
Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She also
is affiliated with the American Association of
Gynecologic Laparascopists.

contributions to our hospital and we wish him the best
in his new position.
Wilson Memorial is pleased that Dr. Frederick Simpson
will assume the position of Hospitalist Medical Director
on October 1st. Dr. Simpson will be maintaining his
private practice and recently added Cindy Parziale,
certified nurse practitioner, to his office staff.
Congratulations Dr. Simpson on this expanded role!
THE NEW SWEET BEGINNINGS LACTATION
BOUTIQUE IS OPEN!
After a successful open
house on August 3rd, the
Sweet Beginnings Lactation
Boutique is up and running! Wilson Memorial has
extended our lactation services by offering a place
where breastfeeding mothers can seek advice, and
follow-up and receive assistance from certified
lactation consultants. All are welcome to visit the
boutique and utilize the services offered. Breastfeeding
supplies, such as breast pumps, nursing stools, nursing
bras, slings, and much more, will be available for
purchase by cash or credit card. There are no rentals of
supplies at this time. Sweet Beginnings will be open
Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed
weekends and holidays. Please contact Sharon Smart

Sweet Beginnings Lactation Boutique or with any
questions about the Family Birth Center!
HOSPITALIST MEDICAL DIRECTOR CHANGE
Dr. Kirk Crouser has accepted the position of Medical
Director of Critical Care at Blanchard Valley Hospital in
Findlay, Ohio. Dr. Crouser will assume his new position
in October and, as a result, his position as our
Hospitalist Medical Director will end on September

CHANGES IN EMPLOYEE PHARMACY PLAN
Effective September 1, 2011 the following changes
will be made to the Wilson pharmacy plan:
• Hours that prescriptions may be picked up
will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. but the
window will be open until 5:00 p.m.
• Antibiotics and Pain Medications, if received
by 2:00 p.m., will be filled the same day
• Prescriptions not covered under the WMH
plan will be filled at cost plus a $1.75
dispensing fee
• If a brand name prescription drug is
requested and a generic substitute is
available the employee is responsible for
payment of the difference in cost between
the two
• Over the Counter (OTC) drugs will no longer
be available through the pharmacy
If you have any questions with the new pharmacy
plan, please call the Pharmacy at 498-5417 or
Human Resources at 498-5505.
WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE UPDATE
Fourteen, five-person teams (many with very
creative team names!) and 43 individuals have
signed up for Wilson’s Biggest Winner-Ultimate
Thinner Weight Loss Challenge.
The challenge began July 11th and will run for 10
weeks, ending September 16th. Two mid-point weigh
in’s took place in August. After the first mid-point
weigh in a total of 271.2 pounds had been lost! All
participants have been receiving a weekly newsletter
and motivational emails throughout the program.
The challenge is sponsored by Anytime Fitness,
Onsite Fitness and Wilson‘s Wellness Committee.
A BIG THANK YOU!
Even with hot weather and then some rain, the 2011
Foundation Golf Outing was a success. There were
168 golfers and $43,000 was raised for the general
endowment fund! Thank you to all participants!

About: Dr. Slonkosky completed a
medical and surgical fellowship in
NaPro Technology through Pope Paul
VI Institute-Creighton University in
Omaha, Nebraska, and is one of only
eight physicans in the United States
with this special surgical training.
Dr. Slonkosky received her medical degree from Michigan
State University College of Human Medicine and her
Bachelor of Science degree from University of Notre Dame.

WELCOME CINDY PARZIALE, CNP!
Wilson Memorial welcomes Cindy
Parziale, certified nurse
practitioner (CNP) to our medical
team. She will work collaboratively
with Dr. Frederick Simpson and his
staff. She will be seeing and
treating patients on occasion and
as the practice grows, Cindy will
also be welcoming new patients of her own.
As a CNP, Cindy is an experienced registered nurse
who has completed advanced academic education
beyond her basic RN training. With her advanced
training, she can assume some of the diagnostic and
treatment responsibilities traditionally reserved only
for physicians.
Cindy received her Associates Degree in Nursing
from Edison State Community College followed by a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Indiana
Wesleyan University. After several years obtaining
experience as a registered nurse at Wilson Memorial
Hospital, Cindy completed her Master of Science in
Nursing Degree from Wright State University and
began work as a Nurse Practitioner.
Cindy has a wealth of experience as a CNP in
women’s health, pediatric health, adult health, and
family healthcare. Prior to her decision to join our
practice, she worked for Mad River Internal
Medicine in Bellefontaine for five years.
Welcome, Cindy! We’re very excited to have you
back at Wilson!
WELCOME ABBY FISCHER, CPNP!
Abigail (Abby) Fischer, certified pediatric nurse
practitioner (CPNP), will work in
collaborative effort with Dr. Karen
Smith and the rest of the staff, seeing
and treating patients of their pediatric
practice. As the practice continues to
grow, Abby will also be welcoming
new patients of her own. In addition,
the office will be having new,
expanded hours, including Fridays.
As a CPNP, Abby is an experienced registered nurse
(RN) who has additional education and training in
the specialty area of pediatrics. With her advanced
training, she can assume most of the diagnostic and
treatment responsibilities traditionally reserved only
for physicians.
Abby received her Bachelor of Science Degree in
Nursing from Wright State University College of Nursing
and Health. While obtaining experience as a registered
nurse at Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Abby
completed her Master of Science, Child and Adolescent
Health Degree from Wright State University College of
Nursing and Health.
Abby has been named a clinical expert in the areas of
acute care, cardiology, and intensive care by the
National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Prior to her decision to join our practice, she worked
for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus for
seven years.
Welcome, Abby! We are very excited to have you join
the Wilson team!
