Georgia Heritage FCU Raises $3,000 in 2012 Relay for Life Georgia Heritage staff and family members enjoyed the 2012 Relay for Life event held at Benedictine Military School in Savannah. Board Chairperson Jan Griner joined the GHFCU RFL team again this year. The group raised $3,000 for the American Cancer Society. Barnes & Noble Nook Winner Niyah Thomas (second from left) was the winner of the Barnes & Noble Nook Color at the Grand Opening of the Pooler office. Niyah is pictured with Mandy Gibson (far left), Alison Schubert (front), Abigail Barefield, and Tori Depeyster (far right). GHFCU Board Congratulates 2012 Scholarship Winners The winners of the 2012 College Scholarships were congratulated by the Board of Directors at the May Board meeting. South Effingham High School Senior Andrew Rushing, son of William P. and Suzanne Rushing of Guyton, won a $1,000 scholarship. Andrew will be attending Georgia Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in bio-medical engineering. Chelsea Riddle of Savannah is the recipient of the $1,000 scholarship for a continuing education student. A former 2010 GHFCU scholarship recipient, Chelsea is a full-time teacher at Bethesda Academy. She is pursuing her graduate degree in the field of communication sciences and disorders at the University of South Carolina. IMPACT JULY 2012 • PAGE 3 Member Appreciation Day Winners In April, Georgia Heritage held Member Appreciation Day with special gifts, food, and a door prize drawing. Winner at the Lathrop office was David Linton, shown with CEO Dale Taratuta, receiving his Kindle and GHFCU tote bag full of credit union giveaways (left photo). Winning the Kindle at the Pooler office was Marian Martin, shown with Branch Manager Billie Dees (right photo). Ribbon Cutting at Pooler Office Launches Day of Family Fun More than 500 people attended the Grand Opening of Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union’s Pooler office on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Attending the ribbon cutting were (left to right): GHFCU Director Russell Bright, Pooler Councilwoman Rebecca Benton, Director Brenda Elmgren, Pooler Mayor Mike Lamb, Director Emeritus Jerry Gill, President/CEO Dale Taratuta, Director Regina Lowery, Board Chairwoman Jan Griner, and Director J. D. Dyches. The Grand Opening event included giveaways, door prizes, and a money vault machine in the lobby. Outside, the crowds enjoyed New Country BOB 106.9, refreshments, a moonwalk and giant inflatable slide for the children. Awesome Signage for New Office in Pooler Members and area residents continue to offer their excitement and approval of the new Pooler office of Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union. The large monument sign, located on the Pooler Parkway just in front of the Publix shopping center, blends in well with other business signs in the area. If you haven’t stopped by the office, please plan a trip soon. In Pooler, the credit union is open 9:00 to 5:00 Monday through Thursday, 9:00 to 6:00 on Friday, and 9:00 to 1:00 on Saturday. PAGE 4 • JULY 2012 IMPACT Welcome New Staff Laura Hendrix Laura Hendrix is the credit union’s new Accounting Manager. With nearly 20 years of financial institution experience, Laura will manage the ACH, card services, and finance functions of the Georgia Heritage Accounting Department. Ruby Villa Ruby Villa recently joined us as a Member Service Representative and Outbound Call Specialist. She brings more than eight years of experience in the financial services industry. Ruby is excited to help members with all their lending needs! Billie Dees is RISE Award Recipient Billie Dees received the RISE Award presented in April by President/CEO Dale Taratuta. The quarterly award recognizes employees who embrace our core values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE). Branch Manager of the new Pooler office, Billie received a personalized certificate, a traveling plaque and $100 cash. Victoria Bartelt Victoria Bartelt recently joined the Georgia Heritage team as a part-time Collections Clerk. A recent resident to the Savannah area, Victoria is excited to assist our members and the credit union’s Collections Department. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Even when it comes to motorcycle riding! This spring, Liz Purdee noticed William H. Murphy driving his motorcycle through the credit union’s parking lot at Lathrop with a furry friend in tow. According to Mr. Murphy, the dog is two years old and has been riding with him like this for about eight months. Liz said, “I thought this was about the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long time.” Good job, Liz! Door Prize Winners at 2012 Annual Meeting Independence Day Wednesday, July 4, 2012 Labor Day Monday, September 3, 2012 Several attendees were prize winners at our March 2012 Annual Meeting. From left to right, Rosa Lee Sauls was the grand prize winner taking home a Nook Color. Her husband, Percy, won a box of GHFCU golf balls. E. D. Flowers won $50 while Olivia Gaines also won a box of GHFCU golf balls. Johnny Young was the lucky winner of $100 while Norman Kirby took home $50. Thanks to all who attended the event.
