instrument called rifle.We enjoy the accuracy and functions of fine rifles.
Sako has achieved fame and appreciation of true hunters all over the world
during it ‘s 90 years of rifle manufacturing.We are proud of our roots and the
achievements during these years.While the World has developed technically with
high pace, our goal is the same as it was in the company’s early years:To design
and manufacture honest, truly working and enjoyable rifles for outdoors people.
This is why we listen to our customers, their desires and preferences.The
information from real application creates reliable base to built up the rifle to
be proud of.With the same uncompromising way we have developed the high
performance Sako ammunitions and Tikka rifles.
Experience in hunting and nature cannot be learned just in the books, one has
to have personal experience, understanding and respect of many things that are
important for hunter.
Today, being part of the world oldest firearms company Beretta, gives us excellent
power to continue our work for hunters. Our Sako rifles are manufactured in
Finland, to last and work properly, give the owner perceived value and many
enjoyable moments for years to come.

90 Y ears of Accuracy
Sako was born in 1921. Original Finnish name for the company was Suojeluskuntain Ase-ja Konepaja
Osakeyhtiö. (Firearms and Mashine workshop of the Civil Guard) The company was established to make
and maintain the firearms that were used by the men in Finland´s newborn Civil Guard. Finland had
achieved independence in 1917,and voluntary Civil Guard had an important role in maintaining defence readiness for the young Nation. The firearms were mostly old military rifles, needing repair, rebarreling and service. Soon facilities in Finland´s capital Helsinki showed to be too small, and Sako was
relocated to a small town Riihimäki, about 75 km (46 miles) North of Helsinki, in 1927.
Besides military rifles, also rifles for competition and hunting were designed. Prototypes of sporting
rifles were designed and made already in 1930, but actual small caliber hunting rifles designed and
made in Riihimäki emerged during the 2.World War. L-42 was born, and further developed to L46 after the war.This small game centerfire rifle became
a world success. Sako was tested in several magazines and found the best production rifle “right out of the box”. Soon Sako developed larger bolt action
sporters, L579 “Forrester”, L61R “Finnbear” andVL 63 Lever action “Finnwolf” were added to the “Flock” of fine Sako hunting rifles.
In 1993 professional rifle designers decided to develop a dream rifle for devoted riflemen. Four years designers, metallurgist, product engineers and
marketing department worked to develop and test and shoot the new rifle that evolved into the Sako 75. The year of introduction marked Sakos 75th
anniversary. Full line of 5 different action sizes, detachable magazines, ergonomical stock, and various models emerged. Calibers ranged from 222 Rem
all the way up to 416 Rem.Mag. On top of the 75 models was 80th Anniversary Safari rifle , made in 375Holland &Holland caliber.
Sako Today
Sako has come a long way since the humble beginning. Today our design department is fully
computerized, all steel parts are made by the latest state of the art CNC machining. Some things
have not changed: we inspect barrels by human eye, and we shoot every rifle manually with proof
rounds and for accuracy. All of our rifles comply with C.I.P & SAAMI requirements.
In the turn of the Millenium, Sako became an honored member of the Beretta Group.
This gave Sako resources for even better product development and market response.
Model Sako 85 was developed , based on the vast experience of modernizing the bolt action rifle.
Further, model A7 was developed to give hunters to purchase an entry lever first class Sako rifle.
We also developed the Sako Quad, world´s first rimfire bolt action rifle, with interchangeable
barrels in 4 different rimfire calibers, for small game hunters and varminters. Sako Ltd. has become
a respected manufacturer of military and law-enforcement rifles. Our TRG 22/42 and Tikka TAC
are in active service duty around the world.Tikka hunting rifles are made by Sako Ltd. in Finland
and have many hunting friends as well.
Today our line of Sako 85 rifles is still adding an important 6th action size. 90 years Anniversary is

Barrel
Extractor & Ejection
All Sako 85 models have free-floating barrels manufactured by Sako
specialists. Barrel blanks are drilled, honed, cold-hammer forged and finished,
and finally individually inspected by complex and highly refined optical
fine tuning instrument: the human eye.Twist rate is chosen for each caliber
to optimize accuracy and bullet performance.The Sako 85 barrels, blued or
stainless, have non-reflecting, satin-like surface except the Sako 85 Deluxe
model that comes with highly polished metal parts.The Sako 85 stainless
steel barrels are made from stainless steel with raised chromium content for
better weather resistant and durability.
Sako 85 has famous extractor claw made of very
durable heat treated special steel.When bolt brings
the case back ,it is ejected by the active mechanical
ejector fork out of the rifle. Ejector is in the rear
bridge bottom, not in the bolt face.

from 1 to 2 kg (2 – 4 lbs). An optional
single-set trigger is also available for

We do not guess or believe, we test. Every rifle is delivered
with the certification of proof test and accuracy.
Most of the Sako 85 models with blued barrel finish are offered
with optional adjustable iron sights.The front bead is adjustable in
elevation and rear blade in windage.
The Sako 85 Walnut stock ergonomics are optimized
to quarantee the best shooting posture. Excellent
balance and smooth bolt operation make straight,
accurate, fast shooting phenomenal to Sako rifles.

The Sako 85 actions are available in 6 different sizes (CSA), providing
the very best functions for each cartridge size. All Sako 85 models feature
controlled cartridge feed (RCS) to virtually eliminate double feeding
or cartridge jam.The Sako turnbolt handle gives natural hand position
during bolt operation, which allows very quick repeated firing.

magnificent places all over the world.The one constant in
all these outstanding experiences is my most important
companion: my rifle. It’s a Sako – always has been and
always will be.To me, Sako firearms have always meant

90th Anniversary rifles
We are bringing 6th action size to our 85 bolt action hunting rifles.This means, that our
selection of calibers is growing, in the upper end.The 90 Anniversary rifles are all Safari
Grade.The very top grade 90th Anniversary guns have individually engraved actions.
We are making 90 pieces of Anniversary series rifles with less
pronounced engraving and in following calibers: 375 H&H (L 85action),
416 Rigby, 450 Rigby and 500 Jeffery (XL 85 action).
3 of these are made to be sold by auction during the worlds most important annual firearms
trade shows:The Shot Show in LasVegas,The SCI(Safari) Show in Reno, and IWA Show in
Nurnberg. 6 guns are sold exclusively by Beretta Galleries, (one gun each), and one will
remain in our manufacturer´s show room, in Riihimäki, Finland.

As an active hunter, I believe that hunting also plays an
important role in gamekeeping.We can use it to maintain
animal populations, thus ensuring that nature’s balance is
preserved. I participate in this task with the required dignity,
which is why I hunt all types of game, from fowl to bear, as
is necessary. For this, I need versatile, properly dimensioned
firearms, according to the given purpose. The rifle is not a

As a woman, I can appreciate hunting and shooting in a

Steady and sure
In my opinion, accuracy and a good hit are most important
features of the rifle.That’s why I also enjoy shooting at a range
– there’s also a very good reason for this. It’s the SakoVarmint,
which is my amazingly steady and sure companion on the hunt
for 10s.We do go out hunting, too, but when we are tracking
and waiting, this rifle is on the weighty side, with its heavy
barrel.These are precisely the characteristics that make it

This is a special small game rifle in 4 small rimfire calibers. Quad may be purchased
in any of these rimfire calibers: 22 LR , 22 WMR , .17 Mach 2 and 17 HMR.
Multiplicity
I have always been interested in technology and
different technical solutions. I’m also an avid shooter
and enjoy hunting small game. I also enjoy target
shooting, where I can hone my skills by shooting, for
example, cans. For this I need a small calibre rifle, but
out on a hunt I want something with a bit more punch.
Two different firearms sounds like a sensible solution,
but there’s something better out there.The Sako Quad
allows you to switch calibres, easily and quickly, even
while out in the bush in the middle of a hunt.This is the
perfect alternative for me.Technical, flexible, easy and
sensible. An excellent way to combine two of my passions.
However, Quad is a bolt action rimfire, with interchangeable barrels.The barrel
change only takes a few seconds.This is done by inserting a tool, turning it 3 full
circles , and tilting the barrel upwards and pulling it out of the action. Inserting
another barrel and thus changing to another caliber makes this rifle really versatile.
Accuracy is phenomenal. Barrels have individual serial numbers.
This rifle is not an ordinary rimfire, it is a small bore hunting and training
weapon system. Many variations are available.
