NEW Information & CHANGES for the 2016 Season
Information highlighted on this page is expanded on again later in this document. Each year many things stay
the same at the gym, but each year many things change and therefore we thought it important to highlight
some of these changes.
Invoicing/Payments
Invoices for each terms classes will be issued during the School Holiday's prior to that term commencing. They
will be sent out via email. Payment is due by the first Friday of each term. Families who chose to have their
credit card details on file will be receive a 2% discount for the ease and convenience of us being able to
process this payment for you.
Class fees will be different each term depending on how many sessions the team is training in the term. Term
dates and public holidays may affect the number of sessions for certain teams. Please see table in this info
pack for pricing.
EFT over the Counter Surcharges
Due to an unforeseen rise in banking charges from over the counter EFT use there is now a 1% surcharge
when you come into the office and use your card. Anyone who opts to keep their card on file for the year there,
is no surcharge when we take payments for you for fees each term.
Start of Season Family Meetings
This season instead of asking all families to attend, we are only asking new competition families for 2016 to
come along to a meeting in the first 2 weeks of term. If you are new to the competition program at Starlets this
year you will need to attend one of the compulsory family meetings listed in the information pack below.
Attendance Rewards & Training Rewards
At the end of each term we will make a record of all athletes who have had full attendance and send this out in
an email. All athletes will be entitled to received a gift from our new STARLETS REWARD BOX. There will be
a range of cool gifts and presents from stationary to make up. During training sessions coaches will allocate
raffle tickets to athletes for outstanding effort and achievements at every lesson, at the end of each term we
will draw winners from the raffle box and they will also be entitled to received a gift from our new STARLETS
REWARD BOX.
Themed weeks & Bring a friend weeks
To keep training sessions fun and exciting, we have set special themed weeks and bring a friend weeks.
These are a great opportunity to show your personality in your attire at training, and also to bring your friends
along and show them what cheerleading is all about.
Recreational Stunt/Cheer Classes
Due to expressions of interest, we have added a new recreation class to the timetable. This is for athletes who
want to participate in Cheerleading (stunting) but are not able to commit to being a competition athlete. This
will enable new athletes to participate in tumbling classes and stunting classes and get full exposure of what
being in a cheerleading team would be all about. Team App - Starlets Cheerleading App
Download our Team app from your APP STORE on your phone today. This is an easy place for us to keep all
the documentations, events & newsletters you need to know about.

Cancelling a Private Tumbling Classes
As of 2016, if a coach cancels a private the athlete will be refunded in full. However, if the athlete cancels the
private there will be no refund issued. Instead you are entitled to make up this private in 2 x regular tumbling
classes instead.
Dance Duo Classes
To ensure our athletes get the most out of their duo training sessions, we are running these as private classes
for 2016. Each duo will have a dedicated coach and a 30minute session for their routine per week.
Aussie Gold Competition - Gold Coast, QLD
This year we will be taking Open 6 Cheer & Open Pom Stealth to a 2nd interstate Competition. Dates for the
event are listed with the competitions later in this info pack. It is up to each athlete to arrange their own flights
and accommodation.
Pinnacle - Monday November 28th 2016
This event is the BEST of the BEST teams coming together the day after Nationals to compete for the final
titles of the year. Bids are only given out to Junior aged teams Level 1 and above in Cheer & and Junior aged
Dance teams, during the course of the year at all the competitions. Teams that earn bids this year will be
asked to stay for the Monday and compete at Pinnacle, so please keep this in mind when booking your
Nationals trip.
Different Comps for Different Teams
Last year we trialled sending different teams to different competitions, and it worked really well. This year we
are doing the same thing. Please pay close attention to the competition timetable as it is different for all
teams. Please also take note of the table outing your compulsory lessons for each of these competitions.
FREE Starlets training shirt
Everyone has been asking why we asked for your T-shirt size on your try out form. This is because we are
giving everyone a FREE 2016 training shirt, GET EXCITED they are amazing, and we have attached a photo
on the very last page of this info pack for you to see!

Team Selection Process
From the information supplied on athlete forms and attendance at tryout sessions for Cheer and Pom, athletes
are evaluated by coaching staff and placed in the most appropriate team as identified by the selection panel.
Cheer Teams 1. Any new athletes or current athlete seeking re-selection will be required to complete a tryout
information form and attend a tryout session.
2. Team selections are based on a number of factors - age, minimum & maximum positions available per
team, tumbling ability, experience, previous attendance/commitment, and positive attitudes.
3. Some athletes that may not have level appropriate tumbling skills will be placed in a higher level cheer
team where we need athletes to fill teams in regards to stunting roles. We are not in a position to bump
every athlete up a level that does not have the tumbling, therefore if you are bumped up you are one of
the chosen lucky few that fit a role we needed in that particular team.
4. Our current procedure is to place all athletes into a cheerleading team. Depending on numbers some
athletes over 19 years and under 5 years may not be offered a position.
5. All cheer athletes (excluding minis) who do not have the highest level of tumbling skills required for the
level team they are placed in will be required to attend a weekly tumbling session or private tumbling
session to be eligible to accept their position on the team.
6. Teams will be evaluated throughout Term 1 2016, to ensure athletes have been placed in the
appropriate level and meet the necessary team requirements and numbers. During this time
athletes may be asked to move teams where required.
Pom Teams
1. Any new athletes or current athlete seeking re selection will be required to complete a tryout
information form and attend a tryout session.
2. Team selections are based on a number of factors - age, minimum & maximum positions available per
team, experience, previous attendance/commitment, and positive attitudes.
3. Dance team numbers are limited, and therefore we are not always able to offer every athlete a position.
4. Based on technical ability and experience some teams may be classified as Novice division.
5. If some athletes do not accept their positions then team numbers may be affected, which could
result in particular teams being dissolved or adjusted.
7. Teams will be evaluated during Term 1 2016, to ensure athletes have been placed in the
appropriate team and meet the necessary team requirements and numbers. During this time
athletes may be asked to move teams where required.
Hip Hop Teams
Unfortunately due to low numbers we are not able to offer hip hop teams for 2016.
Group/Partner
1. Any new athletes or current athlete seeking re-selection will be required to complete a tryout
information form and attend a tryout session.
2. Athletes must be enrolled in a cheer team to eligible for a group and/or partner stunt placement
3. Team selections are based on a number of factors - age, minimum & maximum positions available per
team, experience, previous attendance/commitment, and positive attitudes.
6. If some athletes do not accept their positions then team numbers may be affected, which could
result in particular teams being dissolved or adjusted.
4. Teams will be evaluated throughout Term 1 2016, to ensure athletes have been placed in the
appropriate level and meet the necessary team requirements and numbers. During this time
athletes may be asked to move teams where required.
Dance Duo
1. Any new athletes or current athlete seeking re selection will be required to complete a tryout
information form and attend a tryout session.
2. Team selections are based on a number of factors - age, like ability and style with other duo participant,
previous experience, attendance/commitment, and positive attitudes.
3. Duo team numbers are limited, and therefore we are not always able to offer every athlete a position.
4. If some athletes do not accept their positions then team numbers may be affected, which could
result in particular teams being dissolved or adjusted.
Being a Starlet
The Commitment and Attendance Policy
At Starlets Cheerleading we have high professional standards and regulations, which are taken very seriously.
Athletes are expected to demonstrate this commitment by having a 100% attendance rate (within reason).
Under certain circumstances, permission may be granted for an athlete to miss a given lesson provided prior
approval is sought from Gym Owner Danielle Jimenez. If a lesson needs to be missed for a justified and approved reason (listed in “Policies & Expectations”) a
minimum of 2 weeks’ notice must be given in writing to [email protected] We have
a strict attendance policy and tardiness is not tolerated. We encourage athletes to participate in other sporting
activities outside of cheerleading; however, please know that we do not tolerate Starlets training being missed
due to other sporting commitments. Please choose your sports wisely so that everyone can be 100%
committed to all the sports they decide to take on.
If an athlete is ill or injured we ask that they still attend training so that they do not miss any changes to
routines unless the illness or injury is detrimental to their health or others. You must call the office on (02) 8854
0389, to notify us at least 2 hours prior to your training time so that the coaches can make changes prior to the
lesson commencing, and so we are aware that you are coming to class but are not able to participate that day.
Please do not email us on the day if you are sick or injured as there is no guarantee we will see this email
before classes commence.
A doctor’s certificate is required for any illness or injury that will prevent the athlete from participating at any
training session.
Accepting Your Position
To accept your position on a Starlets Cheerleading team please ensure that you fulfil all the necessary
requirements as listed below by close of business on Friday 29th of January 2016. If not received by this date

position at Starlets and will make that position available to another athlete.

2. Read the Policies and Expectations Commitment for 2016.
3. Complete and sign the Personal Information sheet, indicating that you have read and understood the

Unable to Accept Your Position
In the event that you are unable to accept your position on a team we ask that you email us as soon as
possible and no later than December 31st so that your position can be offered to another athlete. If the reason
that you are unable to accept your position is due to the commitment required, then we encourage you to take
a look at our recreational tumbling & Stunting program, which is listed on our timetable.
If you do not make contact with us or we do not receive your registration & payment by Friday 29th January
2016, we will have to assume that you are not accepting your position at Starlets and will make that position
available to other athletes.
Who to Contact
If you need to clarify any information, or have a general question please feel free to contact us by phone or
email. Our staff contact details are listed below and can also be found on our website. Please do not approach
the coaching staff during training time. There is always a staff member at reception who can assist with any
enquires or concerns. I too as club owner am always available to answer any questions. If I am coaching, a
message can be left with the reception staff and I will contact you as soon as possible.

Registration Costs 2016 - Once off Yearly Payment
Registration costs cover: annual insurance with JLT (through Gymnastics Australia) for all competitions and
training, annual club registration with Starlets Cheerleading, athlete entry to all 2016 competitions as well as
routine choreography and music creation.
Due to events growing across the country, event providers have seen an increase in venue hire the costs
associated with running an event. This increase does have to be passed onto the athletes attending and
therefore you will see an increase in registration cost.
For a full policy wording of the JLT policy, please see the link. http://www.jltsport.com.au/gymnastics/

Competitions and Compulsory Lessons
We will be attending different competitions, for different teams. Athletes & families will need to carefully check
what teams they are in and what competitions those teams are attending based on the table below. All
competitions are compulsory for athletes. Please see competition dates and venues below. All Cheer and
Dance teams have compulsory lessons leading up to competitions. For NSW Competitions it is 1 week prior
and for Nationals it is 2 weeks. This means that these lessons cannot be missed under any circumstances and
non-attendance at these training sessions will result in your withdrawal from the team and remainder of the
season. We do not set extra classes during the compulsory lesson weeks; it is just your regular competition
team classes that become compulsory during these dates.
** QLD Nationals Note: Athletes can not miss training to travel to the Gold Coast Nationals event
early. Travel and accommodation must be arranged for after your last compulsory lesson.

Compulsory Start of Season Family Meeting (For NEW Competition Families only)
It is compulsory that all athletes and at least one parent attend a club meeting at the commencement of the
season. These meetings go for approximately 15 - 30 minutes and are scheduled to be in the first and
second week of term. New Competition Athletes and their families need to attend one of the meeting times
below. (Repeat competition families do not need to attend). Athletes can also not miss training to be at a
meeting.
Due to the amount of athletes at the gym we need to ensure that all information received is understood to
avoid confusion and gossip later, and gives you an opportunity to meet the owner Danielle Jimenez. There will
be a rundown about the gym and year ahead, expectations and an opportunity to ask any questions. If you are
not available that week please email Dani to schedule a private meeting as we do keep a record of
attendance.
Please pick one of the times below.
Week 1 and 2 - Term 1: Monday 6pm or 7pm
Tuesday 4pm, 5pm or 6pm
Wednesday 4pm, 5pm or 6pm
Thursday 4pm, 5pm or 6pm
Friday 4pm or 5pm
Aussie Gold - Gold Coast QLD
Only Open 6 Cheer (Orion) and Open Pom Stealth will be attending the Aussie Gold event in QLD for 2016. As
the event is in the middle weekend of the July school holidays we will speak during training about whether
what date we need to be in QLD, and whether there will be training for these teams during first week of school
term, so please leave the first week of these holidays available for training/ travel to QLD.
Travel, accommodation costs and organisation are the responsibility of parents and athletes.
AASCF Nationals & Pinnacle- Gold Coast QLD
ALL ATHLETES & TEAMS are attending AASCF Nationals in Gold Coast QLD, at the Exhibition and
Convention Centre on Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November. It is compulsory for all athletes
to attend. Athletes will not be granted permission to miss any compulsory lessons prior to this event, however
athletes who wish to stay after the event are welcome to do so as Nationals signifies the end of our season.
Monday the 28th of November is the AASCF Pinnacle. This event is a bid only event, which means that during
the year teams are awarded bids at other competitions for a chance to compete against the best of the best
the day after Nationals. This is event is not for novice teams, or any teams in tiny, mini or youth. Any of our
teams that do receive a bid to pinnacle will be competing in 2016, so please keep this in mind when bookings
flights and accommodation. We encourage everyone to book early to avoid higher rates, or coming across
booked out accommodation venues.
Due to the growth of the event AASCF will NOT be releasing any information about what day or times age
groups or divisions will approximately be competing until 3 weeks prior to the event. Travel, accommodation costs and organisation are the responsibility of parents and athletes.
Please ensure your bookings are made for arriving in Gold Coast on Thursday the 24th of November and
returning on or after Tuesday the 29th of November. The event has been known to run from 7am - 11pm, so it
is important you do not book early or late flights on the Friday or Sunday as this could impact on athletes being
able to compete. If you are looking for assistance with booking we recommend you speak to Melissah Missio at Hello World,
Winston Hills. Melissah is a parent at the club and can help with your specific needs.
Email: [email protected]
All flight and accommodation bookings must be made by September 23rd 2016 (end of Term 3). Athletes will
be required to provide contact details to Starlets in case there is a need to make contact throughout the
weekend.
Member Protection Officers - MPIO
We are a large gym and have two Member Protection Information Officers (MPIO) who are accredited through
the Australian Sports Commission. An MPIO is the first point of call in a club or sporting organisation for any
enquiries, concerns or complaints around harassment and abuse. The MPIO provides confidential information
and moral support to the person with the concern or who is alleging harassment. Our MPIOs can handle any
complaints, concerns or issues that any coach, parent or athlete may have. These matters are kept strictly
confidential and are dealt with immediately. Our member protection officers are:
Dianna Denyer – 0414 839 363 and Gabrielle O’Grady – 0404 492064
Kiss and Drop Zone / Parking at the Facility
The facility has a pedestrian crossing and a kiss and drop zone located adjacent to the NEW Cheer room
entrance. Kiss and drop is designed for you to drive into the designated zone, let your child out of the vehicle,
and then they can cross safely at the pedestrian crossing. It can also be used for pick up of your child provided
that they are ready to leave. Under NO circumstances are vehicles to park and wait in this drop off and pick up
zone. There are limited Starlets parking spaces in front of our building but there is plenty of parking on the
street in front of the Hills Action Centre. Please do not park in spots that are clearly marked and designated to
other businesses in the centre. Your understanding with this matter is greatly appreciated.
Additional Classes
Group Tumbling Classes
Tumbling classes are run throughout the week at various times. These classes are ability based, NOT related
to your cheer level. Classes are one hour and there is a maximum of 18 athletes per class, based on coach
availability. Athletes must be able to perform all skills in a particular level before they are able to progress to
the next level. Your coach will notify Danielle at the end of each term of any athletes ready to progress, and
an alternate class will be suggested for the next term. Work hard, and aim to move up!
Stunt/Cheerleading Classes
We are now offering classes where athletes can come and work just on their stunting and cheerleading skills
that are non tumbling related. This is aimed at athletes who are not part of the competition program, however,
if you are a competition athlete and would also like to attend these classes as additional stunt practise you are
more than welcome to do so. These classes are based on age, go for one hour, and cater for all abilities. Age
Groups are 8 years and under, 9-14 years, and 15 years and over.
Compulsory Tumbling Classes
We expect all athletes that do not have the highest level of tumbling skills required for the cheer level
they have made to attend a tumbling class. Athletes that do not enrol in tumbling that are required to
do so will no longer be eligible for a place on that level team, if we have a place in an alternate team we
will try to work around this for you. We have noted in the team placement which athletes are required
to attend tumbling for the 2016 season. If you would like to book a place please email
[email protected] to secure your position. This position will be yours for the season unless
otherwise advised. Positions are given on a first come first served basis and a confirmation email will be
returned to acknowledge position.
Private Classes
These are available based on coach availability, which is listed on the timetable. Private lessons are offered to
individuals, or groups of 2 (where both athletes are learning the same skills) with 1 dedicated coach. Sessions
enable the athlete to work on one or more of the following: tumbling, flexibility/strength and dance. Due to
timetabling, private lessons will be in a room while other group tumbling is in session, however your coach is
dedicated to you and you will have full use of all the facility and equipment.
Private tumbling availability is located within the same document as the team placements and timetable.
Please book via email [email protected] . It is first come first served and bookings can be made
as weekly bookings or fortnightly bookings and will continue each term unless you inform us otherwise.
As of 2016, if a coach cancels a private the athlete will be refunded in full. However, if the athlete cancels the
private there will be no refund issued. Instead you are entitled to make up this private in 2 x regular tumbling
classes instead.
Tumbling Levels
Beginner Level (3-6 years & 7+ years)
Skills: basic shapes, forward rolls, handstands and cartwheels.
All athletes who are new to tumbling are required to start in this class. At your first lesson the coach will assess
your ability and where necessary will ask you to move to a level 1 class, or remain in the pre levels class.
Level 1 (6+ years)
Skills: round offs, back and front walkovers and specialty passes connecting Level 1 skills.
Level 2 (All ages)
Skills: back handsprings, round off multiple back handsprings, front handsprings and specialty passes
connecting level 2 skills.
Level 3 (All ages)
Skills: standing and running tumbling that consists of jumps to back handspring, round off handspring tucks,
punch fronts and specialty passes connecting level 3 skills.
Level 4 (All ages)
Skills: standing and running tumbling that consists of tucks, layouts, and specialty passes connecting level 4
skills.
Level 5 (All ages)
Skills: standing and running tumbling that consists of jumps to tuck, twisting skills and specialty passes
connecting level 5 skills.
Team List/ Timetable – see attached separate document
We have attached a separate document to outline team placement & this years timetable, and private tumbling
availability.
• Cheer & Pom teams will be evaluated in Term 1 next year, to ensure athletes have been placed
in the appropriate level and meet the necessary team numbers.
• If some athletes do not accept their positions then team numbers may be affected, which could
result in particular teams being dissolved or adjusted. The team placement document will also be available as a link on our website www.starletscheerleading.com.
If you have a friend that has tried out for a team and they did not receive the team placement email please let
me know so I can double check the email we have for them and fix this for future correspondence.
You will notice on our timetable that the dance area is also being utilised by Constant Groove Dance Studio.
Michelle is a good friend of Dani’s and we welcome her and her students to our facility for another year of
dancing.
Starlets Cheerleading
Policies and Expectations Commitment 2016
Please take the time to read and understand all of the material enclosed. By accepting a position on a
Starlets Cheerleading team, you and your parents agree and adhere to all the rules and regulations
and consent to the terms outlined. You further understand that any violation of these rules may result
in your dismissal from Starlets.
Cheerleading is a TEAM sport, therefore in fairness to the rest of the team, club and coaches please do
not accept a position as a Starlet unless you are 100% committed to the below regulations.
Our mission at Starlets Cheerleading is to enrich the lives of children and their families through the sport of
competitive cheerleading. Our goal each day is to teach our athletes the value of commitment, hard work,
integrity, leadership, self-confidence, positive attitudes and a love for the sport. It is our goal to be the very best
cheerleading program in the country. Each and every family is important to our program.

6. It is the coaches responsibility to assign your child’s position in the team (e.g. base, back spot, flyer)
7. No profanity or abusive language.
8. Please keep in mind the gym is not a babysitting service. We want our athletes to use the gym as often
as possible but children need to be supervised prior to training and must be collected promptly after

MUST.

member is solely the club owner’s decision.
13. Only cheerleaders and coaches are allowed in the gym & dance areas. Family and friends may not
view classes unless asked to enter by the coach.
14. It is the parents’ responsibility to know what is going on with your child’s teams. Please check your

18. It is not the responsibility of the coaches to get athletes to or from training and competitions. Athlete
car-pooling is recommended.
19. Athletes cannot be associated with any other All Star cheerleading program. That includes coaching
and/or competing.
20. Coaches and athletes may be involved in scholastic/university cheerleading programs where they do
not conflict with our program.
21. Starlets are insured with Gymnastics Australia (JLT). Cover is for all members during training and
competition; however we take no responsibility for any injuries/accidents that may occur whilst you are
on your way to training/performances or competitions.
22. Athletes and parents must not attempt to poach athletes from other clubs or from Starlets for other
clubs.
23. The owner, Danielle Jimenez, may change, add or subtract any rule at any time.
