Fire Departments in early America were founded
by insurance companies by Benjamin Franklin,
who also was the founder of the Mutual Insurance Industry. The Departments participate in
regular training to help bring their firefighters
up to speed with the most current knowledge
available. This session will bring us through the
process of a fire from the Fire Departments eyes
and help remind us that we need to renew and
maintain a healthy relationship to the benefit of
both organizations and the citizens we serve.

Bryan is in his 5th year as the host of the “Build

Join us Monday, August 18, for a relaxing trip down the Illinois
River as we board the Spirit of Peoria where you will be fascinated
by the boat’s tall fluted stacks and gigantic candy-apple red
paddlewheel churning through the water. We can relax and enjoy
the beautiful views on this sightseeing cruise. A hot lunch buffet
will be served—hope you can join us!
ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
This year we are combining the Industry Lunch with the Annual
Business Meeting. In addition to board nominations, by-laws
considerations if any, financial reports and committee and
Chairman-Elect reports, this year’s Annual Business Meeting,
scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2014 at 12 Noon will also
include the Award ceremony for Company Achievement, Volunteer
of the Year and Fire Dept of the Year Awards.

Companies that can assist in defraying some of the costs of the
convention are currently being sought. A sponsorship brochure
was mailed to each company. Any company or individual able
to donate to help in sponsoring the programs would be greatly
appreciated. If you or your companies are interested in donating,
please contact the IAMIC office at 217-563-8300. Sponsorships
must be made by JULY 31 to be recognized in the program booklet
which is given to all attendees.

The Trade Show will be open Monday, August 18, as we return
to our regular format. We will serve complimentary refreshments
and will have a sitting area available for you to visit with friends
and colleagues. Our vendors offer many services that can help you
solve problems that your Mutual may be facing. Take advantage of
this opportunity to learn more about their products and services.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Important Information: When we contract with a hotel for a
conference, the hotel relies upon the revenue that is generated
by food and beverage, meeting room and guest room sales.
When our group sales fall below the contract obligations, we are
penalized. This penalty, which can be quite substantial, can be
avoided. By booking your guestroom at the host hotel, you will
receive a beautiful, specially priced guest room AND you will
help us to live up to our contractual commitment and keep future
program fees in line.

Join us for a relaxing day at the beautiful Coyote Creek Golf Club.
Come spend the day on a top-notch golf course to help raise
money for a worthwhile claims scholarship. We will be playing a
4-person scramble. The score or ability to play golf is not necessary
for the IAMIC Golf Outing—it’s all about networking and relaxing
with friends.
Coyote Creek Golf Club is a stunning 18-hole par 72 championship golf course designed by the late Bruce Borland, senior designer for Jack Nicklaus. This is one of the best courses in all of Central
Illinois. Visitors love our club for a wide range of reasons, from the
amenities found at our clubhouse to the beauty on our grounds.
There is a lot to like at Coyote Creek Golf Club. Our course is challenging, but never so much that it becomes frustrating. This is a
great golf facility for rookies and champions alike. Play at Coyote
Creek spans 6,700 yards of picturesque nature with 10 acres of
lakes, bent grass fairways and dramatic elevation changes, and
breathtaking scenery.
The games and registration will begin on Sunday, August 17, 2014
at 9:00 a.m. The fee for the “Golf Fun Day” is $70 per golfer,

Trap Shoot
Join in the fun on Sunday, August 17, at the annual IAMIC Trap Shoot at Darnall’s Gun Works
and Ranges in Bloomington. We will hold a 50-bird derby for this event, which will being at
9:00 a.m. with practice rounds and registration. (Be sure to bring your lawn chairs!) Shoot will
begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp.
All skill levels are welcome to shoot and ammunition and guns will be available at nominal
charge (please indicate below if you will need either ammunition and/or a gun). All shooters
will compete on an individual basis for prizes and awards.
Entry fees for this event are $35 per person, which includes two rounds of 25 birds, lunch,
and prizes.
Lingo: 50-Bird Derby: This style of Trap Shoot has groups of five shooters shooting at 25 birds from
the sixteen-yard line. For the second round, shooters will be competing from various distances, which
will be determined by the number of targets hit on the first round (Example: If a shooter hits 24 of
25 birds on first round, they will compete from the 24 yard line during the second round.)
Directions to Darnall’s: From the west edge of Bloomington, IL at Interstate 55 exit #160B, take Illinois Route 9 west 5 miles to
county road 750E. Turn left, and go south 2.3 miles to county road 1175N. Turn right and go west 1.3 miles. Darnall’s Gun Works and
