WELCOME TO GARDANNE
Gardanne is a town located in the Department of Bouches du
Rhône, in the South of France.
It is a city with history.
Formerly, Gardanne men worked at the mine of
Gardanne. It no longer exists.
In Gardanne, many activities and excursions are possible:
Hiking, guided tours, fishing.
You can also discover our festive events:
The Christmas market, the week of the Provence,
Saint-John’s eve and European Heritage Days.

GARDANNE HERITAGE
-The old village
Formerly Gardanne was called Gardana. Gardanne was built in the
11th century, and it was only a village surrounded by a
fortress. Still remains vestiges you can
discover during your walk through the old streets.
You can see:

Several gates as Bel Air, the gate of Trets and passage
Barra.


The chapel of the Penitents. It is also called the
Chapel of Saint Valentin.
Don't forget to go for a ride on the Colline du Cativel.
It is the oldest neighborhood of Gardanne, where you can find the
mill.
-The museum Gardanne Autrefois
You will find in this museum items of everyday life 100 years ago. In
Gardanne.
For example: Old tools, old objects, or a school room.

ART IN GARDANNE
- Paul Cézanne
Paul Cezanne was a famous painter.
He lived in Gardanne during 1 year at this address: 17 Cours Forbin.
He loved painting on the Colline des Frères where you have a good
sight of Gardanne.
He painted 10 paintings during his year in Gardanne.
A Cézanne excursion had been created in the town to discover
Gardanne and the history of Paul Cezanne.
You will find on the Colline des Frères an open-air museum on the
paintings of Paul Cezanne.

Throughout the year, the Wednesday, Friday and Sunday morning,
at the city centre of Gardanne.

THE CRAFTSMEN
-The Tilery Bossy
At the Tilery Bossy, 12 craftsmen will make you discover their
creations. They also explained how they work.

This is a pottery workshop and a boutique open to the public.

THE NATURE
-The Ecomuseum of the forest
The Ecomuseum of the forest is a space to discover the resources of
the forest. You will be able to know the mysteries of the Earth, animals,
plants and trees. Outside, guests can take a walk on a footpath laid
out.

-Hiking
There are several hiking trails in Gardanne.
The Tourist Office sells a booklet of presentation of these
hiking trails.
You can walk and discover beautiful landscapes.

-Cinema
Gardanne cinema offers year-round films of cinema around the
world.

The media library is a library for children
and for adults, but also a music library, and a large space for
multimedia.
