At Lubetech we strive to make a difference.
Over the past decade we have specialised in
the development and distribution of a variety of
absorbents and spill control products designed
to help industry protect the environment from
contamination caused by fluid spills.
Today right across the world environmental
awareness has become mainstream. For many

service is now affected by the green credentials
of the supplier.
Lubetech is part of this change and although we
are a business which aims to be profitable we
are proud to be part of the growing network of
companies who are making a real contribution to

Our products are simple to use but where a
little more know how is required for ISO 14001
accreditation or where companies are planning
to implement an Environmental Management

three levels of spill response training courses
beneficial. Each course is site specific with a
clear message designed to help individual
clients reduce the risk of adversely causing

Lubetech Absorbents were created to help
industry clear up fluid spills of all kinds and
sizes preventing potentially harmful fluids from
damaging the environment.
Choose Superior for its absorption speed, Tough
n’ Soft for more technical wiping applications,
Black & White for endurance and Classic for plain,
simple performance.
We have six distinct absorbent ranges to choose
from, Gold, Natural, Superior, Tough n Soft, Black
& White and Classic. Each of these ranges has
unique performance characteristics to suit your
individual requirements.
Each of the above product ranges come in a variety
of formats including pads, rolls and socks. Use Pads
to absorb small spills and to wipe down surfaces.
Rolls enable you to tear off the exact amount
of absorbent that you require thereby reducing
wastage. Socks can either be used to encircle spills
or can be placed next to leaking machinery.
Select Gold for the highest absorption rates. For
maximum benefit to the environment, use our
Natural range as they are the first genuine high
performance absorbents made from naturally
occurring cellulose and cotton.

CHEMICAL
Maintenance products are black in
colour and will absorb all kinds of
industrial liquids including oil based
and water based spills. Ideal for use
in industrial situations where many
different kinds of liquids are present
at the same time.
Oil-Only products are always white
in colour and should only be used in
the event of oil based spills such as
lubricants, fuels and even vegetable
oils. Using Hydrophobic technology,
they only absorb oil and not water
and will remain buoyant even when
saturated with oil.
Our Chemical products are yellow in
colour for easy recognition and are
designed to absorb more aggressive
fluids such as acids, kerosene and
detergents. They are ideal for use in
situations such as laboratories and
Chemical plants.

Coral reefs attract an array of marine life and provide enclosed spaces for sea creatures to breed or take refuge. However, only about 15% of the
sea bed has a solid enough substratum to allow reefs to form naturally. In order to increase the number of reefs in these areas artificial reefs have
recently been created by the artist, Jason De Caires Taylor.

Made from materials that are environmentally sensitive, Jason’s underwater sculptures create a unique visual seascape while providing the perfect
solution to reef degradation. These reefs have been successful in lifting the pressure off natural reefs which, over the past few decades, have been
over-fished and over-visited. By diverting attention to artificial reefs, natural reefs have now been given a greater chance to repair and to regenerate.

team’s simulation shows possibility for achieving overland flight by dramatically lowering the level of sonic booms through the use of an

SkyLifter is developing a piloted airship that could deliver new capabilities for cargo transportation. These massive balloons will be able to
carry up to 150 tonnes for more than 1,200 miles. Unlike a conventional cigar-shaped airship, the SkyLifter is designed like a disc to make
steering easier when carrying heavy loads under different wind conditions. Measuring some 500ft, nearly the size of a football stadium, the
SkyLifter airship could even carry entire buildings - although these would need to be designed to be transportable. Fixed and rotary winged
aircraft like jets and helicopters use a large amount of energy just keeping in the air, whereas the SkyLifter is a buoyant aircraft that floats, so it
only consumes energy to move it over the land. Together with the solar collectors on the top, the environmental benefits of SkyLifter are obvious.

When building the new A75 autoroute across France, planners accepted plans for a suspended bridge because the
alternative route would have intersected the water table and would have had a negative environmental impact on the
local town, cost more and lengthened the driving distance.
Designed by Michel Virlogeux and Norman Foster, the resulting Millau Viaduct consists of an eight-span steel roadway
and is the tallest bridge in the world. At a total of 2,500m (8,200 ft) long it is also the world’s longest cable-stayed deck.

Portable, moveable and highly visible, each kit

British company Wind Power Limited has unveiled the new Aerogenerator project visualised by leading international architects Grimshaw.
The Aerogenerator X is considered one of the only real alternative solutions available to help deliver the UK’s offshore wind strategy in a reliable and
cost effective manner. It does not have the same weight constraints as a normal wind turbine and the blades do not suffer weight-induced fatigue.
This new design is half the height of an equivalent horizontal-axis turbine and its weight is concentrated at the base of the structure.

WHO NEEDS TO COMPLY?
WHATS REQUIRED?
To protect the environment, businesses across the
UK are now obliged to conform to a series of laws
that relate to the safe storage of fluids. Lubetech Spill
containment products have been designed to help
companies meet with these requirements.
All containers storing oil or fuel, whether a drum,
an IBC or a tank, must be sufficiently bunded within
themselves or stood on a spill pallet or drip tray that
provides sufficient secondary containment.
This applies to any industrial, commercial or
institutional site storing 200 litres or more of oil or fuel
above ground in one or more containers.
•Contain 110% of the contents of the largest container; or
In England & Wales the regulations only apply to
outdoor storage, although the recommended
‘Prevention Pollution Guidelines’ from the Environment
Agency would apply to indoor storage. In Scotland the
regulations apply to both outdoor and indoor storage.
The bund must have sufficient capacity to:
•25% of the total capacity stored, whichever is
the greater.
In the case of single drums, a drip tray with a
capacity of 25% of the contents is normally acceptable,
apart from drums sited in high-risk areas.
The UK government’s plan to generate at least 20 percent of all its power from wind turbines has seen the development
of the world’s largest offshore wind farm. The farm is equipped with over 100 giant wind turbines that are installed off
Thanet in Kent. The plant will power about 240,000 urban homes, which is equivalent of half the county of Kent.

Lubetech Steel Storage Units provide strong secure
storage for a wide variety of products. Available in a
variety of sizes from the larger IBC and drum stores
to the smaller cabinets which are perfect for indoor
storage of smaller containers such as solvents,
paints and thinners etc.
The larger drum and IBC stores can be used for
secure outdoor storage. They come with easy to
use sliding doors, integral liquid tight sumps to
ensure safe containment of any leaks and drips,

vented side panels to reduce condensation and a
special roof construction to act as explosion relief
in compliancy with HSG51 regulations. Treated
with plastic coated exterior cladding for excellent
corrosion resistance, these cabinets are built to last.
The indoor storage cabinets have been designed
to store Hazardous substances in accordance with
CoSHH regulations. They include fully adjustable
galvanised shelves, engineered ‘snag free’ handles
and ‘2-point’ locking systems for premium security.

First consideration in an outdoor spill situation
is to protect fluids from entering into the drain
system as eventually, what goes into the drain
ends up in our river systems potentially causing
serious degradation to fauna and flora.
As a first line of defence we have a range of
polyurethane drain covers which can be placed
over the drain to stop fluids entering the network
while the bulk of the spill is cleared using
absorbent materials such as pads, socks and
booms. Polyurethane drain covers are available
in three different sizes with the option of wall
mountable, high visibility vinyl holdall bags for
convenient and accessible storage.

Performing a similar function to the polyurethane
drain covers, but designed for one off use only,
we have the Bentonite clay drain mats which are
available in two sizes.
Finally, there are the mechanical drain covers
which form a more permanent barrier for
optimum peace of mind where the event of drain
contamination could result in an environmental
crisis. These drain covers use a bespoke locking
device coupled with a special neoprene seal which
forms an effective chemical resistant barrier in
demanding conditions.

Lubetech Absorbent Granules provide effective

Especially suited for indoor use, XR70 industrial
cellulose granules are light weight for easy
handling and will absorb a wide variety of liquids.
The XR99 is a premium grade highway micro
granule. It is a calcinated Danish Molar clay which
offers maximum anti skid protection, (compliant
with AFNOR NF P 90-198, European Road Safety
Regulations), superior absorbency rates and
following the clean-up operation, leaves the
surface dust and stain free.
The Lubetech XR60 Industrial general purpose
granules are a naturally occurring mineral called
Attapulgite which can be used for absorbing most
fluids including water, oil and fuels. The XR85 is
a 1st grade Sepiolite construction granule used
for absorbing oils, grease and water. Regular
applications include construction sites, business
park roadways and communal areas. The irregular
granulation improves skid resistance, supports
