Adult incontinence presents challenges to residents and caregivers across the world. Healthcare

In 2015, HARTMANN introduced a new family of skin-friendly adult incontinence products
designed to counter the corrosive properties of voids. Dignity® Briefs with Curly Fiber, MoliCare®
Premium Briefs, MoliCare Mobile® Disposable Protective Underwear (DPU) and MoliMed® pads
have Curly Fiber to help protect the skin by instantly reducing the high alkalinity of voids (up to
pH 8.0) to the skin-friendly range of pH 4.5 to 5.5.
These remarkable pH-buffering properties are made possible by Curly Fiber, a propriety component in
the surface layer of many of our products. HARTMANN USA is the only domestic manufacturer of adult
briefs with Curly Fiber.

The situation:
Standard briefs do not buffer the
high pH of voids to a skin-friendly
pH 5.5 and this creates unhealthy

Background information on pH value
The pH value is the measure of whether a liquid is acidic (left), neutral (7.0) or alkaline (right).

Measure to determine brief size.
FOLD

HOLD!
To help prevent leakage and ensure resident comfort, make sure the brief is the right size for the resident.
Use the sizing charts next to the products on pages 05-08 or on the side panel of each bag. There are two
measuring methods: 1) Measure hips or waist (whichever is larger) or 2) Measure hip to hip, double the
number and add two inches to determine the appropriate size.
ACTIVATE
LEG CUFFS!
To help prevent leakage, open the brief
and fold it in half lengthwise to activate
the inner cuff system. The cuff system
will stand upright when activated. As we
say, “You must fold to hold.”
Activating the leg cuff is an IMPORTANT
step as not doing may result in leakage.
So, Fold to Hold!

Pull the brief up snuggly.

product is centered in
the perineal area and
align the wetness
indicator with the
spine.

Position the brief properly.
Connect hook-and-loop tabs.
To help prevent leakage and ensure resident comfort, make sure
the tabs are applied at an upward/downward angle and pulled
slightly backwards so that the hook-and-loop tab grips the fabric
securely.
Evaluate changing intervals, especially for heavy wetters.
Avoid pulling/tugging on the brief to reposition the resident as this can cause
the product to tear and create skin issues from friction.
Consider using an underpad for bedridden heavy wetters.
