Clumsy Smurf is not in bed. ‘What’s Papa
Smurf doing?’ he thinks.
I'm making
magic!
Papa Smurf’s book of magic
It is night in Smurf Village, but Papa Smurf is
not sleeping. He is making a magic spell.
‘First put this in the pot … and now some
water,’ he says.
‘Wow!’ thinks Clumsy. ‘Look at Papa Smurf. I
want to make magic too!’

In the morning, Clumsy sees Papa.
‘Can I make a magic spell with you?’ asks
Clumsy.
‘Not now, Clumsy!’ says Papa. ‘Go and play
with the Smurfs!’
But Clumsy does not listen. ‘Papa has a
book of magic!’ he says. ‘There are a lot of
spells in that.’
But the book of magic is in Papa Smurf’s
house …

‘How can I make magic?’ thinks Clumsy.
But then Clumsy sees Gargamel.
‘Gargamel has a book of magic too!’ he
says.
Yuck! It’s a
horrible sunny
day!
Papa Smurf comes home.
‘What are you doing, Clumsy Smurf?’ he says.
‘Uhhh … I want to help you!’ answers Clumsy.
‘Thank you!’ says Papa.
