Save 5¢ a Gallon (Gas… Not Coffee) at Buc
August 2014 A Monthly Newsletter From Your Credit Union 800.839.1154 • TDECU.org Talking What you need to know about your finances, your financial future and managing your money. Proud to be the HOME TEAM We have been excited to share with our members TDECU’s partnership with the University of Houston. Our partnership starts with naming the new football stadium at the University of Houston “TDECU Stadium” - but it doesn’t end there. Creating Value through Growth Growth is important to us at TDECU. Why? Credit unions and banks are disappearing at a rate of more than one per day due to competition and the challenges we face in today’s marketplace. TDECU has served generations of members and we want that tradition to continue well into the future. (continued on pg 2) Save 5¢ a Gallon (Gas… Not Coffee) at Buc-ee’s WHEN YOU PAY USING YOUR TDECU CREDIT CARD! Nothing pleases us more than saving our members money. Proud to be the HOME TEAM (continued from pg 1) Our growth provides the resources for TDECU to expand our products and services in the fast evolving financial services market. In recent years, we’ve added insurance, wealth advisors, real estate and title services. Moving forward, additional services are planned such as a new and improved online and mobile banking as well as electronic check deposits using your smartphone. These services will be coming to members very soon; and can only be offered as a result of the growth and stability of TDECU. By partnering with the University of Houston, we will grow our membership with the students, faculty and staff, and alumni. With that growth, we will be able to keep your fees low − and free in many cases, your services robust, and our rates competitive. We are committed to delivering the great value you have come to expect from us. Continued growth is the key. As expected, the announcement received a lot of press coverage and much attention in Houston and Brazoria County. We were thrilled. The elevation of the TDECU name through this announcement generated comments such as “I had never heard of TDECU before and now I see your branches all over Houston.” That is music to our ears. You see, we have 19 branches in the Houston area, and we are launching our media campaign this year to introduce TDECU to the city. The TDECU naming rights announcement was a great start to this effort. The decision to pay for the sponsorship through marketing dollars set aside for Houston has paid off already. UH mascot, Shasta, recently stopped by our Missouri City Branch to open a new member account. While there, he got the Missouri City Branch team to show their UH spirit. Living Out our Mission TDECU’s mission is simple – improve the lives of our members, our employees and the communities we serve. The UH partnership allows TDECU to show our commitment to community in a high profile way, and our partnership with this highly regarded institution of higher learning certainly aligns with our community values. We are partnering with the school to enhance the financial knowledge of UH students, faculty and staff through financial education we will deliver at all UH campuses. Additionally, we will be opening a new TDECU branch on the UH campus this fall to give these audiences convenient access to our products and services, enabling them to enjoy the benefits of being a credit union member. An added plus is that we will be employing UH students at the new branch. We are looking forward to serving the UH community in many ways, with the intent of creating a stronger financial foundation for future generations. We are committed to delivering financial education in all the markets TDECU serves and are excited to continue living out this mission with our new partners at the University of Houston. Making you Proud In the buzz generated by the announcement of our partnership with the University of Houston, one theme was common among our members: “We are so proud to be a member of TDECU!” We are committed to changing the face of banking through legendary service and our passion for what we do. Go Coogs! Shasta helps out Spirit of Houston cheerleader, Traci Adams, who has been a proud TDECU member since 2011. Correction: In the July newsletter, we stated that four TDECU volunteer Board of Director terms were expiring. The correct number is three. We apologize for the error. Federally insured by NCUA. LIFETIME MEMORIES in the Making You only buy your first home once. We are proud to be a partner with our members as they put down roots and create a financial foundation for the future. TDECU Real Estate Agents, Tammie Bell and Kara Weathers recently had the privilege of helping two families – Clinton and Cynthia Sanford and Angela Padilla and Christophe Laroche – buy their first homes. Congratulations! Members/Buyers Angela Padilla and Christophe Laroche, who used all of TDECU services through our Real Estate Rewards Program (TDECU Mortgage, TDECU Real Estate, TDECU Insurance and Century Oaks Title) had this to say about their experience: “We enjoyed working with TDECU! We found the home of our dreams and cannot wait to move into it!” To learn more about our Real Estate Rewards Program, visit TDECU.org today.
