Let’s take a walk on the WILD SIDE! We will investigate and explore a wide variety of wild animals like the white
rhino, jaguars, leopards, tigers, kangaroos, and much more. After learning about some of these amazing wild
animals, our summer journey will conclude with a field trip to the Wildlife World Zoo®.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Beats Camp . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 4-6 / Materials Fee $15
Beats camp is for students who want to learn to play an instrument and for those who already play. There are two
levels offered: Beginners (0 years playing experience): Learn to play a wind instrument such as flute, clarinet,
trumpet, trombone or a percussion instrument such as bells. You will learn how to read music and count basic
rhythms. Intermediate (1-2 years playing experience): This program takes you beyond the basics into in-depth
study of instrumental technique and level-appropriate literature. This group will have an expanded choice
of instruments, but not all instruments will be available. Students in this group will participate in a concert
performance at the end of the camp. Instruments are available at school to use for the summer program.
Comic-Con® . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 1-3 & 4-6 / Materials Fee $20
Have you ever wanted to learn about superheroes and perhaps create your own? In this class you will have
fun learning about Superman®, Batman®, Spiderman®, Wonder Woman® and many more. Students will create
their own super hero from a special power and costume, comic strip, and even a movie. So get your BAM, POW
and ZAP ready to go!!
Crack the Code . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 2-3 & 4-6 / Materials Fee $15
Do you ever wonder how all of your computer games and apps work? In this class you will learn the basics of
coding to solve puzzles and make your own creations. We will use Code.org, Khan Academy® and Scratch® in
this introductory course on computer coding. Please bring headphones or ear buds.
Creative Animation . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 1-3 & 4-6 / Materials Fee $20
In this class we will take a look back at the history of Walt Disney and all the amazing stories and characters he
brought to life. We will compare different types of animation and discover the process that brings a character
from a simple thought to a presence on the big screen. At the end, we will create our own mini-animation movie
that would make Walt Disney proud!
Duct Tape Art . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 2-4 / Materials Fee $20
Duct tape as an art material? Absolutely! This is your chance to explore the many uses for duct tape and how
you can use it to create your very own artwork. Students will use duct tape to create items like bags and wallets,
as well as other 3-D sculptures and 2-D collages.
Fairies and Glitter Oh MY!. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 1-4 / Materials Fee $20
Explore the magical world of fairies through literature, art, and creation of fairy costumes. Learn about fairies
around the world, listen to stories with fairies flitting about the countryside, and experience the magic of
fairies. Create your very own fairy costume with wings, tiara, and a wand. Make a fairy door and fairy bells to
entice fairies to your backyard.
Future Chemists . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 4-6 / Materials Fee $15
Do you like explosions? Is your idea of a fun time getting your hands all gooey and sticky? In this class students
will take an in-depth look at the elements that make up our world and the amazing reactions that occur when
they are combined and mixed together. This hands-on class will explore kitchen chemistry, mystery powders,
concoctions, mixtures, emulsions and, of course, slime!
Girl Party. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 1-3 & 4-6 / Materials Fee $20
Calling all girls who just want to have fun! This is a hands-on class where students will take their creations
home. We will have fun learning how to make our own fashion accessories, like t-shirts, hair clips, tutus and
scarves. Our focus will be on all things “girl”, like dancing, tea parties, and our own daytime slumber party! You
don’t want to miss the fun and excitement!

Have fun playing all kinds of hilarious and silly games from a shoe relay to elbow tag! This class will keep you
active and healthy while you participate in wacky sports and games that will keep you laughing the entire time!

Plants, veggies, flowers, dirt, compost, fertilizer…. let’s get dirty! This is a class where you will learn all about
plants, seeds and gardening. You’ll make a mini green house, experiment with lighting and water, and learn
about and make a biosphere. Let’s see who has a green thumb.

We’re getting ready for kindergarten using well-loved children’s stories, hands-on activities, and special projects.

Join Karate Bill on your exciting journey to become a black belt leader. Fun exciting drills and games in this safe

Welcome to Master Builder’s Academy where you combine your love of Lego® blocks with an on-line building
program using Chromebooks®. In “Build it With Chrome®,” you will design, create, and build an on-line
masterpiece, and then duplicate with actual Lego® blocks. Get ready to build!

A pastry chef is in charge of the best part of the meal… DESSERT! We will test our baking, design, and decorating

astonished with what you can create with just a little time and effort.

Watch as we transform our classroom into a Pinterest®-inspired work space. Students will be encouraged to tap
into their inner-artist as we explore cool, crafty DIY ideas from Pinterest® and other social media sites. Students
will enjoy an exciting field trip to the Pinspiration® studio in City North® during the last week of summer school.

Join us in a reading class that will be fun, while improving your reading skills at the same time. Parents please
note that the “Read Naturally®” program will guide this class. This program combines three powerful strategies
to create individualized instruction while improving reading proficiency. Students will improve their fluency,
vocabulary, and comprehension.

Travel to the tropics as we transform our classroom into a tropical rainforest, complete with some of the most
amazing plants and animals found on earth! Discover the beauty of the macaw and have a chance to learn,
not only about the diet of these incredible birds, but also prepare and sample “Macaw Mix.” Students will also
make a mini terrarium so they can take the rainforest home! Grab your rain boots and an umbrella and join us
on this fascinating adventure!

Wanted: your wildest ideas and unusual materials …if you can think it, we can make it! In Repurpose University,
geniuses think-up, plan and make old things new again using needles, thread, ropes, rubber bands, an iron,
hot glue, scissors, duct tape, nails, screws and any reasonable tools, as needed.
Smash into Science . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grades 1-3 / Materials Fee $20
Safety goggles are required this summer as we smash into science! This summer we will delve into all sorts of
matter from sticky and slimy to stinky and crusty. Everyday you will be challenged to create and predict some
of the most incredible science experiments imaginable.

Students will learn the importance of fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through participation in various

Dirt is everywhere in our lives! If you love to dig, shovel, sift, build, scoop and even paint with dirt, then let’s
get dirty! This summer we will have dusty fun playing in all types of dirt from Oreo® crumbs to the real stuff.
You will even become a “Van Gough” and create your own art canvas using mud as your paint. No matter your
age, dirt can be fun and your skills will be challenged.

exponentially. Various reading strategies, Reader’s Theater, and interactive activities will keep students both

Not all people are chefs, but we are all eaters! Most of us need to learn how to follow a recipe at some point. To
create dishes with good flavor, consistency, and texture, the various ingredients must have some relationship
to one another. In most recipes, measurement of ingredients is an absolute must. In this course students learn
not only why that is, but also multiple ways to get the exact amounts and create delicious food while refining
their math skills. Learn fractions, ratios, and proportions while having fun and eating, too!

Put your detective skills to work while learning how forensic scientists use evidence to identify crime suspects.

The PV Gifted Summer School program has been planned and developed by certified gifted instructors. Participation in these
classes is limited to students who have been designated by PV Schools as having gifted qualifications; upon enrollment our

Lil’ Pioneers
A specially designed caring and nurturing program for children from birth to age three. For parents’ convenience
the center is open from 6:30am - 5:30pm on school days. This is an optional program supported entirely by

A Rube Goldberg machine is defined as on overly-complex contraption,

things happen with Arduino ® and ozobots ®.

This is a BEGINNING band camp geared toward students who are either just starting a
new instrument for the first time, or have been playing for a year and are still beginners
at reading music and playing. We will work out of the band method book, Standard of
Excellence© Book 1. Students will need to bring their own instrument and the Standard
of Excellence© Book 1 for that instrument.
Middle School Camp
This is an Intermediate band camp geared toward students who have
been playing the same instrument for at least two years and are excited
to learn more about how to play their instrument and perform more
interesting and exciting music. We will work out of the band method

High School Camp
This is an Advanced band camp geared toward students who have been
playing in their school bands for at least three years and are excited to get
together with other high school-age students to create beautiful music. We
will prepare and perform concert band music from a variety of genres including
pop, film, Broadway, and jazz. Students will need to bring their own instrument.

• Mascot Camp registration requires separate registration paperwork .
• Grounds supervision will not be available, therefore: if your child is on campus, he/she must be in class.
