What has LIBA done for me lately?

LIBA worked with city officials to protect businesses in the South Haymarket and all taxpayers during the
update of the comprehensive development plan.
•
Alongside City Councilman Roy Christensen, LIBA called on city officials to hire more police officers to help
protect our business community. We added four new officers to the city budget this year.
•
Due to hard work from LIBA, State Senators will soon be studying cellular phone taxes in Nebraska, which are
the second highest in the country at more than 24%.
•
LIBA was the driving force to ensure the South Beltway starts construction by 2020.
•
LIBA saw two of its priority bills pass the Nebraska Legislature and receive Governor Ricketts’ signature, and
amended others to protect Lincoln and Nebraska business interests.

LIBA opposes the city’s use of COP bonds to finance city projects. Our debt on COP bonds has grown from
$1.4 million in 2001, to almost $42 million today without a vote of the people.

LIBA fought to ensure that businesses affected by flooding near 56th and Fletcher in Northeast Lincoln were
protected by working with Councilwoman Cyndi Lamm to secure federal and city funding to complete flood
control projects.

In 2016, LIBA worked with the Nebraska Legislature on 16 legislative bills that would have affected Nebraska
businesses this past session.
