20 years - The Dunes Golf Links
Celebrating 20 The Dunes Golf Links supports grass roots golf and has a program called The Dune Bugs to develop the skills for young junior golfers. From everyone involved in The Dune Bugs golfing program we would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at the Dunes Golf Links. Without the clubs support, none of this would be possible. Another big thanks goes to David Good the Head Coach, Jim Rose and Johnny Derham who help run the program for the juniors who has helped them develop and improve their skills. We would also like to thank the parents and friends of the Dune Bugs who have been there to support this program. Lastly we would like to acknowledge our sponsors who have financially supported the Dune Bugs program - Golf Victoria and Bendigo Bank. BACK TO BACK FLAGS Seasons Greetings to All. 2015 was another tremendous year for our Pennant team undefeated. We following up on our inaugural Division 1 win in 2014 with another victory in 2015. It is said, that nothing goes quicker than time when you are having fun. What a successful year we have had, the 20th Anniversary Celebration, Men’s back-to-back pennant wins, strong participation in both Men and Women’s competitions and importantly the rebirth of junior golf with the awarding of 20 Junior Scholarships. We are blessed with a large group of talented players. Our playing group consisted of Anthony Tallarack, Damien Wisely, Craig Gorton, Ben Dunlop, Craig Hallahan, Peter Walsh, Johnny Derham, Gary Puddick, Scott Davis & our No 1 player Nathan Buzimkic who took out the most Valuable player of the season being undefeated for the season. We had fantastic support from our caddies throughout the season, cheering on our good play and trying to nurture our fragile egos when things weren’t going too well. So to Jimmy, Fred, Chris, Stewart, Rhonda, Robyn, Michael, Bernie & everyone else Well Done! The final was against Rosebud at Sorrento where we backed our capabilities and ran out clear winners in the end. We were lucky enough to have a large crowd of Dunes supporters there to witness us in action, which added to the occasion and gave the team a big lift. Reflecting back on our performance, I was proud to lead the team to such a prestigious victory, to be a part of a team that possessed the key ingredients of commitment, integrity, dedication, honesty and talent. We set out a number of years ago to get our approach right, to play in the right spirit, to play hard but fair, to represent the club with pride and honour. It took a while for it to pay off but it is very gratifying to reflect back on this journey and see it come to fruition. Regardless of how we proceed going forward, we created some history at our club, we did it in the right way and we hope that this approach will continue to reap dividends going forward. Well done everybody and bring on 2016!
