Local folklore tells us of a most
terrible curse that was laid on
this here free-house. Locals
know and so should you that
for over two hundred years, the
Bottles have not been touched
or the curse tested.

Legend has it that over two
hundred years ago, a former
proprietor was putting his
bottles of beer into the window
for display and advertisement.
When fate would play its
wicked game. Death would
creep upon his soul. A coroner
would later report a massive
heart attack, but locals suspect
more eerie forces were at play.
The bottles have remained
untouched in the window since
the day he died.
Now this is where opinions are
divided some say that with his
final breath, he laid the curse
upon bottles, while others say
that his soul-mate and widow
could not live with his loss and
placed the deadly curse upon
them before she to passed over
to the other side.
But all agree that the curse is
real and in over 200 years no
mortal soul has dared to test it.
Any man, woman or child who
touches the Dirty Bottles
would follow in the former
proprietors untimely demise.
More recent proprietors and
landlords have spoken of
an unhappy spirit that now
haunts this very building with
the rattling of glass on glass and
foul oaths to be heard when all
else is quiet.
One thing is for sure, whether
you believe or not the curse of
the Dirty Bottles will go down
in history.
