it all started with a pixy
A Danish lifestyle design company
it all started with a pixy...
Dorthe was a student at the Danish design school and as a project she made this little guy
whom everyone fell in love with………………This was the beginning of Maileg’s fairy tale story!
Dorthe and Erik Mailil established Maileg in 1999. The name is formed as a combination of 2
words. Mailil (her last name) and Leg, which means to “play” = Maileg
Dorthe was at that time well-known as a graphic Designer and you could see her Magic touch
in many books and magazines. She is a graphic designer graduated from The Danish Design
School, with additional studies at the E’cole D’art de Marseille and Paris.
Her creativity was enormous and what started with a little tiny pixy made of clay, soon developed into large collection of pixies – also made off fabric.
The first award (prize) was in her hand and from then on the Company advanced very fast.
The Maileg collection has a unique authentique look and you can very easily see she had inspiration from Scandinavia and France as well as inspiration from “the old days” when grandfathers were boys.
The collection emphasizes contemporary design concepts within:
•
Christmas
•
Easter
•
And a separate collection for children.

Is to make people smile if you have a Maileg piece in your hand you will probably say “Oh my

Dorthe Mailil’s design has a magical touch and we have heard stories how it “makes
grandmothers cry” (of happiness!)
