father, Rafael, is the better known;
the two often travel the campaign
trail together through Iowa, New
Hampshire and South Carolina,
the early Republican caucus and
primary states, telling the Rafael
Cruz story. After being tortured
and imprisoned in his native Cuba,
Rafael fled to the United States
arriving here legally with less
than $100 to his name. Almost
everyone you talk to knows that
Rafael Cruz left his marriage and
his newborn son only to return
to his family after a faith journey
that led him to be Born Again,
accepting Jesus Christ as his
Lord and Savior. He attended the
University of Texas at Austin,
started a small business in the
oil and gas industry and today,
is a pastor in Dallas.

were upset with his fight to stop ObamaCare from taking effect, but Senator
Cruz had promised Texans he would oppose that law, and felt he had a duty to
try and protect his constituents from this harmful government-run health care.
