The Buffalo Urban League is committed to ensuring that African Americans, minorities, and disadvantaged individuals have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. In her position with the Urban League, Mrs. McDuffie's energy and talent is dedicated to making real, positive changes in the lives of people in the Western New York community. and a smattering of history, Miché Fambro encourages Le Ballet Touba - African Dance - Robin Hibbert and Alassane Saar of Le Ballet Touba present this rousing performance of African Music and Dance. Robin's interactive workshop will demonstrate how music and dance became a vital tool for cultural preservation, pride, and resilience during the era of slavery. Participants will be introduced to a traditional West African dance called the Korteba and will have the opportunity to get on their feet and dance along. young people toward creative self-expression. Using his own unique approach to playing the guitar, his belief in using whatever is at hand to begin, and humor, Miché both challenges and inspires his audience to experiment, to play, to practice and to believe in themselves. Dr. Celes Tisdale Poetry & Storytelling - Explore the oral storytelling tradition through both traditional works, and pieces written by the artist. As an actor, Celes Tisdale makes poetry come alive for students while encouraging their own selfexpression. Dr. Tisdale is a professional actor, a published poet, a national and international storyteller, and a lecturer on the arts and culture, and UB Professor Emeritus.
