It is the desire of the Mission’s team to
highlight the different missions that
ESCC supports on a monthly basis. The
highlight for April is the Oblong
Children’s Christian Home.
This
mission has been changing the lives of
children for many years. This mission
field is not far from Olney, and they
would love to hear from you.
To learn more about this mission you
may visit
www.oblongchristianhome.org or visit
them on Facebook. Their address is
4094 E 1050th Ave., Oblong, IL
62449.
Please be in prayer for this mission.
Thank you from the Mission Team.

I hate walking into cobwebs. I know I look silly,
from a distance, batting the air around my head.
Cobwebs are embarrassing.
We have had people over at our house and after
spending the early part of the day cleaning we
sit down to enjoy our company and I notice cobwebs hanging over our heads.
There are spiritual cobwebs too. Maybe we
walked into those spiritual cobwebs on accident
and we found ourselves in a mess. Maybe we
have most of our “spiritual house” clean and we
look up and see the cobwebs.
Either way, cobwebs need to be removed.
KITE
There is only one way to remove the cobwebs
and that is to KILL the spiders!
James 1:21 states, “Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can
save you.” The Greek word for “moral filth” was
used to refer to wax in the ears, which hindered
a person from hearing clearly. The Christian
who is keeping sin hidden in his life is unable to
clearly hear the Word of God. He effectively,
has wax in his hears.
Whatever analogy says it best, we need to get rid of the wax in our ears and
the cobwebs in our lives. We need to kill the spiders! The April sermon series
will highlight the COBWEBS in our spiritual lives.

Our Christian life can take on that
same pattern as well. We commit
to reading the Bible every day,
and do pretty well for a couple of
days, then don’t open the Book
for a couple of weeks. We vow to
improve our prayer life only to
find we get distracted or sleepy.
We try to share our faith with
someone only to bomb royally
and get all discouraged.
We all just need to take a deep
breath and give ourselves some
grace. We’re going to mess up at
times...we’re human, we’re not
perfect. God knows that. That
doesn’t mean, however, that we
can simply stop trying. Paul says
in Philippians 3:12, “Not that I
have already obtained all this, or
have already been made perfect,
but I press on to take hold of that
for which Christ Jesus took hold of
me.”

Learn how to protect your children from falsehood.
In today’s relativistic, “anything goes” culture
where people pick and choose their beliefs, Christianity gets a bad rap. To some, it represents a rigid,
narrow-minded belief system. To see more, pick
