Lt Col (Retd) Faizullah Khan Khattak was the founder Principal of this premier residential academic institution. Although the College does not prepare cadets purely for military career, yet in 1971 out of 107 cadets, 95 were selected for Commission in Defence Forces a record percentage of success achieved by any single educational institution in the country. However, a large number of cadets also opt for professions such as medical, engineering, business management and civil services etc. Ever since its inception, the College has displayed outstanding results in SSC and HSSC Board Examinations. The College has bagged a number of Presidential Awards for academic excellence besides excelling in co-curricular and extra curricular activities. AIM AND OBJECTIVES The College aims at providing quality education with a view to developing knowledge, skills, personality and character of cadets to make them responsible citizens and enlightened leaders. The objectives are focused on academic excellence, personality development, character building, promotion of religious and national values, leadership traits and physical development. LOCATION Cadet College Kohat is situated at the junction of Kohat Rawalpindi Road and National Highway, approximately 8 KM from Kohat city. Kohat-Pindi Railway line passes through it, where the evening railcar stops for the convenience of cadets on Saturday and Sunday. 2 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 CAMPUS The College covers an area of 144 acres with 20 lush green playing-fields, 6 basketball cemented courts, 3 cricketpitches, a beautiful sports stadium, 2 squash courts, 2 lawn tennis courts, a well equipped indoor gymnasium, a swimming pool, Riding Club, 2 Recreation Parks, staff colony, shopping centre, a utility store bakery, ABL Branch with ATM facility and a post office. A beautiful mosque right in the middle of the campus adds to the serenity of the atmosphere. The carefully maintained orchards, flowerbeds and vegetation, provide a refreshing hue to the visitors. Six tubewells ensure supply of water both for irrigation and drinking purposes. COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION Cadet College Kohat (CCK) is under the control and management of the Board of Governors (BOG). The Honourable Chief Minister KPK is the Patron-in-Chief and General Officer Commanding 9 Division Kohat is the Chairman of the BOG. The Principal CCK is responsible for the College administration. STAFF The College has qualified teaching staff, divided into various departments, each headed by a senior member. The Army Staff is headed by the Adjutant of the rank of Captain who is responsible for military and physical training of Cadets. The College has an elaborate administrative setup for smooth functioning of routine activities. CURRICULUM AND SYSTEM OF EDUCATION The College follows the syllabus laid down by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat. The medium of instruction is English. The subjects taught in the College at SSC level are Urdu, English, Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Biology. The College offers PreMedical and Pre-Engineering courses for Intermediate classes. The laboratories are equipped with the latest apparatus, Class tests and terminal examinations are held at regular intervals. Cadets' progress reports are assessed and complete record of their academic performance and overall conduct is sent to the parents at the end of each term. A cadet failing twice in the same class, is no longer retained in the College. 3 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 ADMISSION th Admission is granted in 8 Class purely on merit on the cumulative results of Written Examination, Interview and Medical Test conducted by the College. A candidate for admission should be between 12 and 14 years on 31 March of the year of admission and must have passed 7th Class at the time of admission. However, age waiver of conditional 6 months is granted to Hafiz-e-Quran only. Some available seats are also th filled in 11 Class under Self-Finance Scheme on merit. Overseas Candidates: Overseas candidates can compete against their respective domicile quota. They are also eligible for Self Finance Seats. They will, however, appear in the test in any centre located in Pakistan. b. Quota Seats: Seats against FATA/FR, Defence and Kohatians falling vacant due to less marks in written test shall be adjusted under Self Finance Scheme. Area and volume of cylinder, cube and cuboids. 9) Practical geometry. Thrift/Frugality, Dignity of labour, Lawful earning, Moderation, Generosity, Equality, Prayers, Worships, Adoration, Character of the Holy Prophet, Life of Prophet Muhammad in Mecca and Madina, Prophet's Migration to Madina, Battles of Islam , Truce of Hudaibia , Conquest of Mecca , Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjatth ul-Wadah) and 10 last Sura's of the 30 Para of the Holy Quran, with diacritical points and Translation in Urdu or English. PATTERN OF PAPERS Pattern of papers is flexible. However, Question Papers of previous years are given for guidance. The number of questions or marks allocated to each may vary from time to time. RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTIONS Regular prayers, observance of fast in the holy month of Ramazan, adherence to the Islamic code of life, honesty and truthfulness form the corner stone of religious motivation/grooming. It is managed by a qualified Librarian. An Audio Visual Library with latest equipment is also available to acquaint the cadets with modern techniques of acquisition of knowledge and learning. Latest version video projector, is utilized to screen movies and documentary films. LITERARY AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES A compulsory period is allocated to cultural and literary activities for each class on Fridays. The topics for junior and senior classes are published in the Weekly College Order. Cadets are encouraged to express their views on various topics to build their confidence. The College provides them with ample opportunities to prepare topics from the books which broaden their mental horizon, knowledge and learning. 10 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Inter-House Urdu, English Debates/Declamations, Essay Writing, Qirat and Quiz Competitions are held regularly to put the cadets through a variety of co-curricular activities. EDUCATIONAL VISITS AND EXCURSIONS The College attaches great importance to educational visits and excursions. Visits are arranged to various institutions and places of historical importance. COMPUTER SECTION Computer laboratory is equipped with adequate facilities such as a large number of computers, a coloured printer, a laser printer and a scanner. American Discovery Centre has been donated which covers a variety of subjects including Mathematics, Science, English, Geography, History, Microsoft Encarta Encyclopaedia Programme. COMPUTER CLASSES Computer literacy classes are compulsory for cadets. Various software packages and programming languages are taught to cadets from Class VIII to and XII. Establishment of Multimedia / IT Block is under way to enhance students and teachers knowledge through latest teaching tools. 11 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 ADVANCE MULTI MEDIA / INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CENTRE The College has embarked upon the establishment of an “Advance Multi Media / Information Technology Centre at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 million to augment the existing computer education and training infrastructure; the purpose being to provide the cadets with critical advantage of the latest technology and teaching tools with following aims and objectives: a. b. c. d. e. f. Regular Inter-House, Senior and Junior Competitions, both indoor and outdoor, (Hockey, Football, Cricket, Basketball, Athletics, Table Tennis, Badminton, Shooting) are arranged 12 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 under the supervision of qualified coaches. Annual sports fixtures are also arranged with the sister institutions. PHYSICAL TRAINING Games, Sports and PT/Drill are compulsory for cadets. The College has a spacious and well equipped Indoor Gymnasium, gymnastic equipment and obstacle course for physical training and indoor games / sports. CLUBS AND SOCIETIES Various Clubs and Societies, i.e. Arts Club, Photographic Club, Science Club, Bio Club, Dramatic Club, Computer Club, Urdu and English Debating Societies are in place to develop the skill, knowledge and confidence of cadets. Riding, Shooting and Hiking Clubs are also functioning. COLLEGE MAGAZINE The College Annual Magazine “Al-Noor”, is published in two sections i.e. English/Urdu to project activities of Cadets and provide them a forum to exploit their creative abilities. UNIFORM Cadets wear prescribed College dress. However, they are allowed to wear private clothes (trousers and shirt) on Sundays and closed holidays. 13 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 POCKET MONEY A monthly pocket money of Rs.150/- and Rs.200/- is paid to junior and senior cadets respectively. Cadets are not permitted to keep with them money exceeding their monthly pocket money allowance. Any extra cash that they might have is handed over to the respective Housemaster for safe custody. LEAVE ! ! Leave is granted on a written application from parents. Leave other than the holidays authorised by the College, will not be granted except in very exceptional circumstances. No leave will be granted for attending any function, except the wedding of real brothers and sisters which must preferably be planned during holidays. WEEKEND LEAVE Cadets can avail only a fixed number of week-ends. Parents/guardians are required to forward the following information to the Housemasters regarding their sons / wards at the beginning of each term:- ! ! * * Where they would like their son / ward to spend their weekend at home or with relatives or friends ; The name and address of the relative / friend with whom the cadet will spend his weekend. Note: The cadets overstaying leave without any valid reason shall be fined or punished. JOURNEY TO COLLEGE / HOME Parents/guardians should arrange journey of their sons/wards for going home and coming back to the College. However, College arranges transport from College to Kohat city/Peshawar and back for cadets on weekends / vacation. 14 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 Accidents / Mishaps. All possible measures for the safety of cadets are adopted at the campus. However, the College shall not be held responsible for any kind of accident/mishap causing any kind of physical harm or injury to the cadet. JINNAH HOUSE HOUSES / HOSTELS Cadets are accommodated in 6 Houses, each with a capacity of 95 cadets. Every House is being looked after by a House Master, assisted by House Tutor, Military Staff and House Baba. Moreover, 4-5 teachers have also been affiliated with each House to help the cadets in academics. CADET'S MESSES The College has 3 spacious messes, 1 per 2 Houses. One cadet from each class is member of College Mess Committee which meets frequently to discuss menu and ways of improving the messing standard. COLLEGE HOSPITAL The College has a well equipped ten bedded Hospital under the supervision of Senior Medical Officer, assisted by dispensers. The hospital has its own ambulance. Cadets with serious ailments are referred to C.M.H Kohat. COLLEGE TRANSPORT The College has three buses, one van, one coaster, one Suzuki pickup, one mini truck, one tractor and an ambulance to provide maximum facilities to cadets and staff. 15 C A D E T C O L L E G E K O H AT PROSPECTUS - 2011 FILM SHOWS Selected movies are screened on Saturday night to provide entertainment to cadets AMENITIES The College has a well furnished cafeteria and a bakery / tuck shop with adequate services besides, Tailor, Barber, Cobbler, Stationery Shops, Utility Store Bank with ATM/Online facilities and Post Office at the campus. VISITORS ! Parents / guardians are allowed to visit their sons / wards only on Sundays / holidays as per following timings :9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ( Oct to Mar) 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ( Apr to Sep) * Parents are not allowed to visit dormitories / rooms of cadets. * They are also not allowed to visit the staff at their residences. Ex-Cadet Dilawar Khan topped the examination organized by International Committee of Red Cross and represented Pakistan in the Court Competition. 9) SEARCC Software Competition in Newzealand. Ex-Cadet Aamer represented Pakistan in the competition organized by Computer Society of Pakistan. 10) Sandhurst Royal Academy UK. Cadets can keep their mobile phones with the respective housemasters. However, they are allowed to avail this facility only on Sundays / Holidays.
