New legislation, adopted in Slovenia after 1992, separated the system of
protection against natural and other disasters from the defence
system
•
The system is as an integral, interdisciplinary activity based on
humanitarian principles, non-military
•
Merged all rescue services and other protection, rescue and relief forces
into an organizationally and functionally unified system
STRATEGY
•
•
The Resolution on the National Security Strategy of the Republic of
Slovenia (2001)

Topics of regional analysis –
selected risks in Goriška region
1. earthquakes
2. landslides
3. floods
4. forest fires (fires in the natural
environment)
5. severe weather phenomena (with an
emphasis on strong wind)
Methodology and approach
• First step:
- Geographic outline of region and definition of main risks in area
- Overview of existing documentation on national and local level –
legalization, emergency plans, reports on past events …
- Questionnaire for representatives of all 13 municipalities (advisers for
civil protection, civil protection members, spatial planning wards, …)
• Presentation of first results: October 2011 (during the 1st
Transfer visit, Ajdovščina 25th October )
• Second step: uploaded questionnaire
• Final results: planned in next 2 weeks

area and is connected with
regional notification centers
in Nova Gorica, Postojna
and Koper and this way
covers three regions.

Examples of good practices:
floods - reconstruction
“Reconstruction of River
Vipava river-bed in Miren”

Common approach to the
reconstruction of the Vipava
River river–bed is predicted,
which will include 4
municipalities (Ajdovščina,
Nova Gorica, Renče-Vogrsko
and Miren-Kostanjevica) in
Northern Primorska area.
