At age 16 was 5th in the 400m at the national senior championships ... Until ’13 pursued a parallel succesful career in football (soccer) belonging to the junior team of a 1st divison club ... An injury then made him
decide to concentrate on his running ... Major breakthrough followed last summer running 1:45.65 to take sensational
bronze (best non-Kenyan) at the World Juniors and missing the national senior record by just 0.20 ... Confirmed new
level this winter when finishing just outside of the medals at European Indoors .... Extremely consistent this summer
with six races between 1:45.59 and 1:46.12 within 36 days from late June.

Notes Came to Sweden (Stockholm) in ’09, Swedish citizen in June ’12, cleared by the IAAF to compete for
Sweden in December ’12 ... First ever 1500m Sollentuna (SWE) 1 July ’10 a comfortable win in 4:06 ... First indoor
season (’11) consisted of four 1500m races within just 12 days: On all occasions left the opponents in second half
to win unopposed (margins between 1.89 and 3.62 seconds) ... Injury problems following summer, returned in full
force in May ‘12 with PB 3:59 for 2nd place in Shanghai Diamond League ... Ran six out seven ’12 DL 1500m-races
collecting three 1st, one 2nd and two 3rd places to take the overall title ... In ’12 Olympics after winning heat and
semi with ease unlucky in final as a runner fell immediately in front of her at the bell. Barely avoided falling herself
but lost momentum and the contact with the runners at the front. Did narrow the gap somewhat but was unable to
really challenge for a medal despite finishing just 0.80 behind winner ... Opened her ’13 at XL-galan (Stockholm) on
21 February “with a bang” running 3:58.40, the 2nd fastest ever just 12 hundredths off the WIR ... With her relaxed,
smooth long stride thrives off fast even paces: In Stockholm race 100m-sections were consistently reeled off in 16.2
+/- a couple of tenths before speeding up to sub-15 for the last two ... At ’13 European Indoors won the 1500m by a
whopping and in modern athletics unmatched 9.72 seconds ... Outdoors in ’13 a perfect record of victories in 9 out
of 9 competitions including Worlds and 6 DL ... Same format in ‘14 for the indoor season, i.e. the XL-galan in Stockholm and the international championship ... Just like in ’13 ran second fastest ever in the Stockholm meet and then
won the World title in Sopot by 6.51 seconds! ... Winning streak dating back to Aug ’12 ended on 31 May ’14 in DL
Eugene where she was 2nd (still in 3:57!) ... Hampered by various injury niggles during second half of last summer
and first half of this summer ... Therefore after finishing 4th at DL Oslo on 11 June took time-out from competitions
to focus on rehab and training for Beijing.

Always (since age 15) had steeplechase as No 1 priority ... However after running 10:36 at age 18 didn’t
get sub-10:00 until age 24 with a 10 second PB of 9:53 in prestigeous match vs Finland ... This summer has cut
another 13 seconds off that PB ... Demonstrated exceptional mental tenacity at age 18 when – after arriving at a
meet to find that all other entrants for the steeplechase had withdrawn – still ran and even managed a new PB!

Note
At age 16 improved by 21 cm in one year, at Swedish Youth Ch raised PB from 1.80 to 1.86 ... That PB
stood for three years until ‘07 when improved by 1 cm ... In ‘07 also a surprise winner of the European Junior title
... However, gradually started to loose motivation and left the sport to pursue other interest (e.g. played icehockey
for a couple of years) ... Except for a minor comeback in summer of ’11 basically took four years off from athletics ...
But then in ’13 interest was rekindled ... Begun second athletic career at University of Central Missouri ... Already in
February ’14 by clearing 1.88 (just 3 cm off PB) proved jumping talent had not gone missing ... This year leading the
UCM team to their first ever overall NCAA division 2 titles indoors as well as outdoors by scoring in HJ, LJ and TJ (1st,
4th and 1st indoors, 1st, 4th and 2nd outdoors) ... This summer immediately established herself on the international
scene by 4th place at European Team Champs (1.97!) and 3rd place at Lausanne DL ... Not the first international
class athlete out of Nälden:’58 European Champs 400mH silver medalist Per-Owe Trollsås also came from that small
community (population c 900) in mid-eastern Sweden.

Notes First priority the multievents, e.g. 5th aged 16 at the ’11 WYCh ... However, a persistent elbow injury hampering in the JT forced moving focus away from the Heptathlon ... Thus pursued the combo LJ/100mH for a couple
of years ... In late summer of ’14 (after WJCh) decided to try the one lap events “just for fun” – and found her niche
... Inexperience at these events showed off in the match vs Finland: Starting out quite conservatively in the 400mH
to finish with a “turbo burst” from the last hurdle to move from 5th to 1st ... That extraordinary push of the finishing
straight has become something of a trademark as it this year has brought totally unsuspected wins in the B-race of
the European Team Ch as well as in the European U23’s ... In the process the PB has been lowered by a total of over
2½ seconds ... Her 55.88 is the fastest time by a Swedish runner since ’99 (i.e. in 16 years).

On 27 June ‘09 became the 3rd Swedish long jumper ever to surpass 8 metres in legal wind conditions
when jumping 8.11 ... On 21 July ’12 in Kuortane with 8.22 finally surpassed the NR that had stood for 16 years ... On
21 February ’13 in Stockholm tied the NIR that had stood for 18 years ... On 3 March ’13 added another 8 cm to the
record to take silver at European Indoors ... For many years not the luckiest when it came to narrow international
medal decisions: At ’05 European Juniors 4th with the same mark as the bronze medalist, at ’12 Europeans 3rd just 4
cm from the silver, at ’12 Olympics 4th 1 cm from the bronze and 5 cm from the silver, at ’13 European Indoors 2nd
just 2 cm from the gold, at ’14 World Indoors 3rd just 2 cm from the silver and 7 cm from the gold, at ’14 Europeans
5th just 6 cm from the silver ... Somewhat made up for that by winning the ’15 European Indoors with a massive
20 cm ... Current number of 8m+ competitions is 35 (17 legal outdoors, 7 wind-aided and 11 indoors) ... So far 16
Diamond League appearances since ’10 finishing in top-6 nine times ... Daughter Leah born in May ’14 ... In ’14 went
for a condensed three-meet indoor season (XL-galan, NCh and WICh) which culminated in a bronze medal in Sopot
... Followed same recipe last winter, i.e. only XL-galan (1st at 8.07) and NCh (1st at 7.88) before dominating the EICh:
8.30i NIR was top mark in the world during the indoor season and margin of victory was 20 cm ... Just three meets
this summer due to groin problems but 8.07w to take 9th national title outdoors.
