School Bus Transportation
Riding a school bus is one of the easiest and safest ways to get to school.
Transportation may be available for:
• Students who live in the Area that each Community School, Regional or District Magnet school
serves.
• Elementary school students (K-5) who live more than a half-mile from their school.
• Middle and high school students (grades 6-12) who live more than one mile from their school.
Please note: Morning Pre-K students are picked up at regular bus stops and dropped off at or near
their home. Afternoon Pre-K students are picked up at or near their home and dropped off at regular
bus stops.

SPPS is proud to offer Breakfast to Go. As students arrive at school, they can grab their free breakfast and eat in
class. Breakfast includes breakfast burritos, pancakes, cereal, fresh fruit and more.
EAT SMART
Lunch
School meals are made from scratch with a focus on local ingredients and a wide selection of whole grains, low-fat
dairy, fruits and vegetables. Diverse menus include recipes from our own community, such as chicken suqaar, Hmong
beef fried rice and Thai sweet and sour chicken.
Many schools are now part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. Every student enrolled at a
participating school receives a healthy lunch for free. Visit spps.org/nutrition to see if your school is participating,
review prices for regular-priced meals, and complete a free and reduced-price lunch application.
Paying for Meals
Each student’s meal account PIN is the same as their student ID number. Students can ask a teacher if they don’t

Notice of Rights under FERPA and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act
give parents/guardians and students who are 18 years of age or older certain rights with respect to the
student’s education records. These rights are:
• The right to inspect/review the student’s education records within 10 days of request.
• The right to request a student’s education record be amended.
• The right to give written consent before school discloses personally identifiable information except when
the law permits disclosure without consent.
• The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education regarding alleged failures to comply
with FERPA.
