Jared Sherrick
Troy High School
Valedictorian
Mariana Huerta
Troy High School
Salutatorian
Jared is Troy High
School’s Valedictorian
and has been a lifelong
resident of Troy. He has
represented his high
school and community
by being selected for the
Honda-OSU mathematics
medal ceremony. He has
participated in marching
band and football as well as many other community
service projects around the area. As member of the
Boy Scouts of America, Jared earned the rank of
Eagle Scout. He has volunteered countless hours
of his time at the St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen, not
to mention beautification projects for various local
church outreach programs and non-profit organizations. He would like to credit his friends, family and
mentors for his achievements now and in the future.
In the fall Jared plans to attend The Ohio State University as a member of the Honors program where
he will study aerospace engineering and conduct
undergraduate research. Ultimately, he plans to one
day work for NASA or SpaceX, where he wishes
to design satellites that will provide cheap internet
access and educational tools to underdeveloped
nations around the globe — pursuing Trojan excellence in every aspect of his life. He is the son of Ron
and Melissa Sherrick.
Mariana Huerta has
truly made the most of her
time at Troy High School
in the classroom and
beyond. She has received
many honors including
recognition as a National
Merit Scholar, a National
Hispanic Scholar and
Salutatorian of Troy High
School’s Class of 2016 with an extensive array of
honors and AP classes throughout her academic
career. In addition, she represented Troy High
School and Miami County at its 2016 Franklin B.
Walter All-Scholarship Award recipient. Mariana
not only pursues rigor in her academics, but also
actively involves herself in extracurricular activities
and sports. She is the current president of the Math
club and a member of the National Honor Society,
Key Club and Latin club as well as an athlete on the
cross country team and the swim team. Mariana
enjoys volunteering in the Troy community through
the Reading Buddies program, the Pen Pal program
and St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen. In addition, she has
worked at the Troy-Miami County Public Library
for nearly two years. Mariana has played the piano
and violin since she was little and will continue to
enjoy music as a hobby throughout her life. Mariana
plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas this
fall to major in biomedical engineering, where she
intends to further pursue her passions both in and
out of the classroom. She is the daughter of Ruben
and Soraya Rivadeneira-Huerta.

Piqua High School
Timothy Wade Wenrick
Valedictorian
Sierra Miller
Salutatorian
Piqua City School Class of
2016
Wade Wenrick was born
and raised in Piqua. His parents are Jeff and Jeana Wenrick. Growing up, Wade was
given many opportunities to
explore where he might find Wenrick
his discipline. Following in
the steps of his sister, Emily, he excelled
in academics. At the same time, his oldest
sister, Laney, influenced him by example to
be expressive through the arts. He found his
passion when he began taking guitar lessons
in sixth grade. Wade’s attraction towards
the discipline in the guitar may come as a
surprise to some, but those who truly know
him are able to see where his path is set.
After high school, Wade will be pursuing
guitar as a career, all the while seeking to
walk with integrity before God.
Sierra Miller was born in Troy,
Ohio to Kim and Todd Miller.
Ever since a young age, she has
participated in many athletic and
extra-curricular activities such
as soccer and travel league soft- Miller
ball teams. Having won many
awards and outstanding achievements, Sierra
received a few prospective offers to play softball
at the collegiate level. Despite the many worthy
offers, she has decided to attend the University
of Kentucky this fall to major in pre-medical
laboratory science with a focus on pharmaceutical studies. Sierra has participated in National
Honor Society, Link Crew, Piqua Teen Leaders, concert choir, varsity softball and soccer,
and the Big Brother Big Sister program. Sierra
plans to strive for academic success at UK
while also continuing to volunteer.
