Dupont, and from Cartier a vintage 18k yellow gold lighter, and a limited edition lacquer lighter to commemorate the Beijing Olympics as well as the close relationship of Cartier and China. Limited Edition Cartier “China Inspiration” flip lighter in black Chinese lacquer with gold trim and gold spiral and cloud accents. Produced in the year 2008 to symbolize the close relation of Cartier with China, the same year of the Beijing Olympics. Inspection by appointment. (Front) S.T. The most interesting features of this rug are the repeating medallions and the geometric, curvilinear, zoomorphic, rosette and star designs. The standards set by the Kashan weavers between 1900 and 1950 were hinged on the balance they achieved between the unity of all the elements of structure, color and design. One of the key factors in the recognition of the Kashan carpets is the richness of coloring. Highly decorative, the carpets are extremely dense and woven in the Persian knot. The Primera Hoja focuses on Luzon and features detailed insets of Manila and its environs, the Segunda Hoja covers the Visayas and Mindanao while the third sheet covers the far north including Batanes and the southern outer islands with an inset of the Philippines as a whole. Scarborough Shoal (Panatag Shoal/Bajo de Masinloc) is named in the 3rd sheet. This is one among several maps put forward to bolster the Philippine claim to the West Philippine Sea. This map is scarce particularly in its complete 3 parts. It is the basis of all topographical Philippine maps that followed. It is the result of half a century’s scientific mapping and hydrographic surveys that began with Bauza’s Carta General de Filipinas of 1792. Decorative detail includes a large whalef ish and a twint ailed mermaid. The map is from the German edition of the Cosmographia by Sebastian Munster. The woodblock of this print was first used in 1540. Scarce. A scarce chart by Francois Valentijn from his monumental Oud et Nieuw Ost Indien showing the Philippines prior to the publication of the Murillo Velarde map of 1744. The chart has a system of rhumb lines and a central compass rose and shows Japan to the north and identifies Australia as Nova Hollandia to the south. With outline handc oloring.
