Journey to Excellence emphasizes factors which are early indicators of a unit’s strength and health. It also offers incentives for continuous improvement. Better performance means a better Scouting program for the youth. You can learn more about the Journey to Excellence program by going to www.scouting.org and typing JOURNEY TO EXCELLENCE in the search box. The process takes a fair amount of thought and effort, but the benefits to your membership (and to you and the other leaders of your Scouting unit) will be apparent as you implement the plan during the upcoming Scouting year. The five steps to “Ideal Year of Scouting” success: 1) Develop an annual “Ideal Year” program plan. 2) Build a budget to support this plan. 3) Select one fundraiser to fulfill the budget. 4) Set family goals for one fundraiser. 5) Share the details of all of the above with parents and youth.
