This prestigious award emphasizes the qualities of good citizenship among senior high students, such as dependability, leadership, service and patriotism. The students were selected by teacher recommendation. The students were also asked to write a 500 word essay on what it means to be a good citizen in America today. Brandon won first place in the essay contest which earned him a DAR scholarship. Brandon is the son of Keven and Sandra Willis and big brother to Zach, an SCS fourth grader. We are so proud of Brandon. Congratulations ! Our High School Boys Basketball team has made it to the play offs. Southcrest will host the first game this Saturday, February 20 at 12 noon in the Oakwood Baptist Gym located on 60th and Ave U. If the boys win this game, they will play in Granbury, Tuesday afternoon. Come help support our team and cheer them on Saturday afternoon. Entrance fees are Adult $5, student $3. Family punch passes are not valid. Get your Glam on! Computation Congratulations to our high school Robotics Team! They have been invited to advance to the regional competition on February 20. This is a great accomplishment for our rookie team who is led by Mrs. Little and her husband Tad . They have built the robot with grant funds, however they are in need of extra materials for maintenance and repair of the robot to continue competing at such a high level. The winning teacher’s school will receive $5,000 as well. • A media release will announce the national winner and the contributions that led to him or her being recognized. • The national student winner will receive a $500 Barnes & Noble Gift Card and a NOOK® device. The Chess Club will be participating the Texas Chess Associations’ Panhandle Regional championship on February 27 at Wayland Baptist in Plainview.
