You’re Out, Anna!
(But remain within our hearts)
Community partners, ACAP families and members, Board members,
Board members filled the ACAP stadium to bid a fond farewell to one of
its most valuable players… a Golden Glover in oh so many ways. Anna
joined the team as a ‘batgirl’ interning from UWM for 16 weeks; over
the 10 years following, she ran the
bases that kept our team
championing ACAP’s World Series
mission!
Anna and Courtney
Anna’s passion for improving the
lives of people with disabilities through
community experiences will now find her in the Elkhorn school system
practicing her occupational therapy background. Although we will miss
her quiet, gentle ways of coaching us all, we wish her only the very best
with her new adventure and send up one last cheer, ‘Hit it Out of the
Park, Anna!’

A Reflection of Scott Quattrochi
By: Katie Woelfel
I met Scott in the Fall of 2012. He had just moved to Wisconsin from Florida to live with his sister and
brother in law, Gina and Joe, after the passing of both of his parents whom he had lived with growing
up. Upon first meeting Scott, he walked into ACAP with a swagger suggesting he owned the place, a pair of
shades, a cigar (a fake one at that) hanging from his lip, and a greeting of “Hey, How’s it Going?” These are
just a few of the things that I will fondly remember of him.
Scott was a natural at befriending his new peers within ACAP, Art Links, and his surrounding community. He
was quick for a smile, a joke, or a kind word to a friend. You would never have guessed he was new to his
surroundings, or the friends he was quickly making. He was the kind of guy that was up for any sort of
adventure that came his way, from camping in the Northwood’s of St. Croix Valley or close to home at
Ottawa Lake, to tubing and kayaking on Lake Pewaukee, or pool sharking with a cue and an eight ball.
Scott also shared his love of music with anyone that he came in contact with,
offering many musical impersonations to anyone that would lend an ear. He
offered many musical talents on several different instruments such as
harmonica, accordion, and ukulele. He even lent those talents on stage for
several Playmaker Productions.
While I only knew Scott for a short time, he became a fast friend, and one
that I will never forget. In the words of Stevie Wonder, this song’s for you
Scott:
“I just called to say I love you,
I just called to say how much I care,
I just called to say I love you,
And we mean it from the bottom of our hearts!” All your friends at ACAP
ACAP Opportunities… In Depth
Blessings in a Backpack
Robert Stadler delivering food!
In 2015 ACAP members started volunteering as part of the Blessings in a
Backpack program (BIAB). BIAB is a program that began in Waukesha County
in 2012. The mission of BIAB is to partner with America to insure
impoverished elementary school students are fed on the weekend
throughout the school year, the weekend gap is a time when many children
go hungry in our communities. ACAP members are assisting with fulfilling
this mission by distributing bags of food to students (Friday Friends) at
Lowell Elementary school each week. Initially students were apprehensive
about the new faces bringing their food, especially hesitant to approach
those using wheelchairs. However, after a couple of weeks the students got
more comfortable with this and now even know everyone by name and
approach everyone with enthusiasm!
Generating Memories and Funds
The Women’s Theme Table
In April , The Designing Women with a Cause,
hosted the 22nd annual Theme Table Event
benefitting ACAP. This year the theme was
“Passport to the World” with 12 tables
representing different places around the world.
We would like to thank the table hostesses and
volunteers for their hard work and dedication,
and the donors, sponsors and attendees for their
continued support this year. A special thank you
to St. John Neumann for continuing to give us a
home for this beautiful event.

The Ice-ing on the Recreation Cake
The recreation group joined the Wauwatosa Curling Club
for four Tuesdays of Curling during the winter months.
With the help of awesome volunteers, the group had
the opportunity to get on the ice a number of
consecutive weeks; which allowed them to truly
appreciate this therapeutic sport. Curling is an ancient
Scottish ice sport. Goals are scored by throwing a heavy
“stone” toward the goal as teammates help the stone
along by melting the ice with brooms thereby creating
friction.

ACAP Playmakers
Cinderella’s Fella
In April, ACAP PlayMakers performed their 10th spring
production at the Waukesha Civic Theatre. The show,
Cinderella’s Fella, featured forty cast members and brought to
life three classic tales (Cinderella, Cyrano de Bergerac, and The
Three Musketeers) into one storyline. Complete with songs and
dances and sword fight scenes, the show had an eightperformance run and was attended by over 1300 people
including school groups from Waukesha and Sussex. Audience
members commented on the great choreography throughout
the show and the talented singers.
