Fundraiser, held on Sunday, September 11, 2011, sponsored by Superior Rail & Iron Works, attracted nearly 1,000 participants and raised over $165,000 for the fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease! Our event was also sponsored by Cape Cod Broadcasting, and supported by Emerald Physicians, Denmark Cleaning Services, Best Buy, TD Bank, Roche Bros. Supermarkets, Thomas J. O’Neill, Inc. of Mashpee, the Ninety Nine Restaurants, Sodexho @ MBL, South Coast Women’s Journal, Patients Like Me and the Cape Cod Times. The Wareham High School ROTC kicked off the event with a presentation of the colors and Jessica Current sang the National Anthem. Foundation Board Secretary David Phillips was our emcee. This year our Walk fell on the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks of 2001. Kevin McElligatt, a first responder at Ground Zero, led a moment of silence, and rang a bell ten times to signify the passing years. Kevin McElligatt Jessica Current Special thanks to our entertainers, “Pocketfull of Soul” and Amber Crowley, a multi-talented local ER doctor who volunteers to perform at charitable events. Cecilia Colucci Attendees were also treated to the emotional debut single, “Keep The Light On”, written by our good friend Tom O’Neill and performed by Cecilia Colucci and Pat Ryan of Full Spectrum Music. Tom was touched by A.L.S. when he lost a close personal friend to the disease. He became involved with the foundation over 3 years ago after seeing first hand how “warm, Engraved bricks honoring caring, passionate, hardworking, and dedicated” our our patients surround our Foundation is towards the cause. Once again our friends from the Ninety Nine Restaurant of Wareham provided delicious seafood chowder and chicken & corn chowder. Thanks to their team of volunteers! Thomas J. O’Neill “Family Tree”.
