Friday • January 4 Monthly BOARD MEETING - 6:00 PM Saturday • January 12 Holiday Party The ” 2007” Kona Sailing Club activities and events brought us all lots of good times, laughs, smiles, good food, and best of all, some of the best “Genoa Sailing Conditions in the Pacific.” From February’s SledgeHammer, the Spring Series, the notorious Kawaihae Regatta, Fall Series, Wahine Regatta, right up to the “not yet sailed” but popular Poker Run (postponed), and all the sailing in-between…. It has been another marvelous year of sailing and friendship along the Kona Coast. And the Prospects for 2008 look even better…….. with the largest ballot ever for 2008 KSC Board of Directors elections!!! It is a pleasure for me to be a part of this fine Sailing Organization and I am sincerely looking forward to the future………… A Man of the Sea Passes.... Some of our older members of the club may know of Associate member Capt. Bill Ross. He was a Columbia River Pilot for decades and the brother of Capt. Jack Ross a well known long-time charter fisherman in Kona. Capt. William Ross donated a sailboat to the club to be used for training Boy Scouts in the summer. A catalina 22' as I recall. We maintained it for over a year and then decided to sell it when no one wanted to use or maintain it. I think she changed names and is still around. The $4000 we got for her went into the building fund and helped get our re-building project started. The club gave Capt. Ross a life-time membership that we may now retire. He was a good man and a solid seaman. - Sam Gaughen Page 6 The Best of Sailing to All Admiral “Bull” -MAHALOSHoliday Party See Inside for New Details on the January 12th Party!!!
