LifeStraw® is an award-winning, easy to use water filtration technology, which enables you safely to drink
water from contaminated water sources. The technology was invented by the Swiss-based company
Vestergaard and was originally developed for humanitarian and natural disasters. The LifeStraw® technology
has been used in more than 70 countries and during major natural disasters in places like Haiti, Thailand, and
Indonesia and most recently in the Philippines where LifeStraw® has saved many lives.

BPA-free water bottle has a build-in LifeStraw® and will filter up to 1,000 liters of contaminated water to the

with instant clean water no matter where you are. Perfect for outdoor, sport, hiking and traveling or as your

LifeStraw® Family
LifeStraw® Family is the perfect unit for households or bigger groups with a capacity of 18,000 liters,
enough to supply a family of five with clean drinking water for up to three years. Family is a point-of-use
microbiological water purifier capable of removing viruses, bacteria and parasites to protect against
waterborne diseases. Lightweight and portable, Family is tailored for travelling or camping in remote areas
or as an emergency preparedness tool. It makes filtering water a breeze at base camps or at expeditions.

LifeStraw® Community
LifeStraw® Community is the biggest LifeStraw unit. Community has been designed specially for schools,
hospitals and health clinics in areas with no access to clean and safe drinking water. Community is easy to
operate and can supply larger groups of people with clean water for several years.

Technology
The LifeStraw® technology contains a specially designed hollow fiber
ultrafiltration technology, most commonly found in industrial water
treatment plants that clean a city’s water supply. The inside of the
LifeStraw® consists of a large number of hollow fibers that resemble angel
hair spaghetti, but much thinner. Each fiber has pores in its walls with a
diameter of 0.2 microns or five hundred times smaller than the diameter of
a human hair. When water is forced through the hollow fibers, only clean
water can fit through these pores, blocking bacteria, parasites, and dirt from
reaching the user. This purely physical method of filtration does not contain
any chemicals.
The LifeStraw® technology has been independently tested and certified to
meet EU directive 10/2011 and EU directive 1935/2004 regulatory standards
and the United States EPA 1987 Protocol for Microbiological Water
Purification.
