Scoots Magoo`s Day Off
Scoots Magoo’s Day Off Patrick Dugan & Francisco J. GarciaAscanio Description Our movie was inspired by the likes of Anchorman, Airplane, Spinal‐tap and other comedies. Our goal was to provide an educational explanation of our boolean generator piece under the guise of a news broadcast. In this way we could provide various interpretations of the piece, while visiting different locales and introducing different characters. As the news segment progresses, the viewer learns more about the structure, concluding with Dr. Fishwick's scripted interpretation of the piece, a detailed description of the work's functionality. Script Scene 1 – Channel 4 News Logo [Set: Display Channel 4 News Logo] [Audio: Channel 4 News theme song] [Transition: Cross fade into next scene] Scene 2 – Anchor Man [Set: Channel 4 Studios] [Image Overlay: Channel 4 News] [Audio: Voice over] Anchorman: "Oh, we’re on? And that's one trip that cat won't forget! And now breaking news from Scoots Magoo on Aesthetica. Scoots?" [Image Overlay: Aesthetic Island] [Transition: Star wipe into next scene] Scene 3 – Scoots Magoo [Set: Helicopter fly by over island covered with Boolean generators] [Image Overlay: Channel 4 News Logo] [Image Overlay: Subtitle] [Audio: Voice over and helicopter] Scoots: "Earlier today we did a flyby of Aesthetica island, after many reports from our faithful, sometimes neurotic, viewers. As you can see, the island is covered by these mysterious structures, which some are calling, tree‐weeds, or treeds. Oh God, we just hit one. There’s smoke…Jesus we’re going down…" [Audio: Helicopter alarm] Scene 4 – Channel 4 Standby [Set: Display Channel 4 Standby] [Audio: Test Mode] Scene 5 – Underpaid Butler [Image Overlay: Channel 4 News Logo] [Image Overlay: Subtitle] Scoots: "Here's what one Aesthetic business man had to say." [Set: Bar scene with business man, bartender and Boolean generator] [Audio: Voice over and Crowd effect] Business Man: "I was just enjoying my morning martini, trying to seduce this underpaid bartender here, when I said 'What should I get, a martini or your phone number?'. Next thing I know the bartender was spilling Vodka all over my new Gucci suit, shocked that this crazy contraption had appeared out of nowhere." [Transition: Starwipe] Scene 6 – Redneck Couple [Image Overlay: Channel 4 News Logo] [Image Overlay: Subtitle] Scoots: "Others had more cultured interpretations." [Set: Aesthetic Island] Redneck: "Well me and Skeet were out shooting peop,... er,.. huntin', when I saw this giant floatin ball animal, so I shot it, like this,.." [Redneck "shoots" structure, making nodes change color; Scoots falls to the ground when Redneck shoots] Redneck: "And the damn thing changed color and put this text all over the place. Skeet got so skurred he had to get some new long underwears. Boy I tell ya I never laughed so hard since Skeet got his hand trapped in mah gun rack. I'd like to say hi to my Mah, Pah, Lil' Sis, Lil' Jer, Big Bubba,..." [Transition: Starwipe] Scene 7 – Artist/Panhandler [Image Overlay: Channel 4 News Logo] [Image Overlay: Subtitle] Scoots: "Some believe the structure could have historical significance." [Set: Art Gallery] Artist: "The various shapes in the structure could have many different interpretations. The most prominent comes from the ancient Kung tribe, which would construct similar shapes out of driftwood for their yearly fertility ritual. Which must have been quite the sight, if I do say. Alternatively, it could have a more political statement, with the abstract structure being reminiscent of the propaganda of the Kasia cult." [Transition: Starwipe] Scene 8 – Professor Fishwick [Image Overlay: Channel 4 News Logo] [Image Overlay: Subtitle] Scoots: And here’s what our galactic overlord had to say… [Set: Classroom] Fishwick: "After my careful analysis, I believe the structures represent some sort of equation, possibly boolean, meaning only having the values true or false, in nature. If you notice, the structure has horizontal levels, with each level depending on the level above it. If you look at the smaller objects, the lower object only changes in response to one above it. The top levels are the only ones that allow any meaningful interaction, and all have the same shape, while the other shapes seem to represent certain operators (such as and, or and not). As I've heard from other people's conversations before the appearance of these objects, most people used the words "and, or and not." [Transition: Starwipe] Scene 9 – Anchorman [Image Overlay: Channel 4 News Logo] [Transition: None] [Set: Channel 4 News Studio] Anchorman: "A riveting, and somewhat bowel‐rattling expose. And now a word from our sponsors." Scene 10 – Sponsor [Japanese Hulk Hogan Commercial] Scene 11 Credits [Run credits] [Play music] eenshots Scre
